Diaper and Wipe Dispenser

A diaper and wipe dispenser that is used to conceal baby products. The diaper and wipe dispenser is designed to be seamlessly integrated into the decor of a house and can be securely mounted to a surface. The diaper and wipe dispenser has a storage body and a decorative door panel that are hingedly connected. The storage body provides a diaper storage compartment, a wipe storage compartment, and an additional storage compartment, while the decorative door panel serves as an access panel for said compartments of the storage body. The decorative door panel has a face plate that allows the diaper and wipe dispenser to be concealed as a picture, mirror, corkboard, etc. A diaper dispensing slot and a wipe dispensing slot traverse through the storage body and provide easy access to the inner contents of the storage body while maintaining the decorative appearance of the diaper and wipe dispenser.

The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 61/722,846 filed on Nov. 6, 2012.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to a decorative storage unit. More specifically, the present invention is a diaper and wipe dispenser that is designed to seamlessly blend in with typical home decor.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Changing a baby's diaper is one of the many jobs of being a parent. This process is often carried out with one hand as the parent's other hand is generally used to hold a baby on the table/changing station. This in turn leads to the difficulty of removing a single diaper from a stack and the accompanying wipes from a container. In order to ease the process, diaper and wipe dispensers have been developed such that a single diaper or wipe can be easily dispensed using one hand. Often times it is still difficult to remove the diaper or wipe with one hand without moving the entire dispenser. Furthermore, the dispensers currently produced are not aesthetically pleasing. They look out of place and take away from the overall look and decor of a room.

Therefore it is the object of the present invention to provide a securely mounted, decorative storage unit that is used to conceal baby products. A storage body and a decorative door panel are connected to form a diaper and wipe dispenser. The storage body provides a diaper storage compartment, a wipe storage compartment, and an additional storage compartment, while the decorative door panel is connected to the storage body and serves as an access panel for said compartments of the storage body. The decorative door panel has a face plate that allows the diaper and wipe dispenser to be concealed as a picture, mirror, corkboard, etc. The present invention is designed such that it can be seamlessly integrated into the decor of a house. Discrete cuts in the storage body provide easy access to the inner contents of the storage body while maintaining the decorative appearance of the diaper and wipe dispenser.

 DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

The present invention is a diaper and wipe dispenser that is used to store and decoratively conceal baby products. The diaper and wipe dispenser comprises a storage body 1, a decorative door panel 2, a diaper dispensing slot 32, and a wipe dispensing slot 43. The storage body 1 provides a plurality of storage compartments for stashing baby products such as diapers, wipes, lotion, baby powder, sanitizer, etc. The decorative door panel 2 is hingedly connected to the storage body 1 and serves as the access panel through which baby products are loaded into the storage body 1, as shown in FIG. 1-2. The diaper dispensing slot 32 and the wipe dispensing slot 43 allow for quick removal of diapers and wipes, respectively. It is also possible for the diaper and wipe dispenser to further comprise additional slots for dispensing other baby products, such as lotion, sanitizer, etc. While the diaper and wipe dispenser is used to store baby products in the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the diaper and wipe dispenser can be used to store any type of products. Furthermore, it is possible for the diaper and wipe dispenser to be produced in any number of different shapes and sizes.

In reference to FIG. 2-4, the storage body 1 is designed such that there are at least three different storage compartments. These storage compartments are formed from the various panels of the storage body 1. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the storage body 1 is constructed from wood, however, it is possible for the storage body 1 to be constructed using any other material(s). Additionally, the storage body 1 can be produced in any number of different colors and finishes. The storage body 1 comprises a top panel 11, a bottom panel 12, a first side panel 13, a second side panel 14, a back panel 15, a vertical partition 16, a horizontal partition 17, a sloped base 31, and an at least one variable height shelf 51. The top panel 11, first side panel 13, vertical partition 16, and horizontal partition 17 delineate a diaper storage compartment 3. The bottom panel 12, first side panel 13, second side panel 14, and horizontal partition 17 delineate a wipe storage compartment 4. The top panel 11, second side panel 14, vertical partition 16, and horizontal partition 17 delineate an additional storage compartment 5. The diaper storage compartment 3 is designed to store and dispense diapers, the wipe storage compartment 4 is designed to store and dispense baby wipes, and the additional storage compartment 5 is designed to store various baby products.

In reference to FIG. 6-11, the back panel 15 provides a flat surface for mounting the diaper and wipe dispenser to a wall or other flat surface. Mounting brackets may be connected to the back panel 15 in order to allow for easier installation of the diaper and wipe dispenser. The top panel 11, the bottom panel 12, the first side panel 13, the second side panel 14, the vertical partition 16, and the horizontal partition 17 are perpendicularly connected to the back panel 15 in order to form a frame structure of the storage body 1. The top panel 11, the bottom panel 12, the first side panel 13, and the second side panel 14 are perimetrically positioned around the back panel 15 in order to form an outer wall of the storage body 1. Both the bottom panel 12 and the horizontal partition 17 are parallel to the top panel 11, while the first side panel 13, the second side panel 14, and the vertical partition 16 are perpendicular to the top panel 11.

In reference to FIG. 2 and FIG. 6, the vertical partition 16 and the horizontal partition 17 are positioned within the outer wall and separate the storage body 1 into the diaper storage compartment 3, the wipe storage compartment 4, and the additional storage compartment 5. The horizontal partition 17 is positioned in between the first side panel 13 and the second side panel 14 and is connected to both the first side panel 13 and the second side panel 14. In this way, the storage body 1 is divided into an upper section and a lower section, the lower section being the wipe storage compartment 4. The vertical partition 16 is positioned in between the top panel 11 and the horizontal partition 17 and is connected to both the top panel 11 and the horizontal partition 17. In this way, the upper section formed by the horizontal partition 17 is divided into an upper left section and an upper right section, the upper left section being the additional compartment and the upper right section being the diaper storage compartment 3.

In further reference to FIG. 2 and FIG. 6, the diaper storage compartment 3 is used to store diapers and is designed to be used with diapers of any size. Diapers are loaded into the diaper storage compartment 3 through the front of the storage body 1 and can be easily accessed by a user through the diaper dispensing slot 32. The sloped base 31 is positioned within the diaper storage compartment 3, perpendicular to the back panel 15 and provides the surface on which diapers are stacked. The sloped base 31 is positioned within the diaper dispensing compartment such that the sloped base 31 is diagonally wedged in between the first side panel 13 and the vertical partition 16, with a lower end 311 of the sloped base 31 adjacent to the first side panel 13. The diaper dispensing slot 32 traverses through the first side panel 13 and is positioned adjacent to the lower end 311 of the sloped base 31.

The diaper dispensing slot 32 is a T-shaped opening that provides access to the diaper storage compartment 3, as shown in FIG. 9. The diaper dispensing slot 32 allows the user to easily remove a diaper from the diaper and wipe dispenser using one hand. The T-shaped design of the diaper dispensing slot 32 allows a user to easily remove a diaper, while concealing a majority of the diapers stored within the diaper storage compartment 3. The diagonal mounting of the sloped base 31 within the diaper storage compartment 3 utilizes the force of gravity to aide in the removal of diapers from the diaper storage compartment 3 through the diaper dispensing slot 32. In this way, diapers can more readily be pulled through the diaper dispensing slot 32 using one hand. It also helps prevent the entire diaper and wipe dispenser from moving while attempting to remove a diaper. A flap can also be used to cover the diaper dispenser. The flap can be made of rubber or other flexible material and is the same color as the storage body 1. In this way, the flap conceals the diaper dispensing slot 32 while still allowing diapers to be easily removed.

In reference to FIG. 4 and FIG. 6, the wipe storage compartment 4 is used to store baby wipes. Baby wipes are loaded into the wipe storage compartment 4 through the front of the storage body 1 and can be easily accessed by a user through the wipe dispensing slot 43. The diaper dispensing slot 32 traverses through the bottom panel 12, allowing wipes to be removed through the bottom of the storage body 1. The storage body 1 also comprises a wipe strap 41, which secures a package of wipes within the wipe storage compartment 4. As such, the wipe strap 41 is positioned within the wipe storage compartment 4 and is connected to the bottom panel 12 across along the wipe dispensing slot 43.

The wipe dispensing slot 43 is a rounded-rectangle shaped opening that provides access to the wipe storage compartment 4, as shown in FIG. 11. The wipe dispensing slot 43 allows the user to easily remove a baby wipe from the diaper and wipe dispenser using one hand, while concealing the remaining baby wipes stored within the wipe storage container. Both disposable and re-usable wipe containers can be used with the diaper and wipe dispenser. The desired type of wipe container is placed upside down on the bottom panel 12 such that the wipe container is positioned over top of the wipe dispensing slot 43. The wipe strap 41 is an elastic band that is securely connected at both ends to the bottom panel 12. In this way, the wipe strap 41 is stretched around the wipe container to securely hold the wipe container in place over top of the wipe dispensing slot 43. This allows the wipe container to readily be inserted or removed from the wipe storage compartment 4 with minimal effort. It is also possible for a reusable wipe container to be permanently affixed or otherwise attached to the bottom panel 12 above the wipe dispensing slot 43.

In reference to FIG. 13, the storage body 1 may further comprise a wipe door 42 in other embodiments of the present invention. The wipe door 42 is hingedly connected to the bottom panel 12 adjacent to the wipe dispensing slot 43 and allows the user to completely close the wipe dispensing slot 43. While one end of the wipe door 42 is hingedly connected to the bottom panel 12, the opposite end can be attached to or detached from the bottom panel 12 within the wipe dispensing slot 43. Ideally the wipe door 42 snaps in and out of place, however, other methods of attachment may be used. Additionally, the function of the wipe door 42 may be provided using any other methods of closure, such as re-sealable flap.

In reference to FIG. 3, the additional storage compartment 5 is used to store various baby products. Baby products stored in the additional storage compartment 5 are accessed through the front of the storage body 1. The at least one variable height shelf 51 is positioned within the additional storage compartment 5, perpendicular to the back panel 15 and parallel with the top panel 11. The at least one variable height shelf 51 is removably attached to both the second side panel 14 and the vertical partition 16, such that the at least one variable height shelf 51 separates the additional storage compartment 5 into multiple sub-compartments. The removable attachment of the at least one variable height shelf 51 allows the at least one variable height shelf 51 to be positioned at various heights in between the second side wall and the vertical partition 16 in order to form sub-compartments of various sizes. The ability to form sub-compartments of various sizes allows the additional storage compartment 5 to be adapted for use with many differently sized baby products.

In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the at least one variable height shelf 51 is attached to the second side wall and the vertical partition 16 by means of a plurality of shelf pegs. A plurality of peg holes is positioned along both the second side wall and the vertical partition 16. The plurality of shelf pegs are removably positioned within the plurality of peg holes, such that the plurality of shelf pegs can be positioned at various heights within the additional storage compartment 5. Once positioned within the plurality of peg holes, the plurality of shelf pegs provides resting points on which the at least one variable height shelf 51 is seated.

In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the at least one variable height shelf 51 may also be positioned within the diaper compartment, as shown in FIG. 14. Similar to the positioning of the at least one variable height shelf 51 within the additional storage compartment 5, the at least one variable height shelf 51 is perpendicular to the back panel 15 and parallel with the to panel. The at least one variable height shelf 51 is removably attached to both the first side wall and the vertical partition 16.

In reference to FIG. 2, baby products are loaded into the diaper and wipe dispenser through the decorative door panel 2. The decorative door panel 2 comprises a door frame 21, a face plate 22, and a rear access panel 23. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the door frame 21 is constructed from wood, however, it is possible for the door frame 21 to be constructed using any other material(s). Additionally, the door frame 21 can be produced in any number of different colors and finishes. The door frame 21 is hingedly connected to the storage body 1, such that the decorative door panel 2 may be pivotally moved to open and close the diaper and wipe dispenser.

In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the door frame 21 is connected to the storage body 1 by a plurality of hinges that are self closing. In this way, no further locking mechanism is needed to secure the decorative door panel 2 in the closed position. When a user releases the decorative door panel 2 it will swing back to its original closed position. The plurality of hinges can also be designed such that the decorative door panel 2 will remain open once the plurality of hinges have been opened past a certain locking point. In this way, the user must manually close the decorative door panel 2 past the locking point, after which the decorative door panel 2 will continue to close. It is possible for any other type of hinges to be used. If self closing hinges are not used, then it may be necessary to include a locking mechanism to secure the decorative door panel 2 in the closed position. Any locking mechanism can be used, such as a magnet, latch, or key lock.

In reference to FIG. 12, the face plate 22 is a piece of glass that is fitted into the door frame 21 and braced by the rear access panel 23. In this way, the face plate 22 is attached to the door frame 21, with the door frame 21 perimetrically encompassing the face plate 22. A picture is positioned in between the face plate 22 and the rear access panel 23, such that the picture is visible through the front of the decorative door panel 2. The rear access panel 23 is perimetrically attached to the door frame 21, such that pictures may be interchanged. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of rotating clasps are used to secure the rear access panel 23 to the door frame 21, as shown in FIG. 3. The plurality of rotating claps are connected to the door frame 21 and can be positioned to extend over the rear access panel 23, when the rear access panel 23 is inserted into the door frame 21, in order to hold the rear access panel 23 in place. The ability to function as a picture frame allows the diaper and wipe dispenser to blend in with the decor of a room, such that an individual would not know that the diaper and wipe dispenser is used to store baby products.

In other embodiments of the present invention, the face plate 22 may be a mirror, cork board, white board, or any other decorative or functional surface. Depending on the type of face plate 22, the face plate 22 may be differently attached to the door frame 21. For example, in the instance of a mirror type face plate 22, the face plate 22 may be permanently affixed to the door frame 21. Alternatively, a mirror type face plate 22 may be designed to be removably inserted over top of an existing face plate 22. Furthermore, a mirror type face plate 22 could be attached as described in the above paragraph using the rear access panel 23.

The diaper and wipe dispenser can be used in almost any location in a user's house. The diaper and wipe dispenser can be made from different materials and in different colors to provide a wide range of designs to match the decor of any household. Once a user has selected a diaper and wipe dispenser of his or her liking, the diaper and wipe dispenser can be hung in any accessible location, generally an area of the house in which diaper changes are frequently performed. The diaper and wipe dispenser seamlessly blends in with the decor of the room concealing the baby products stored within. Aside from the discrete openings of the diaper dispensing slot 32 and the wipe dispensing slot 43, the diaper and wipe dispenser presents no indication that it is used to conceal baby products.

In reference to FIG. 14, when the diaper and wipe dispenser is no longer needed to store baby products, the diaper and wipe dispenser can be adapted for use with other products. The sloped base 31 can be removed from the diaper storage compartment 3, such that the horizontal partition 17 serves as a flat base for the diaper storage compartment 3. The sloped base 31 can then be placed within the wipe storage compartment 4, over top of the wipe dispensing slot 43, such that storage items may rest on top of the sloped base 31. If desired, the at least one variable height shelf 51 may be positioned within the diaper storage compartment 3 in order to provide additional sub-compartments for storage items.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims

1. A diaper and wipe dispenser comprises:

a storage body;
a decorative door panel;
a wipe dispensing slot;
a diaper dispensing slot;
the storage body comprises a top panel, a bottom panel, a first side panel, a second side panel, a back panel, a vertical partition, a horizontal partition, a sloped base, and an at least one variable height shelf;
the decorative door panel comprises a door frame and a face plate;
the door frame being hingedly connected to the storage body;
the wipe dispensing slot traversing through the bottom panel;
the diaper dispensing slot traversing through the side panel;
the top panel, the first side panel, the horizontal partition, and the vertical partition delineating a diaper storage compartment;
the bottom panel, the first side panel, the second side panel, and the horizontal partition delineating a wipe storage compartment; and
the top panel, the bottom panel, the second side panel, and vertical partition delineating an additional storage compartment.

2. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the top panel, the bottom panel, the first side panel, the second side panel, the vertical partition, and the horizontal partition being perpendicularly connected to the back panel;
the top panel, the bottom panel, the first side panel, and the second side panel being perimetrically positioned around the back panel;
the bottom panel and the horizontal partition being parallel to the top panel; and
the first side panel, the second side panel, and the vertical partition being perpendicular to the top panel.

3. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the horizontal partition being positioned in between the first side panel and the second side panel;
the horizontal partition being connected to both the first side panel and the second side panel;
the vertical partition being positioned in between the top panel and the horizontal partition; and
the vertical partition being connected to both the top panel and the horizontal partition.

4. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the sloped base being positioned within the diaper storage compartment;
the sloped base being perpendicular to the back plate;
the sloped base being diagonally wedged in between the first side panel and the vertical partition; and
the diaper dispensing slot being positioned adjacent to a lower end of the sloped base.

5. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the at least one variable height shelf being positioned within the additional compartment;
the at least one variable height shelf being perpendicular to the back panel;
the at least one variable height shelf being parallel with the top panel; and
the at least one variable height shelf being attached to both the second side panel and the vertical partition.

6. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the at least one variable height shelf being positioned within the diaper storage compartment;
the at least one variable height shelf being perpendicular to the back panel;
the at least one variable height shelf being parallel with the top panel; and
the at least one variable height shelf being attached to both the first side panel and the vertical partition.

7. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the face plate being attached to the door frame; and
the door frame perimetrically encompassing the face plate.

8. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the decorative door panel further comprises a rear access panel;
the rear access panel being perimetrically attached to the door frame; and
the face plate being braced by the rear access panel.

9. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the storage body further comprises a wipe strap;
the wipe strap being positioned within the wipe storage compartment; and
the wipe strap being connected to the bottom panel along the wipe dispensing slot.

10. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the storage body further comprises a wipe door; and
the wipe door being hingedly connected to the bottom panel adjacent to the wipe dispensing slot.

11. A diaper and wipe dispenser comprises:

a storage body;
a decorative door panel;
a wipe dispensing slot;
a diaper dispensing slot;
the storage body comprises a top panel, a bottom panel, a first side panel, a second side panel, a back panel, a vertical partition, a horizontal partition, a sloped base, an at least one variable height shelf, and a wipe strap;
the decorative door panel comprises a door frame and a face plate;
the door frame being hingedly connected to the storage body;
the wipe dispensing slot traversing through the bottom panel;
the diaper dispensing slot traversing through the side panel;
the top panel, the first side panel, the horizontal partition, and the vertical partition delineating a diaper storage compartment;
the bottom panel, the first side panel, the second side panel, and the horizontal partition delineating a wipe storage compartment;
the top panel, the bottom panel, the second side panel, and vertical partition delineating an additional storage compartment;
the sloped base being positioned within the diaper storage compartment;
the sloped base being perpendicular to the back plate;
the sloped base being diagonally wedged in between the first side panel and the vertical partition;
the diaper dispensing slot being positioned adjacent to a lower end of the sloped base;
the wipe strap being positioned within the wipe storage compartment;
the wipe strap being connected to the bottom panel along the wipe dispensing slot;
the face plate being attached to the door frame; and
the door frame perimetrically encompassing the face plate.

12. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 11 comprises:

the top panel, the bottom panel, the first side panel, the second side panel, the vertical partition, and the horizontal partition being perpendicularly connected to the back panel;
the top panel, the bottom panel, the first side panel, and the second side panel being perimetrically positioned around the back panel;
the bottom panel and the horizontal partition being parallel to the top panel;
the first side panel, the second side panel, and the vertical partition being perpendicular to the top panel;
the horizontal partition being positioned in between the first side panel and the second side panel;
the horizontal partition being connected to both the first side panel and the second side panel;
the vertical partition being positioned in between the top panel and the horizontal partition; and
the vertical partition being connected to both the top panel and the horizontal partition.

13. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 11 comprises:

the at least one variable height shelf being positioned within the additional compartment;
the at least one variable height shelf being perpendicular to the back panel;
the at least one variable height shelf being parallel with the top panel; and
the at least one variable height shelf being attached to both the second side panel and the vertical partition.

14. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 11 comprises:

the at least one variable height shelf being positioned within the diaper storage compartment;
the at least one variable height shelf being perpendicular to the back panel;
the at least one variable height shelf being parallel with the top panel; and
the at least one variable height shelf being attached to both the first side panel and the vertical partition.

15. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 11 comprises:

the decorative door panel further comprises a rear access panel;
the rear access panel being perimetrically attached to the door frame; and
the face plate being braced by the rear access panel.

16. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 11 comprises:

the storage body further comprises a wipe door; and
the wipe door being hingedly connected to the bottom panel adjacent to the wipe dispensing slot.

17. A diaper and wipe dispenser comprises:

a storage body;
a decorative door panel;
a wipe dispensing slot;
a diaper dispensing slot;
the storage body comprises a top panel, a bottom panel, a first side panel, a second side panel, a back panel, a vertical partition, a horizontal partition, a sloped base, an at least one variable height shelf, and a wipe strap;
the decorative door panel comprises a door frame, a face plate, and a rear access panel;
the door frame being hingedly connected to the storage body;
the wipe dispensing slot traversing through the bottom panel;
the diaper dispensing slot traversing through the side panel;
the top panel, the first side panel, the horizontal partition, and the vertical partition delineating a diaper storage compartment;
the bottom panel, the first side panel, the second side panel, and the horizontal partition delineating a wipe storage compartment;
the top panel, the bottom panel, the second side panel, and vertical partition delineating an additional storage compartment;
the sloped base being positioned within the diaper storage compartment;
the sloped base being perpendicular to the back plate;
the sloped base being diagonally wedged in between the first side panel and the vertical partition;
the diaper dispensing slot being positioned adjacent to a lower end of the sloped base;
the wipe strap being positioned within the wipe storage compartment;
the wipe strap being connected to the bottom panel along the wipe dispensing slot;
the face plate being attached to the door frame;
the door frame perimetrically encompassing the face plate;
the rear access panel being perimetrically attached to the door frame; and

18. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 17 comprises:

the top panel, the bottom panel, the first side panel, the second side panel, the vertical partition, and the horizontal partition being perpendicularly connected to the back panel;
the top panel, the bottom panel, the first side panel, and the second side panel being perimetrically positioned around the back panel;
the bottom panel and the horizontal partition being parallel to the top panel;
the first side panel, the second side panel, and the vertical partition being perpendicular to the top panel;
the horizontal partition being positioned in between the first side panel and the second side panel;
the horizontal partition being connected to both the first side panel and the second side panel;
the vertical partition being positioned in between the top panel and the horizontal partition; and
the vertical partition being connected to both the top panel and the horizontal partition.

19. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 17 comprises:

the at least one variable height shelf being positioned within the additional compartment;
the at least one variable height shelf being perpendicular to the back panel;
the at least one variable height shelf being parallel with the top panel; and
the at least one variable height shelf being attached to both the second side panel and the vertical partition.

20. The diaper and wipe dispenser as claimed in claim 17 comprises:

the at least one variable height shelf being positioned within the diaper storage compartment;
the at least one variable height shelf being perpendicular to the back panel;
the at least one variable height shelf being parallel with the top panel; and
the at least one variable height shelf being attached to both the first side panel and the vertical partition.
