Disclosed is a ring for multiple finger and toe sizes wherein a first oval or circular band is connected to a second oval or circular band in two points in a substantially concentric, non-planar form, such that the angle between the planes of the first and the second oval or circular bands is neither 0 degrees nor 90 degrees.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention generally relates to the field of jewelry and jewelry design. More specifically, the present invention relates to a ring for multiple finger and toe sizes.

BACKGROUND

Jewelry design is the art or profession of creating, crafting, fabricating, or rendering designs for jewelry. This is an ancient practice of the goldsmith or metalworker that evolved to a billion-dollar industry with the odyssey from ancient cultures into the machine age. Jewelry design falls under the category of what is commonly known as “functional art,” being art that can be worn or used.

Before an article of jewelry is created, design concepts are rendered followed by detailed technical drawings generated by a jewelry designer, a professional who is trained in the architectural and functional knowledge of fabrication techniques, composition, wearability and market trends.

Traditional hand-drawing and drafting methods are still utilized in designing jewelry particularly at the conceptual stage, but a shift is taking place to computer-aided design programs like Rhinoceros 3D and Matrix.

Rings can be of almost any material: metal, plastic, wood, bone, glass, gemstone to name a few. They may be set with a stone of some sort, which is often a precious or semi-precious gemstone such as diamond, ruby, sapphire or emerald, but can also be of almost any material.

Various ring designs and styles are known today, still remains a need, in the fields of jewelry and jewelry design, for a ring for multiple finger and toe sizes.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Below are described a number of novel, innovative features of a ring for multiple finger and toe sizes. The present invention is a ring for multiple finger and toe sizes, according to some embodiments of the present invention, a ring for multiple finger and toe sizes may comprise: (1) a First Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band; and (2) a Second Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band that is connected in two points to the First Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band in a substantially concentric, non-planar form; such that the angle between the planes of the first and the second Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands is neither 0 degrees nor 90 degrees. Thus, the first and the second Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands may form two vertex angles larger than 90 degrees and two vertex angles smaller than 90 degrees, between their respective planes.

According to some embodiments of the present invention, the two vertex angles larger than 90 degrees and the two vertex angles smaller than 90 degrees, may accordingly form two finger or toe channels (may collectively be referred to as finger channels) of different sizes, such that the minimal diameter of the finger channel formed between the two vertex angles larger than 90 degrees is greater than the minimal diameter of the finger channel formed between the two vertex angles smaller than 90 degrees.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

In the following detailed description, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the invention. However, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known methods, procedures and components have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the present invention.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, as apparent from the following discussions, it is appreciated that throughout the specification discussions utilizing terms such as “oval”, “elliptic”, “eye-shaped”, “round”, “substantially circular” or the like, may refer to the shape of a finger/toe channel, formed by the intersection/connection of a first and a second substantially plane oval or circular bands.

Embodiments of the present invention may include designs for performing the operations herein. Such designs may be implemented in a ring/jewelry-piece specially designed for the desired purposes, or it may part of a general-purpose ring/jewelry-piece.

The processes and displays presented herein are not inherently related to any particular ring, jewelry-piece or artifact. Various general-purpose components may be used with designs in accordance with the teachings herein, or it may prove convenient to design a more specialized element to achieve the desired outcome. The desired design for a variety of these components/elements will appear from the description below.

The present invention is a ring for multiple finger and toe sizes, according to some embodiments of the present invention, a ring for multiple finger and toe sizes may comprise: (1) a First Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band; and (2) a Second Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band that is connected in two points to the First Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band in a substantially concentric, non-planar form; such that the angle between the planes of the first and the second Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands is neither 0 degrees nor 90 degrees. Thus, the first and the second Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands may form two vertex angles larger than 90 degrees and two vertex angles smaller than 90 degrees, between their respective planes.

According to some embodiments of the present invention, the two vertex angles larger than 90 degrees and the two vertex angles smaller than 90 degrees, may accordingly form two finger or toe channels (may collectively be referred to as finger channels) of different sizes, such that the minimal diameter of the finger channel formed between the two vertex angles larger than 90 degrees is greater than the minimal diameter of the finger channel formed between the two vertex angles smaller than 90 degrees.

According to some embodiments of the present invention, the finger channels formed by the intersection of the two Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands may be non-circular (e.g. substantially oval or elliptic) and thus have different diameter, or maximal cross section, lengths between different spot couples along their circumference. Accordingly, the shape of the finger channels may enable a wearer to place the ring on a finger/toe having a maximal finger/toe cross section length (e.g. at a joint), or maximal diameter, greater than a narrow cross section length, or diameter, of the finger channel.

According to some embodiments of the present invention, the ring may be rotated such that the a wide cross section length, or diameter, of its channel (e.g. the maximal) is substantially aligned with a wide (e.g. the maximal) finger/toe cross section length (e.g. at a joint), or a wide (e.g. the maximal) diameter, of the finger on which the ring is being worn (e.g. the cross section length/diameter perpendicular to the top of a joint). According to some embodiments, once the ring has been moved/slidden past a wide segment/part (e.g. joint) of the finger/toe the ring may be rotated again; for example, when the wider finger channel is used: rotated at substantially 90 degrees in either direction, such that one connection/intersection point of the two Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands is positioned substantially at the top of the upper/outer side of the finger, and one connection/intersection point of two Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands is positioned substantially at the bottom of the lower/inner side of the finger.

According to some embodiments of the present invention, various functional and/or esthetic elements may be added to a ring including the general ring core described in the present application. Furthermore, according to some embodiments, two or more different ring cores may be pivotally or else wise connected to form an extended, and possibly flexible, finger/toe ring.

In FIG. 1A there is shown, in accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, an isometric view of an exemplary ring for multiple finger and toe sizes. The connection/intersection points of the two Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands (10A, 10B), and the two couples of vertex angles (α, α′; β, β′) formed between their respective planes, forms the two finger/toe channels (20A, 20B) such that the finger channel (20A) formed between the two vertex angles greater than 90 degrees (α, α′) is of greater size/diameter/cross-section-length than that of the finger channel (20B) formed between the two vertex angles lesser than 90 degrees (β, β′).

In FIG. 1B there is shown, in accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, a top view of an exemplary ring for multiple finger and toe sizes. The top connection/intersection point of the two Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands (10A, 10B), and the two, differently sized, couples of vertex angles (α, α′; β, β′) are shown. The first larger (of greater size/diameter/cross-section-length) finger/toe channel runs from the a angle area to the α′ angle area, whereas the second smaller (of lesser size/diameter/cross-section-length) finger/toe channel runs from the β angle area to the β′ angle area.

In FIG. 1C there is shown, in accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, a side view of an exemplary ring for multiple finger and toe sizes. This side view shows the shape and proportions of the first larger (of greater size/diameter/cross-section-length) finger/toe channel formed, running from the a angle area to the α′ angle area. In FIG. 1D there is shown, in accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, a side view of an exemplary ring for multiple finger and toe sizes. This side view shows the shape and proportions of the second smaller (of lesser size/diameter/cross-section-length) finger/toe channel formed, running from the β angle area to the β′ angle area. As shown in FIGS. 1C and 1D of this example, the two finger channels formed may be of different channel sizes and may be substantially oval or elliptic in shape.

In FIGS. 2A-2C there are shown, in accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, possible steps taken as part of wearing an exemplary ring for multiple finger and toe sizes on a finger. In FIG. 2A there is shown, in accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, the ring after being rotated such that the wide cross section length, or diameter (X), of its channel (e.g. the maximal) is substantially aligned with a wide (e.g. the maximal) finger/toe cross section length (e.g. at a joint), or a wide (e.g. the maximal) diameter, of the finger on which the ring is being worn (e.g. the cross section length/diameter perpendicular to the top of a joint) (Z). In FIG. 2B there is shown, in accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, the ring after it has been moved/slidden past a wide segment/part (e.g. joint) of the finger/toe. In FIG. 2C there is shown, in accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, the ring after it has been rotated again at substantially 90 degrees, such that one connection/intersection point of the two Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands (I) is positioned substantially at the top of the upper/outer side of the finger, and one connection/intersection point of the two Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands (I′) is positioned substantially at the bottom of the lower/inner side of the finger.

The subject matter described above is provided by way of illustration only and should not be constructed as limiting. While certain features of the invention have been illustrated and described herein, many modifications, substitutions, changes, and equivalents will now occur to those skilled in the art. It is, therefore, to be understood that the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications and changes as fall within the true spirit of the invention.

Claims

1. A ring for multiple finger and toe sizes comprising:

a First Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band; and
a Second Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band that is connected at two points to said First Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band in a substantially concentric, non-planar form, such that the angle between the planes of the first and the second Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands is neither 0 degrees nor 90 degrees.

2. The ring according to claim 1 wherein the first and the second bands are of a substantially similar shape.

3. The ring according to claim 2 wherein the first and the second bands are connected to one another at their points of maximal diameter.

4. A ring for multiple finger and toe sizes comprising:

a first ring core having: a First Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band; and a Second Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band that is connected in two points to said First Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Band in a substantially concentric, non-planar form, such that the angle between the planes of the first and the second Substantially Plane Oval or Circular Bands is neither 0 degrees nor 90 degrees; and
one or more additional ring cores substantially similar to said first ring core, pivotally connected to the first ring core or to one or more of the other additional ring cores.

5. The ring according to claim 1 wherein one or more artifacts are connected to the first band and/or to the second band.
