Description

The Ergo-Ride Pro is a hammer carrying device. It is designed to carry a hammer at a slant with the hammer head facing toward the right hip of the wearer. The handle of the hammer slants down and toward the left side of the wearer. Note that the hammers slant would be reversed in the left handed version of the devise. The lower end of the hammer handle rides behind the back of the left thigh thereby preventing the end of the hammer handle from striking the back of the wearer's legs as they walk.

The device is composed of a flat piece of material (FIG. 1, #1) i.e. Sheet metal or plastic encased in fabric, leather, etc. folded in half and riveted (FIG. 1 #3) with spacers (FIG. 2 #4) between the two ends. The space in between the two halves (FIG. 3 #5) creates a belt loop. On the outward side (the side facing away from the body when worn) of the device is a rigid hammer sleeve (FIG. 1 #2) The sleeve is tilted at an angle and flared at both ends to allow a hammer handle to slide in and out freely. The rivets and spacers (FIG. 2 #4) that hold the body of the devise together are placed in such a way as to form a holder for a “cat's paw”. The “cat's paw” rides at a similar angle as the hammer, but in the opposite direction (down and to the right on the right handed model and vice versa on the left handed model). The “cat's paw” rides between the front and back half of the body of the device.

The Ergo-Ride Pro can be composed of various types of sheet metal, plastic, or carbon fiber etc. by itself or encased in fabric or leather. Or, it could be molded from various plastics or other materials.

Claims

1. ELIMINATES LEG BATTER caused by repeated blows from the freely swinging handle against the back of the legs

2. SMOOTHER DRAW. The angle allows for smoother drawing and re-holstering of a hammer.

3. PREVENTS SNAGGING. The hammer rides higher and behind the left thigh instead of between the legs. This prevents the handle from catching on string lines, rebar, and other job site obstacles. It also prevents the hammer handle from tangling between the wearers legs thus preventing a trip hazard.

4. PREVENTS SPILLING OF HAMMER. When crouching with other hammer holders the hammer handle comes in contact with the ground causing the hammer to lift and topple out of the holder. In the Ergo-Ride Pro the hammer typically does not make contact with the ground even when crouching.

5. CAT'S PAW HOLDER. Enables the wearer to carry a cat's paw in the same device.
