Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention is directed toward a low cut sock and in particular a sock that is completely covered by a low quarter shoe.

Low cut socks are well-known in the art and typically are used in conjunction with athletic activities such as running and golf. Yet, even with present low cut socks, a small amount of material remains exposed above the heel collar of a low quarter shoe. Desirable, for comfort and appearance, is to have a sock that is completely covered. Thus, a need exits in the art for a sock that addresses these deficiencies.

Therefore, an objective of the present invention is to provide a low cut sock that is completely covered by a low-quarter shoe when worn.

This and other objectives will become apparent to one of skill I the art based upon the following description, drawings, and claims.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A low-cut sock having a tubular body with a toe, heel, bottom and top portion. An opening, defined by an edge extends from the heel portion to the top portion and is formed such that the edge falls below a heel collar of a low quarter shoe.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIG. 1, shown is a conventional shoe 10 having a sole 12 attached to an upper portion 14. The upper portion 14 has a tongue 16, an upper edge 18 with eyelets 20, a heel section 22, and an arcuate heel collar or cuff 23 extending between the upper edge 18 and the heel section 22.

Referring to FIG. 2, a sock 24 has a tubular body 25 with a toe portion 26, a heel portion 28, a bottom portion 30 and a top portion 32 and an opening 34 defined by an edge or heel cuff 36. The opening 34 extends from the heel portion 28 to the top portion 32. The heel cuff 36 is formed such that the sock 24 is completely covered by a low quarter shoe 10 so that no portion of the sock 10 is exposed and the foot of the wearer below the ankle is uncovered. Preferably the heel cuff 36 include an elastic material with a non-slip pad 38 adjacent the heel portion 28.

In operation, a user inserts a foot through opening 34 so that the sock 24 covers the user's foot without covering the portion below the user's ankle. Next, the user inserts the foot through the heel collar 23 of shoe 10 such that the heel cuff 36 of the sock 24 is completely covered by the heel collar 23 of the shoe 10.

Accordingly, a low cut sock has been disclosed that at the very least meets all the stated objectives.

Claims

1. A low cut sock, comprising:

a tubular body having a toe portion, a heel portion, a bottom portion, and a top portion;

a heel cuff that extends from the heel portion to the top portion and is formed such that the sock is completely covered by a low quarter shoe such that no portion of the sock is exposed; and

wherein the heel cuff has a non-slip pad adjacent the heel portion.

2. The sock of claim 1 wherein the heel cuff is made of an elastic material.
