TRAVEL BAG PROTECTIVE STRUCTURE

Abstract

A travel bag protective structure includes corner guard members respectively and symmetrically mounted at two opposite lateral sides of each of two hinged cover shells of the travel bag and protruding over the outside walls of the cover shells, and protective bars respectively and transversely mounted at the outside walls of the hinged cover shells and connected between each two corner guard members and protruding over the outside walls of the cover shells.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to travel bags and more particularly, to a travel bag protective structure, which uses protective bars and corner guard members to protect the outside walls of the travel bag against damage when the travel bag falls to the floor accidentally.

2. Description of the Related Art

A conventional travel bag, as shown in FIG. 1, generally comprises a first cover shell 1 and a second cover shell 2 hinged together. This conventional travel bag has no protective means at the opposing front and back sides and the two opposite lateral sides. If the travel bag falls to the floor accidentally with one of the opposing front and back sides facing down, as shown in FIG. 2, or with one lateral side facing down, as shown in FIG. 3, the outer surface of the first cover shell 1 and/or the second cover shell 2 will touch the floor directly, causing damage.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is therefore the main object of the present invention to provide a travel bag protective structure, which protects the outside walls of the travel bag against damage when the travel bag falls to the floor accidentally.

To achieve this and other objects of the present invention, a travel bag protective structure comprises corner guard members respectively and symmetrically mounted at two opposite lateral sides of each of two hinged cover shells of the travel bag and protruding over the outside walls of the cover shells, and protective bars respectively and transversely mounted at the outside walls of the hinged cover shells and connected between each two corner guard members and protruding over the outside walls of the cover shells.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 4 and 5, a travel bag in accordance with the present invention is shown comprising a first cover shell 10 and a second cover shell 11 hinged together, and a protective structure for protecting the travel bag. The protective structure comprises a plurality of transverse locating grooves 12 located on the outside wall of the first cover shell 10 and the outside wall of the second cover shell 11 and extending to two opposite lateral sides of the travel bag, a plurality of corner guard members 21 respectively mounted in two opposite ends of each of the transverse locating grooves 12, and a plurality of protective bars 20 respectively mounted in the transverse locating grooves 12 and connected between the respective corner guard members 21 in the transverse locating grooves 12. After installation in the transverse locating grooves 12, the protective bars 20 and the corner guard members 21 respectively protrude over the surface of the outside wall of the first cover shell 10 and the surface of the outside wall of the second cover shell 11.

The travel bag protective structure has features and advantages as follows:

1. As shown in FIG. 6, if the travel bag falls to the floor with the front side (the second cover shell 11) or back side (the first cover shell 10) facing down, the protective bars 20 at the front side (the second cover shell 11) or back side (the first cover shell 10) will touch the floor, protecting the travel bag against damage.
2. As shown in FIG. 7, if the travel bag falls to the floor with the left or right side facing down, the respective corner guard members 21 will touch the floor, protecting the travel bag against damage.
3. The protective bars 20 and the corner guard members 21 are detachable. When worn out, the user can replace the worn out protective bars 20 and corner guard members 21. Further, the protective bars 20 and the corner guard members 21 can be prepared in any of a variety of colors and/or configured to carry a logo, trademark or any design.
4. The protective bars 20 can be made in different lengths to fit different travel bag sizes.
5. One protective bar 20 and two corner guard members 21 can be made integrally in one piece.

Although a particular embodiment of the invention has been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.

Claims

1. A travel bag protective structure, comprising:

a first cover shell and a second cover shell hinged together; and

a protective structure for protecting said travel bag, said protective structure comprising a plurality of corner guard members respectively mounted at two opposite lateral sides of each of said first cover shell and said second cover shell, and a plurality of protective bars respectively and transversely mounted at said first cover shell and said second cover shell and respectively connected between said corner guard members at the two opposite lateral sides of each of said first cover shell and said second cover shell, said corner guard members and said protective bars protruding over respective outside walls of said first cover shell and said second cover shell.

The travel bag protective structure as claimed in claim 1, wherein said first cover shell and said second cover shell each comprise a plurality of locating grooves transversely located at the respective outside walls thereof and extending to the respective opposite lateral sides thereof for accommodating said corner guard members and said protective bars.

3. The travel bag protective structure as claimed in claim 1, wherein each said protective bar is formed integrally with two said corner guard members in one piece.
