Reversible hypoallergenic clothing, including but not limited to jeans, pants, skirts, shirts and jackets, utilizing two-way hypoallergenic metal fasteners. The metal fasteners include double sided zippers and dual headed metallic buttons made from metals that can be considered to by hypoallergenic such as titanium and stainless steel. The hypoallergenic reversible garment may be configured into different cuts and styles according to fashion trends and are suitable for use by children, teens, men and women.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Contact dermatitis is a condition whereby skin becomes red, sore and/or inflamed following direct contact with a particular substance. There are two types of contact dermatitis: irritant and allergic.

Irritant dermatitis is caused by contact with acid or alkaline materials often found in common items such as soap, laundry detergents, fabric softeners and household cleaners. Irritant dermatitis is the most common type of contact dermatitis.

Allergic contact dermatitis is caused by exposure to a substance to which a person has become extra sensitive or allergic. Common items that can result in allergic contact dermatitis are cosmetics, rubber or latex gloves, perfumes, hair dyes, jewelry and clothing. It is the last of these that this invention addresses.

Clothing allergies may be related to the fabric, the fasteners or decorative notions. Fabric related allergies are most commonly associated with formaldehyde resins used for waterproofing and making fabric wrinkle and shrinkage resistant. Clothing fasteners and decorative notions can also be a cause of allergic reactions, particularly if the fastener or notion contains nickel, a common allergen. Nickel is one of the most common causes of allergic contact dermatitis. Fasteners such as zippers, metal buttons and metal rivets often contain nickel. Individuals with nickel allergies are often unable to wear blue jeans due to the presence of nickel in the jean's zipper and metal rivets.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The invention described in this application is reversible clothing, including but not limited to jeans, pants, skirts, shirts, and jackets utilizing two-way hypoallergenic metal fasteners. The metal fasteners include double sided zippers and dual headed metallic buttons made from metals that can be considered to by hypoallergenic such as titanium and stainless steel. The reversible garment may be made from two fabrics sewn together or a single fabric that presents an aesthetic appearance on either side. The hypoallergenic reversible garment may be configured into different sizes, cuts and styles according to fashion trends and are suitable for use by children, teens, men and women.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of reversible jeans as one example of the invention.

FIG. 2 is a front perspective view of the top section of the garment of FIG. 1 with the variation of dual headed button fasteners instead of a zipper.

FIG. 3 is a side perspective view of the reversible garment of FIG. 1 with the variation of a shorter leg length, resulting in reversible shorts.

FIG. 4 is a front perspective view of another example of the invention, a simple long sleeved shirt or jacket.

FIG. 5 is a front perspective view of another example of the invention, a short sleeved shirt with chest pockets.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The invention described in this application is reversible clothing, including but not limited to jeans, pants, skirts, shirts, and jackets utilizing two-way hypoallergenic metal fasteners. The metal fasteners include double sided zippers and dual headed metallic buttons made from metals that can be considered to by hypoallergenic such as titanium and stainless steel. The reversible garment may be made from two different lightweight fabrics sewn together or a single fabric that presents an aesthetic appearance on either side. The fabric utilized includes but is not limited to denim comprising of two variations of washes, colors or prints.

As there is no designated inside or outside with a reversible garment, the terms “Side A” and “Side B” will be used to designate the two presentation surfaces of the garment.

The embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 1 is a pair of jeans. The garment covers the lower waist portion of the body and the legs. The body of the garment (100) is comprised of one fabric or two fabrics sewn together with one surface (Side A) presenting a particular wash, color or print and the opposite surface (Side B) presenting a different wash, color or print.

Fasteners for the garment include a two-way dual head button (101) comprising of hypoallergenic metals including but not limited to titanium and stainless steel and a two-way reversible zipper that provides access from both presentation surfaces of the garment and zipper fly flap (102). FIG. 2 shows a variation of the garment where dual head buttons (103) are used in place of the zipper.

Belt loops (104) are affixed to the waistband (105) of the garment. The belt loops on Side A and Side B are sewn at slightly different positions of the waistband to increase comfort of wearing a reversible garment. The belt loops are comprised of the lightweight fabric used in the body of the garment for its appropriate surface with an underlying lightweight soft fabric to reduce the bulkiness and irritation of typical harder belt loops.

Hyperallergenic notions (106) such as rivets or studs made from titanium or stainless steel may be included on various areas of the garment including but not limited to pockets and belt loops on either or both presentation surfaces. Dual line stitching (107) is sewn on all seams, hems, pockets, zipper flap and belt loops of the garment.

FIG. 3 is a side perspective view of a shorter leg variation of the garment shown in FIG. 1, showing the body of the garment (100), dual head button (101), zipper flap (102), belt loops (104), waistband (105), notions (106), seams (107) and rear pocket (108). Another variation to this garment would be a skirt.

The embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 4 is a simple long sleeved shirt or jacket. The body of the garment (120) is comprised of one fabric or two fabrics sewn together with one surface (Side A) presenting a particular wash, color or print and the opposite surface (Side B) presenting a different wash, color or print. Fasteners for the garment shown in FIG. 4 are two-way dual head buttons (121) comprising of hypoallergenic metals including but not limited to titanium and stainless steel.

The embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 5 is a short sleeved shirt. The body of the garment (130) is comprised of one fabric or two fabrics sewn together with one surface (Side A) presenting a particular wash, color or print and the opposite surface (Side B) presenting a different wash, color or print. Fasteners for the garment shown in FIG. 5 are two-way dual head buttons (131) comprising of hypoallergenic metals including but not limited to titanium and stainless steel. This variation of the invention includes front chest pockets (132) with hypoallergenic metal snap closures (133).

The present invention described above and shown in the accompanying drawings is visualized as the preferred embodiment of the invention. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein. It will be understood by those skilled in the art that changes in forms and details may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present application. It is therefore intended that the present invention not be limited to the exact forms and details described and illustrated herein, but falls within the scope of the appended claims.

The terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting of the invention. As used herein, the singular forms “a”, “an” and “the” are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. It will be further understood that the terms “comprises” and/or “comprising,” when used in this specification, specify the presence of stated features, integers, steps, operations, elements, and/or components, but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, integers, steps, operations, elements, components, and/or groups thereof. As used herein, the term “and/or” includes any and all combinations of one or more of the associated listed items.

Unless otherwise defined, all terms (including technical and scientific terms) used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one of ordinary skill in the art to which this invention belongs. It will be further understood that terms, such as those defined in commonly used dictionaries, should be interpreted as having a meaning that is consistent with their meaning in the context of the specification and relevant art and should not be interpreted in an idealized or overly formal sense unless expressly so defined herein. Well-known functions or constructions may not be described in detail for brevity and/or clarity.

It will be understood that when an element is referred to as being “on”, “attached” to, “connected” to, “coupled” with, “contacting”, etc., another element, it can be directly on, attached to, connected to, coupled with or contacting the other element or intervening elements may also be present. In contrast, when an element is referred to as being, for example, “directly on”, “directly attached” to, “directly connected” to, “directly coupled” with or “directly contacting” another element, there are no intervening elements present. It will also be appreciated by those of skill in the art that references to a stricture or feature that is disposed “adjacent” another feature may have portions that overlap or underlie the adjacent feature.

Claims

1. A hypoallergenic reversible garment consisting essentially of one or more fabrics, thread, hypoallergenic fasteners and notions.

2. The garment according to claim 1, wherein said hypoallergenic fasteners are dual headed metallic buttons comprised of titanium or stainless steel.

3. The garment according to claim 1, wherein said hypoallergenic fastener is a double sided zipper with low nickel content accessible from both presentation surfaces of the garment

4. The garment according to claim 1, wherein said notions are comprised of titanium or stainless steel.

5. A method of making hypoallergenic garments utilizing dual headed titanium, stainless steel or other hypoallergenic metal buttons as fasteners.
