Panel with Alterable Message for Garments

Abstract

A panel system is disclosed. Said panel system comprising a panel, an attaching means, a first message and a second message. Said panel comprises a first side and a second side. Said attaching means is capable of holding and releasing said panel to a garment. Said first message attaches to said first side of said panel. Said second message attaches to said second side of said panel.

Description

BACKGROUND

This disclosure relates generally to a panel with alterable message for garments.

Mr. Sanchez (U.S. Pat. No. 4,710,981) and Mr. Oney (U.S. Pat. No. 4,999,848) each disclose a shirt having a moveable flap capable of hiding and revealing a message. Sanchez and Oney, however, do not provide a means of switching between one or more messages and also require that said flap remain intact when displaying a hidden message.

Likewise, Ms. Wilmers (U.S. Pat. No. 5,379,461) discloses a flap bearing a first indicia on said flap and a second indicia under said flap. Again, Ms. Wilmers discloses a flap (having the same shortcomings as Mr. Sanchez and Mr. Oney). Wilmers does not accommodate an alterable panel as disclosed infra.

None of the above inventions and patents, taken either singularly or in combination, is seen to describe the instant disclosure as claimed. Accordingly, an improved panel with alterable message for garments would be advantageous.

SUMMARY

Two panel systems and a method of using a panel system are disclosed.

A panel system is disclosed. Said panel system comprising a panel, an attaching means, a first message and a second message. Said panel comprises a first side and a second side. Said attaching means is capable of holding and releasing said panel to a garment. Said first message attaches to said first side of said panel. Said second message attaches to said second side of said panel.

A method of using a panel system is disclosed. Said method of using a panel system comprising: releasably holding a panel having a first side and a second side to a garment in a first position and a second position with an attaching means. Said releasably holding said panel to said garment in said first position comprises: orienting said second side of said panel toward said garment by said attaching means, attaching said panel to said panel, and displaying said first side of said panel. Said releasably holding said panel to said garment in said second position comprises: orienting said first side of said panel toward said garment by said attaching means and displaying said second side of said panel. Said first side of said panel comprises a first message. Said second side of said panel comprises a second message.

Finally, a panel system is disclosed. Said panel system comprising a panel, an attaching means, a first message, and a second message. Said panel having a first side and a second side. Said attaching means capable of releasably holding said panel to a garment in a first position and a second position. Said first message on said first side of said panel. Said second message on said second side of said panel. Said releasably holding said panel to said garment in said first position comprises: orienting said second side of said panel toward said garment by said attaching means, attaching said panel to said panel, and displaying said first side of said panel with said first message. Said releasably holding said panel to said garment in said second position comprises: orienting said first side of said panel toward said garment by said attaching means and displaying said second side of said panel with said second message. Said one or more messages comprise one or more emotional states of a user of said panel system.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Described herein is a panel with alterable message for garments. The following description is presented to enable any person skilled in the art to make and use the invention as claimed and is provided in the context of the particular examples discussed below, variations of which will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art. In the interest of clarity, not all features of an actual implementation are described in this specification. It will be appreciated that in the development of any such actual implementation (as in any development project), design decisions must be made to achieve the designers' specific goals (e.g., compliance with system- and business-related constraints), and that these goals will vary from one implementation to another. It will also be appreciated that such development effort might be complex and time-consuming, but would nevertheless be a routine undertaking for those of ordinary skill in the field of the appropriate art having the benefit of this disclosure. Accordingly, the claims appended hereto are not intended to be limited by the disclosed embodiments, but are to be accorded their widest scope consistent with the principles and features disclosed herein.

FIGS. 1A and 1B illustrate an elevated view of a panel system 100 attached to a garment 101. Panel system 100 can comprise a panel 102, an attaching means and one or more messages. In one embodiment, panel system 100 can attach to garment 101 with said attaching means. In one embodiment, garment 101 can comprise a shirt, a t-shirt, jacket, sweater, pants and/or similar. In one embodiment, said attaching means can comprise one or more buttons. In one embodiment, said buttons can comprise sew through buttons, snap-type buttons, flat buttons, shank buttons, stud buttons, or similar. In one embodiment, said one or more buttons can comprise a first button 104a, a second button 104b, a third button 104c and a fourth button 104d. In one embodiment, said one or more messages can comprise a first message 106a and/or a second message 106b. In one embodiment, one or more of said panel system 100 can attach to a sleeve 108, a first side 110 and/or a second side 112 (not illustrated here) of garment 101. Panel 102 can comprise a first side 114 and a second side 116. In one embodiment, first message 106a can attach to first side 114 of panel 102, and second message 106b can attach to second side 116 of panel 102.

In one embodiment, panel 102 can comprise a substantially rectangular shape (as illustrated) or a non-rectangular shape.

In one embodiment, panel 102 can comprise one textile comprising said one or more messages. In one embodiment, panel 102 can comprise a plurality of textiles attached to one another. In one embodiment, said attaching means can hold a plurality of panels 102 on said garment 101.

In one embodiment, said one or more messages can comprise one or more emotional states of a user of said garment. In one embodiment, said one or more messages can comprise one or more sports team logos or company logos. In one embodiment, said one or more messages can comprise differing messages; wherein, said user of said panel with alterable message for garments can alter said one or more messages according to said user's preference. In one embodiment, said one or more messages can be embroidered into said panel 102. In another embodiment, said one or more messages can be printed, screen printed, or applied by other known means to said panel 102.

Panel 102 can attach to either said first side 110 or said second side 112 of said garment 101. For purposes of this disclosure, discussions of attaching said panel 102 to first side 110 of said garment 101 can be reapplied to either said front side or said back side of said garment 101.

In one embodiment, said one or more buttons can attach to one or more corners of said panel 102, as illustrated in FIGS. 1A-1B.

Panel system 100 can comprise a first position 118 and a second position 120. In one embodiment, holding said panel system 100 into said first position 118 can comprise: orienting said second side 116 toward said garment 101; attaching panel system 100 to garment 101; and displaying said first side 114 with said first message 106a. Likewise, in one embodiment, holding said panel system 100 into said second position 120 can comprise: orienting said first side 114 toward said garment 101; attaching panel system 100 to garment 101; and displaying said second side 116 with second message 106b. Thus, in one embodiment, panel system 100 can be transitioned between said first position 118 and said second position 120 and thereby alter said one or more messages between said first message 106a and said second message 106b.

FIGS. 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D illustrate a series of perspective overviews of garment 101 with panel system 100 transitioning from said first position 118 and said second position 120.

In one embodiment, transitioning from said first position 118 and said second position 120 can comprise: releasing said attaching means, removing said panel 102 from said garment 101, flipping said panel 102, and reattaching said panel 102 to panel system 100 with said second message 106b displayed on said panel 102. In one embodiment, releasing said attaching means can comprise unbuttoning said one or more buttons. In one embodiment, reattaching said panel 102 to said panel system 100 can comprise buttoning said one or more buttons to said panel 102.

FIG. 2E illustrates a perspective rear view of panel 102 detached from garment 101. In one embodiment, said attaching means can comprise one or more button holes. In one embodiment, said one or more button holes can comprise a first hole 202a, a second hole 202b, a third hole 202c and a fourth hole 202d. In one embodiment, said one or more buttons can attach to and detach from one or more button holes to a reattach and release said attaching means.

FIGS. 3A, 3B and 3C illustrate an elevated front view, side view and rear view of panel 102 of panel system 100.

In one embodiment, panel system 500 can comprise a different embodiment of said attaching means as compared to said attaching means used with said panel system 100. In one embodiment, said attaching means can comprise one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners. In one embodiment, said one or more sets of one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners can comprise one or more first portions and one or more second portions. In one embodiment, said one or more first portions can comprise a first-first portion 502a and a second-first portion 502b. In one embodiment, said one or more second portions can comprise a first-second portion 504a, a second-second portion 504b, a third-second portion 504c and a fourth-second portion 504d.

In one embodiment, transitioning said panel system 500 from said first position 118 and said second position 120 can comprise: releasing said attaching means, removing said panel 102 from said garment 101, flipping said panel 102, and attaching said panel 102 to panel system 100 with said second message 106b displayed on said panel 102. In one embodiment, releasing said one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners can comprise pulling apart said one or more first portions from said one or more second portions. In one embodiment, reattaching said panel 102 to said panel system 100 can comprise aligning said one or more first portions w said one or more second portions and pressing said one or more second portions into said one or more first portions.

In one embodiment, said one or more first portions and said one or more second portions can each comprise one of a hook portion or a loop portion of said one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners. For example, in one embodiment, said one or more first portions can comprise said hook portion of said one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners and said one or more second portions can comprise said loop portion of said one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners. In one embodiment, both of said first side 114 and said second side 116 of said panel 102 can comprise an upper portion and a lower portion. For example, in one embodiment, said first side 114 can comprise an upper portion 506 and a lower portion 508; and said second side 116 can comprise an upper portion 510 and a lower portion 512.

In one embodiment, said one or more first portions can attach to said garment 101 and said one or more second portions can attach to panel 102. For example, in one embodiment, first-second portion 504a can attach to upper portion 506; second-second portion 504b can attach to lower portion 508; third-second portion 504c can attach to upper portion 510; and fourth-second portion 504d can attach to lower portion 512. In one embodiment, first-first portion 502a and second-first portion 502b can be arranged substantially parallel to one another and substantially horizontal on garment 101 in a location capable of receiving said panel 102. In one embodiment, attaching said panel 102 to said garment 101 into said first position 118 can comprise aligning and pressing said third-second portion 504c and fourth-second portion 504d with said first-first portion 502a and second-first portion 502b. Likewise, in one embodiment, attaching said panel 102 to said garment 101 into said second position 120 can comprise aligning and pressing said first-second portion 504a and second-second portion 504b with said first-first portion 502a and second-first portion 502b.

FIGS. 6A, 6B and 6C illustrate an elevated front view, side view and rear view of panel 102 of panel system 500.

FIG. 7 illustrates a perspective side view of panel system 700 attached to sleeve 108 of garment 101. In one embodiment, panel system 700 can comprise panel system 500 reduced in size to fit on sleeve 108. Alternatively, in one embodiment, panel system 700 can attach to a wide variety of garments in a side variety of locations. For example, in one embodiment, panel system 700 can attach to a pair of pants on a leg portion and/or a seat portion. In another embodiment, panel system 700 can attach to a heavy garment such as a jacket or coat.

In one embodiment, transitioning said panel system 700 from said first position 118 and said second position 120 can comprise a procedure similar to panel system 500.

FIGS. 8A, 8B, 8C and 8D illustrate a series of perspective overviews of garment 101 with panel system 800 transitioning from said first position 118 and said second position 120.

In one embodiment, panel system 800 can comprise a variation on said attaching means illustrated in said panel system 500. Panel system 800 can comprise said one or more first portions and said one or more second portions. In one embodiment, one or more first portions can comprise a first-first portion 802a, a second-first portion 802b, a third-first portion 802c, a fourth-first portion 802d, a fifth-first portion 802e and a sixth-first portion 802f. In one embodiment, said one or more second portions can comprise a first-second portion 804a, a second-second portion 804b, a third-second portion 804c, a fourth-second portion 804d, fifth-second portion 804e, a sixth-second portion 804f, a seventh-second portion 804g, a eight-second portion 804h, a ninth-second portion 804i, a tenth-second portion 804j, an eleventh-second portion 804k and a twelfth-second portion 804l. Wherein, attaching said panel 102 to said garment 101 (for panel system 800) can comprise a process similar to doing the same for panel system 500; however, aligning and pressing said one or more first portions with said one or more second portions comprises aligning sets of three of said one or more first portions with sets of three one or more second portions. For example, in one embodiment, attaching said panel 102 to said garment 101 in said first position 118 can comprise aligning and pressing said seventh-second portion 804g, said eight-second portion 804h, said ninth-second portion 804i, said tenth-second portion 804j, an eleventh-second portion 804k and said twelfth-second portion 804l with said first-first portion 802a, said second-first portion 802b, said third-first portion 802c, said fourth-first portion 802d, said fifth-first portion 802e and said sixth-first portion 802f.

FIG. 9 illustrates a perspective front under view of a panel system 900. In one embodiment, said panel system 900 can comprise a variation on said attaching means illustrated in said panel system 500. In one embodiment, said attaching means can comprise said one or more first portions attached to said garment 101 and said panel 102 comprising a material capable of attaching to said one or more first portions. For example, in one embodiment, said one or more first portions can comprise said hook portion of said one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners, and said panel 102 can comprise a material comprising a loop portion-like characteristic (such as flannel, or other similar soft fabrics). In such an embodiment, attaching panel 102 to said one or more first portions can comprise aligning said panel 102 over said one or more first portions and pressing said panel 102 against said one or more first portions.

Other embodiments of said attaching means can comprise corresponding magnets, corresponding static bonding materials, corresponding reusable adhesives, or similar; wherein, said attaching means is capable to attach and detach between said garment 101 and said panel 102.

FIGS. 10A, 10B and 10C illustrate a perspective front under view of a panel system 1000. In one embodiment, said panel system 1000 can comprise a variation on said attaching means illustrated in said panel system 100. Whereas, said one or more buttons in panel system 100 can comprise sew through buttons, said one or more buttons in said panel system 1000 can comprise one or more snap-type buttons, as illustrated and known in the art. In one embodiment, each of said snap-type buttons can comprise a first portion 1002 and a second portion 1004. In one embodiment, one of said first portion 1002 and said second portion 1004 can be attached to said panel 102 and the other can be attached to said garment 101; wherein, said first portion 1002 and said second portion 1004 can be capable of attaching to one another and thereby can attach said panel 102 to said garment 101. For example, in one embodiment, first portion 1002 can comprise a first-first portion 1002a and second portion 1004 can comprise a first-second portion 1004a; wherein, said first-first portion 1002a can attach to said first-second portion 1004a.

Various changes in the details of the illustrated operational methods are possible without departing from the scope of the following claims. Some embodiments may combine the activities described herein as being separate steps. Similarly, one or more of the described steps may be omitted, depending upon the specific operational environment the method is being implemented in. It is to be understood that the above description is intended to be illustrative, and not restrictive. For example, the above-described embodiments may be used in combination with each other. Many other embodiments will be apparent to those of skill in the art upon reviewing the above description. The scope of the invention should, therefore, be determined with reference to the appended claims, along with the full scope of equivalents to which such claims are entitled. In the appended claims, the terms “including” and “in which” are used as the plain-English equivalents of the respective terms “comprising” and “wherein.”

Claims

1. A panel system comprising:

a panel having a first side and a second side,

an attaching means capable of releasably holding said panel to a garment in a first position and a second position,

a first message on said first side of said panel, and

a second message on said second side of said panel; wherein, releasably holding said panel to said garment in said first position comprises orienting said second side of said panel toward said garment by said attaching means, attaching said panel to said panel, and displaying said first side of said panel with said first message; releasably holding said panel to said garment in said second position comprises orienting said first side of said panel toward said garment by said attaching means and displaying said second side of said panel with said second message; and said first message and said second message comprise one or more emotional states of a user of said panel system.

2. A panel system comprising:

a panel having a first side and a second side,

an attaching means capable of releasably holding said panel to a garment in a first position and a second position,

a first message on said first side of said panel, and

a second message on said second side of said panel; wherein, releasably holding said panel to said garment in said first position comprises orienting said second side of said panel toward said garment by said attaching means, attaching said panel to said panel, and displaying said first side of said panel with said first message; and releasably holding said panel to said garment in said second position comprises orienting said first side of said panel toward said garment by said attaching means and displaying said second side of said panel with said second message.

3. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said attaching means comprises one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners having one or more first portions and one or more second portions.

4. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said attaching means comprises one or more sets of corresponding magnets.

5. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said attaching means comprises one or more sets of corresponding bonding materials.

6. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said attaching means comprises one or more sets of corresponding bonding materials.

7. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein

said attaching means comprises one or more buttons capable of attaching to one or more button holes, and

said panel comprises said one or more button holes.

8. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein

said attaching means comprises one or more buttons;

said one or more buttons comprising a snap-type button having a first portion and a second portion;

one of said first portion and said second portion of said snap-type button is attached to said panel and one other of said first portion and said second portion is attached to said garment;

said first portion and said second portion of said one or more buttons are capable of attaching to one another and thereby attach said panel to said garment.

9. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said first message and said second message comprise one or more emotional states of a user of said garment.

10. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said first message and said second message comprise one or more sports team logos.

11. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said first message and said second message comprise one or more company logos.

12. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said first message and said second message are sewn onto opposing sides of said panel.

13. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said first message and said second message are printed onto opposing sides of said panel.

14. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said garment comprises a shirt.

15. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said garment comprises a jacket.

16. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said garment comprises pants.

17. Said panel system of claim 2 wherein said attaching means are capable of holding a plurality of said panels on said garment.

18. A method of using a panel system comprising:

releasably holding a panel having a first side and a second side to a garment in a first position and a second position with an attaching means; wherein, releasably holding said panel to said garment in said first position comprises orienting said second side of said panel toward said garment by said attaching means, attaching said panel to said panel, and displaying said first side of said panel; and releasably holding said panel to said garment in said second position comprises orienting said first side of said panel toward said garment by said attaching means and displaying said second side of said panel; said first side of said panel comprises a first message; and, said second side of said panel comprises a second message.

19. Said method of using a panel system of claim 18 wherein

said attaching means comprises one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners having one or more first portions and one or more second portions;

said one or more first portions of said one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners are attached to said garment; and

said one or more second portions of said one or more sets of hook-and-loop fasteners are attached to said panel.

20. Said method of using a panel system of claim 18 wherein

said attaching means comprises one or more buttons capable of attaching to one or more button holes, and

said panel comprises said one or more button holes.
