FIELD OF THE INVENTION

This embodiment of the invention relates to the field of garments and more particularly to a jeans containing elastic to provide a flexible fit for the wearer.

DISCUSSION OF RELATED ART

Several types of elastic materials are used in specific areas of garments to add a stretchable section for a flexible fit. Most garments using elastic materials normally position the stretchable material around the waist band. The expandable elastic material provides adjustability for varying waist sizes. Some fabrics utilize elastic ribbon-shaped and/or cord-shaped elements for gathering and fastening a portion of the woven or non woven fabric. Many conventional stretchable garments are specifically designed for wearing during yoga or other exercises. Existing clothing options provide little or no alternative for women seeking to purchase stylish and stretchable denim jeans. Other existing, stretch pants only provide stretch ability based on the property of the material itself. These stretchable clothing options provide very limited fashion appeal.

One prior art, taught in U.S. Pat. No. 7,874,018 issued to Wheater on Jan. 25, 2011, discloses clothing with an elastically expandable region. The elastically extendable region is formed by an elastically deformable sheet. The sheet is bonded under heat and pressure to a knitted fabric. This allows both the sheet and the knitted fabric to be expandable. The fibers of the knit allow the clothing of the trousers to expand with the greater elasticity of the sheet subsequently returning the fibers and the clothing to its original shape. However, the clothing does not provide sufficient expandability or extendability throughout its area for better fit to the wearer's body. Further, this type of clothing is not fashionably appealing.

U. S. Pat. Application No. 20090126080 entitled to Kato on May 21, 2009, describes a pair of trousers utilizing elastic to provide a stretchable waist band. The waist band improves the appearance of the trousers by preventing wrinkles on the upper part of the front and back of the trousers. However the pair of trousers employs the elastic material only around the waist band which limits its overall appearance. It fails to provide stylish and adjustable stitched jeans for women.

One prior art taught in U.S. Pat. No. 6,311,333 issued to Batra on Nov. 6, 2001, discloses pants, such as a standard jean, wherein the level of comfort in the jeans is increased by incorporating a stretchable material in particular sections of the garment. Thus, the majority of jeans or pants garment may be made of standard rigid denim or the like material but the yoke and the rear section of the waistband incorporates a stretchable material. This material is designed to be visually indistinguishable from other non-stretch material of the garment. However, once again, the stretchable material is used in specified areas only providing flexibility only in those areas. Finally the garment suffers from the same limited fashion appeal and does not provide a comfortable fit or appearance.

Therefore, there is a need for an elastic fabric and a process of gathering and stitching the fabric to achieve an acceptable, fashionable appearance as well as a flexible, comfortable fit to the wearer's body. This elastic stitched and gathered fabric would offer a unique design conforming to the wearer's body allowing a custom fit with comfort, and potentially a new fashion trend in the style of elastic garments. The present invention accomplishes these objectives.
