A method and apparatus providing for exchanging trigger mechanisms on firearms, airsoft guns, pellet guns, water guns, and other dischargeable devices utilizing trigger mechanisms without necessitating extra disassembly of the dischargeable device. Whereby said trigger mechanisms can by removed and assembled without excessive skill or time.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The application relates to a method and apparatus providing for the removal and replacement of triggers, particularly such that the removal and replacement of triggers can be done without fully disassembling the weapon.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Prior Art

Presently, firearms, airsoft guns, pellet guns, water guns, and other dischargeable devices are discharged by activating a trigger mechanism. The standard trigger is often unappealing and at times not the best fit for a certain shooter or a certain situation. Most often, replacing a trigger mechanism requires taking apart most of the firearm and is therefore inconvenient, consumes an abundance of time, and necessitates extra skill in the art.

U.S. Pat. No. 6,298,594 provides a method and apparatus for exchanging the triggers of firearms and the like which have a firing mechanism that is actuated by manually operating a trigger element which is engaged by a finger of a user. According to this invention, the trigger assembly comprises an inter-engaging structure permitting assembly and removal of each of said trigger shoe elements only by sidewise lateral movement of each of said trigger shoe elements. Additionally, the trigger shoe is secured by a retainer screw which is threadedly received by threaded screw hole defined in the trigger mount; however, presently, most firearms employ trigger guards to protect the trigger mechanism from accidental misfire or damage. This configuration makes removal and assembly of each of said trigger shoes improbably complicated without the disassembly of a larger portion of the firearm, because it is difficult and at many times impossible for a screwdriver, hex wrench, or other tool to engage the retainer screw while the trigger guard of the firearm remains in place.

There exists a need for a method and apparatus for exchanging trigger mechanisms on firearms, airsoft guns, pellet guns, water guns, and other dischargeable devices utilizing trigger mechanisms without necessitating extra disassembly of the dischargeable device.

Objects and Advantages

Accordingly, several objects and advantages of this invention are:

    • (a) To allow for quick, convenient, secure removal and assembly of interchangeable trigger mechanisms;
    • (b) To allow for removal and assembly of interchangeable trigger mechanisms by untrained amateur users and gunsmiths;
    • (c) To increase the stability of the trigger mechanism and prevent trigger wobble;

Further objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent from a consideration of the drawings and ensuing description.

The following summary is provided to facilitate an understanding of some of the innovative features unique to the embodiments and is not intended to be a full description. A full appreciation of the various aspects of the embodiments can be gained by taking the entire specification, claims, drawings, and abstract as a whole.

In accordance with the present invention a method and apparatus providing for exchanging trigger mechanisms on firearms, airsoft guns, pellet guns, water guns, and other dischargeable devices utilizing trigger mechanisms without necessitating extra disassembly of the dischargeable device.

So that the manner in which the above recited features, advantages and objects of the present invention are attained and can be understood in detail, a more particular description of the invention, briefly summarized above, may be had by reference to the preferred embodiment thereof which is illustrated in the appended drawings, which drawings are incorporated as a part hereof.

It is to be noted however, that the appended drawings illustrate only a typical embodiment of this invention and are therefore not to be considered limiting of its scope, for the invention may admit to other equally effective embodiments.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION—FIGS 1, 2

With reference now to the drawings, the preferred embodiment of the exchangeable trigger according to the present invention is herein described. As can be seen in FIG. 1, according to the prior art, trigger shoe 51 fits snugly into trigger shoe receptacle 61 and is secured by retainer screw 52 which can be accessed by retainer screw access hole 53.

According to certain embodiments, as shown in FIG. 2, in the present invention, screws 31 engage holes in trigger shoe receptacle for screw 32 and holes in trigger bow 33 such that trigger shoe receptacle 22 is integrated with trigger bow 23. Screws 41 engage holes in trigger shoe for screw 42 and holes in trigger shoe receptacle 43 such that trigger shoe 21 is integrated with trigger shoe receptacle 22. Rolling pin 11 engages trigger shoe hole for rolling pin 12 and trigger shoe receptacle hole for rolling pin 13 such that trigger shoe 21 is integrated with trigger shoe receptacle 22.

The foregoing description of the invention has been presented for purposes of illustration and description. The embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention in various embodiments and various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. It is intended that the appended claims be construed to include other alternative embodiments of the invention except insofar as limited by the prior art.

The invention may be embodied in other forms without departing from the spirit or essential characteristics thereof. The present embodiments are therefore to be considered as illustrative and not restrictive, the scope of the invention being indicated by the appended claims rather than by the foregoing description, and all changes that come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claims are therefore intended to be embraced therein.

OPERATION—FIGS 1,2

According to the prior art, as shown in FIG. 1, trigger shoe 51 slides laterally into trigger shoe receptacle 61 and is secured by screwing in threaded screw 52 such that trigger shoe 51 is engaged to trigger shoe receptacle 61. To access screw 52 a screw adjusting element (not shown) must enter through retainer screw access hole 53 and without interfering with trigger guard 54, or else by removing the trigger elements from the firearm.

According to certain embodiments of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 2, screws 31 engage holes in trigger shoe receptacle for screw 32 and holes in trigger bow 33 such that trigger shoe receptacle 22 is integrated with trigger bow 23. Screws 41 engage holes in trigger shoe for screw 42 and holes in trigger shoe receptacle 43 such that trigger shoe 21 is integrated with trigger shoe receptacle 22. Rolling pin 11 engages trigger shoe hole for rolling pin 12 and trigger shoe receptacle hole for rolling pin 13 such that trigger shoe 21 is integrated with trigger shoe receptacle 22.

CONCLUSION, RAMIFICATIONS, SCOPE

Thus, the reader will see that the method and apparatus will provide for exchanging trigger mechanisms on firearms, airsoft guns, pellet guns, water guns, and other dischargeable devices utilizing trigger mechanisms without necessitating extra disassembly of the dischargeable device. While the above description contains many specifications, these should not be construed as limitations of the scope of the invention, but rather as an exemplification of a preferred embodiment of the invention. Many other variations and embodiments are possible.

Accordingly, the scope of the invention should be determined not by the embodiment illustrated, but by the appended claims and their legal equivalents.

Claims

1. An interchangeable trigger system for a dischargeable device comprising:

A trigger element for assembly within the dischargeable device which can be moved forward and rearward;
A means for connecting said trigger element to said trigger system or said dischargeable device whereby disassembly of said dischargeable device is not necessary for the interchanging of various trigger elements;

2. The means from claim 1 wherein said means comprises removal and assembly of the trigger element from the side of the trigger element so as to not interfere with the other mechanisms of the dischargeable device during assembly or removal;

3. The means from claim 2 wherein said means comprises any number of screws, pins, clamps, or other means of integration that acts perpendicular to the axis of motion of the trigger element;

4. The means from claim 3 wherein said means comprises any number of screws that is inserted perpendicular to the axis of motion of the trigger element.

5. A dischargeable device comprising:

A means for firing sequence to be activated by the action of a trigger mechanism;
A means for connecting said trigger mechanism to said trigger system or said dischargeable device whereby disassembly of said dischargeable device is not necessary for the interchanging of various trigger elements;

6. The dischargeable device from claim 5 wherein said dischargeable device is a firearm.

7. The means for connecting trigger mechanism from claim 5 wherein said means comprises removal and assembly of the trigger element from the side of the trigger element so as to not interfere with the other mechanisms of the dischargeable device during assembly or removal;

8. The means from claim 7 wherein said means comprises any number of screws, pins, clamps, or other means of integration that acts perpendicular to the axis of motion of the trigger element;

9. The means from claim 8 wherein said means comprises any number of screws that is inserted perpendicular to the axis of motion of the trigger element.
