DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to FIGS. 1-4, a ceiling fan in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a fan unit 1 and a plurality of blade units 2 connected with the fan unit 1.

Each of the blade units 2 is made of a plastic material and includes an upper blade 21, a lower blade 22 combined with the upper blade 21, and a light source 23 located between the upper blade 21 and the lower blade 22.

The upper blade 21 of each of the blade units 2 is made of a transparent plastic material. The upper blade 21 of each of the blade units 2 has an edge provided with a flange 211 (see FIG. 2a). The upper blade 21 of each of the blade units 2 has a side provided with at least one reinforcing strip 212 (see FIG. 2a).

The lower blade 22 of each of the blade units 2 is made of a transparent plastic material. The lower blade 22 of each of the blade units 2 has an edge provided with a groove 221 (see FIG. 2b) combined with the flange 211 of the upper blade 21. Preferably, the groove 221 of the lower blade 22 of each of the blade units 2 is combined with the flange 211 of the upper blade 21 by ultrasonic waves. The lower blade 22 of each of the blade units 2 has a side provided with at least one reinforcing channel 222 combined with the reinforcing strip 212 of the upper blade 21. Preferably, the reinforcing channel 222 of the lower blade 22 of each of the blade units 2 is combined with the reinforcing strip 212 of the upper blade 21 by ultrasonic waves.

The light source 23 of each of the blade units 2 is mounted on the lower blade 22 and covered by the upper blade 21. Preferably, the light source 23 of each of the blade units 2 is light emitting diode (LED) lamp. The light source 23 of each of the blade units 2 has multiple colors to enhance the aesthetic quality of each of the blade units 2.

As shown in FIG. 5, each of the blade units 2 has a first end and a second end and has a thickness that is increased gradually from the first end to the second end thereof Thus, each of the blade units 2 is designed by an aerodynamic principle to have a tapered shape with a variable thickness, so as to reduce an electro-mechanical load, to increase its rotation speed, and to stabilize a downward air current.

Accordingly, each of the blade units 2 is made of a plastic material to decrease the cost of fabrication of the ceiling fan. In addition, each of the blade units 2 is made of a plastic material to reduce the weight of the ceiling fan. Further, the reinforcing channel 222 of the lower blade 22 of each of the blade units 2 is combined with the reinforcing strip 212 of the upper blade 21 to increase the strength of each of the blade units 2 so that each of the blade units 2 will not be easily distorted or deformed. Further, each of the blade units 2 is made of a plastic material to reduce the starting power of a drive motor of the ceiling fan, thereby saving the electric energy. Further, each of the blade units 2 is made of a plastic material, without having to cut the wood of a tree, thereby achieving the purpose of environmental protection. Further, each of the blade units 2 includes a light source 23 to provide a lighting function. Further, each of the blade units 2 has a tapered shape with a variable thickness, so as to reduce an electro-mechanical load, to increase its rotation speed, and to stabilize a downward air current.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
