Description

This application claims priority to provisional application No. 61/690,385 filed Jun. 26, 2012.

The Cool Seat is designed to keep a person comfortable in extremely hot weather for an extended period of time.

The coolant in the seat consists of multiple frozen gel packs as shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, insulated to release the cooling effect at a slow rate. The back of the seat is a thicker insulation to minimize the amount of coolness that escapes out the back. The front of the seat is a thinner insulation to allow a gradual escape of coolness from the frozen gel packs, thereby keeping the user cool. FIGS. 1A and 1B show the layers of insulation from a side view.

The cover, shown in FIG. 3, is a hinged unit that holds the seat back and bottom together and attaches to the stadium chair. The surface of the seat cover is a waterproof fabric that is comfortable to the skin, yet easy to clean. After each use, the seat can be cleaned and placed in the freezer to get ready for its next use.

The Cool Seat will also be configured to fit stadium bleacher seats and lawn chairs.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1A is a side view of the seat back. The rectangle on the left is the rear part of the seat back unit, a solid piece of closed cell foam used for insulation. The middle rectangle a similar piece of foam, with squares cut out to hold frozen gel packs. The narrow rectangle on the right is a thinner piece of foam designed to allow some heat transfer between the user and the frozen gel packs.

FIG. 1B is a side view of the seat bottom. The seat bottom is identical to the seat back, as described in FIG. 1A.

FIG. 2A is a front view of the seat back without the front piece of foam. The middle section of foam has squares cut out in a picture frame design. Gel packs are inserted into each of the four square pockets. After the gel packs are inserted, the front piece of foam is glued on to the middle section to seal the gel packs in place.

FIG. 2B is a front view of the seat bottom without the front piece of foam. The seat bottom is identical to the seat back, as described in FIG. 2A.

FIG. 3 is a side view of the seat cover. The cover is made of made of waterproof fabric that is comfortable to the skin, yet easy to clean. Both the seat back and bottom sections of the cover contain pockets where the foam/gel pack units can be inserted.

The pockets have flaps with Velcro to keep the pockets closed. A reinforced canvas strip connects the set back to the seat bottom and allows the seat to hinge.
