ADJUSTABLE BALLET BAR

The present invention is an adjustable ballet bar utilized by a child that includes a horizontal bar that forms a linear top portion of the adjustable ballet bar, a pair of vertical bars with a vertical top half and a vertical bottom half and a first plurality of apertures disposed on the vertical top half of the pair of vertical bars and the vertical bottom half of the pair of vertical bars, the vertical top half and the vertical bottom half telescopically move to correspond to form a second plurality of apertures. A pair of adjustable pins is removably inserted into the second plurality of apertures to set the horizontal bar at a predetermined height and a base with a linear I-shape that is attached to a bottom portion of the vertical bottom half.

TECHNICAL FIELD & BACKGROUND

Some children begin dance lessons at a young age and require additional practice at home. Dance equipment for the home can be expensive and requires a large amount of space.

The present invention generally relates to a ballet bar. More specifically, the invention is an adjustable ballet bar.

It is an object of the present invention to provide an adjustable ballet bar that is a relatively low risk investment, is adjustable, portable, relatively easy to assemble, relatively easy to disassemble, relatively easy to store, is a standalone device, requires no holes in any walls, is relatively lightweight, requires no batteries and wires and is relatively safe.

It is an object of the present invention to provide an adjustable ballet bar that requires hands on activity, physical activity, enhances creative thinking, imagination and builds confidence in children.

What is really needed is an adjustable ballet bar that is a relatively low risk investment, is adjustable, portable, relatively easy to assemble, relatively easy to disassemble, relatively easy to store, is a standalone device, requires no holes in any walls, is relatively lightweight, requires no batteries and wires and is relatively safe that requires hands on activity, physical activity, enhances creative thinking, imagination and builds confidence in children.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS

Various aspects of the illustrative embodiments will be described using terms commonly employed by those skilled in the art to convey the substance of their work to others skilled in the art. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced with only some of the described aspects. For purposes of explanation, specific numbers, materials and configurations are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the illustrative embodiments. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details. In other instances, well-known features are omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the illustrative embodiments.

Various operations will be described as multiple discrete operations, in turn, in a manner that is most helpful in understanding the present invention. However, the order of description should not be construed as to imply that these operations are necessarily order dependent. In particular, these operations need not be performed in the order of presentation.

The phrase “in one embodiment” is utilized repeatedly. The phrase generally does not refer to the same embodiment, however, it may. The terms “comprising”, “having” and “including” are synonymous, unless the context dictates otherwise.

FIG. 1 illustrates a front perspective view of an adjustable ballet bar 100, according to an embodiment of the present invention.

The adjustable ballet bar 100 includes a horizontal bar 110, a pair of vertical bars 120, a first plurality of apertures 130, a pair of adjustable pins 140 and a base 150. The horizontal bar 110 has a pair of ends 112 and forms a linear top portion 102 of the adjustable ballet bar 100 where a child can place their foot or leg on to perform one or more stretching exercises or other suitable exercises. The horizontal bar 110 is made of polyvinyl chloride piping or PVC but can be made of other suitable material such as metal. The horizontal bar 110 is approximately 3 feet in length which is well-suited for use by children approximately 4 years or older. The pair of vertical bars 120 each include a vertical top half 122 and a vertical bottom half 124. Each vertical bar 120 is attached to each end 112 of the horizontal bar 110. The vertical top half 122 of the pair of vertical bars 120 slides vertically within the vertical bottom half 124 of the pair of vertical bars 120 to control the height of the attached horizontal bar 110. The vertical top half 122 of the pair of vertical bars 120 is approximately ¾ths of an inch in width and the vertical bottom half 124 of the pair of vertical bars 120 is approximately 1-¼ of an inch in width. The pair of vertical bars 120 is made of polyvinyl chloride piping or PVC but can be made of other suitable material such as metal. The first plurality of apertures 130 are disposed on the vertical top half 122 of the pair of vertical bars 120 and the vertical bottom half 124 with a vertical bottom portion 126 of the pair of vertical bars 120 and when telescopically moved correspond to form a second plurality of apertures 132. The pair of adjustable pins 140 is removably inserted into the second plurality of apertures 132 to set the horizontal bar 110 at a predetermined height. The predetermined height of the horizontal bar 110 can be set at approximately 38 inches in height, approximately 40 inches in height, approximately 42 inches in height or any other suitable height. The predetermined height of the horizontal bar 110 can be set at approximately 38 inches in height, approximately 40 inches in height and approximately 42 inches in height which are heights that are well-suited for use by children approximately 4 years or older. The base 150 has a linear I-shape 152 that is attached to the bottom portion 126 of the vertical bottom half 124 of the pair of vertical bars 120 to provide stability and support to the adjustable ballet bar 100 and can be any other suitable shape.

The adjustable ballet bar is a portable dance toy. Made of PVC piping and a pair of metal pins, the adjustable ballet bar weighs approximately 8.8 pounds and can be quickly and easily disassembled. The vertical bar of the adjustable ballet bar can be adjusted to three different settings of approximately 38 inches in height, approximately 40 inches in height and approximately 42 inches in height. These heights are based on the child's height along with an approximately 3 foot long horizontal bar. The adjustable ballet bar may provide hours of fun and creative activity for children ages approximately 4 years old and older. The adjustable ballet bar features portable dance equipment that may be relatively easily assembled in the home. The adjustable ballet bar is also designed to be available in a variety of colors and patterns.

While the present invention has been related in terms of the foregoing embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described. The present invention can be practiced with modification and alteration within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Thus, the description is to be regarded as illustrative instead of restrictive on the present invention.

Claims

1. An adjustable ballet bar utilized by a child with a foot and a leg, comprising:

a horizontal bar with a pair of ends, said horizontal bar forms a linear top portion of said adjustable ballet bar where said child places said foot on to perform one or more stretching exercises;
a pair of vertical bars with a vertical top half and a vertical bottom half, each said vertical bar is attached to each said end of said horizontal bar;
a first plurality of apertures disposed on said vertical top half of said pair of vertical bars and said vertical bottom half of the pair of vertical bars, said vertical top half and said vertical bottom half telescopically move to correspond to form a second plurality of apertures;
a pair of adjustable pins removably inserted into said second plurality of apertures to set said horizontal bar at a predetermined height; and
a base with a linear I-shape that is attached to a bottom portion of said vertical bottom half, said base provides stability and support to said adjustable ballet bar.

2. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 1, wherein said horizontal bar forms said linear top portion of said adjustable ballet bar where said child places said leg on to perform one or more stretching exercises.

3. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 1, wherein said horizontal bar is made of polyvinyl chloride piping.

4. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 1, wherein said horizontal bar is made of metal piping.

5. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 1, wherein said horizontal bar is approximately 3 feet in length.

6. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 1, wherein said vertical top half of said pair of vertical bars slides vertically within said vertical bottom half of said pair of vertical bars to control said height of said attached horizontal bar.

7. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 1, wherein said vertical top half of said pair of vertical bars is approximately ¾ths of an inch in width and said vertical bottom half of said pair of vertical bars is approximately 1-¼ of an inch in width.

8. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 1, wherein said pair of vertical bars is made of polyvinyl chloride piping.

9. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 1, wherein said pair of vertical bars is made of metal.

10. An adjustable ballet bar utilized by a child with a foot and a leg, comprising:

a horizontal bar with a pair of ends, said horizontal bar forms a linear top portion of said adjustable ballet bar where said child places said foot and leg on to perform one or more stretching exercises;
a pair of vertical bars with a vertical top half and a vertical bottom half, each said vertical bar is attached to each said end of said horizontal bar;
a first plurality of apertures disposed on said vertical top half of said pair of vertical bars and said vertical bottom half of the pair of vertical bars, said vertical top half and said vertical bottom half telescopically move to correspond to form a second plurality of apertures, said vertical top half of said pair of vertical bars slides vertically within said vertical bottom half of said pair of vertical bars to control said height of said attached horizontal bar;
a pair of adjustable pins removably inserted into said second plurality of apertures to set said horizontal bar at a predetermined height; and
a base with a linear I-shape that is attached to a bottom portion of said vertical bottom half, said base provides stability and support to said adjustable ballet bar.

11. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 10, wherein said horizontal bar is made of polyvinyl chloride piping.

12. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 10, wherein said horizontal bar is made of metal piping.

13. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 10, wherein said horizontal bar is approximately 3 feet in length.

14. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 10, wherein said horizontal bar is used by said child approximately 4 years or older.

15. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 10, wherein said vertical top half of said pair of vertical bars is approximately ¾ths of an inch in width and said vertical bottom half of said pair of vertical bars is approximately 1-¼ of an inch in width.

16. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 10, wherein said pair of vertical bars is made of polyvinyl chloride piping.

17. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 10, wherein said pair of vertical bars is made of metal piping.

18. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 10, wherein said predetermined height is set at approximately 38 inches in height.

19. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 10, wherein said predetermined height is set at approximately 40 inches in height.

20. The adjustable ballet bar according to claim 10, wherein said predetermined height is set at approximately 42 inches in height.
