Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a pullable drain plug, and more particularly to a universal pullable drain plug.

2. Description of the Related Art

Currently, a typical drain plug, as shown in FIG. 16, comprises: a drain body 50 and a plug 60. The drain body 50 has a central space 51. A strain 52 is placed in the central space 51 and has a threaded hole 53. The drain body 50 has a flange 54 at an upper end. The plug 60 has a cap cover 61, the cap cover 61 has an enlarged end 62, a sealing ring 63 below the enlarged end 62, an extendable connecting rod 64 and a threaded section 65 disposed at an end of the extendable connecting rod 64 engaging with the threaded hole 53 of the drain body 50. Since the plug 60 is securely connected onto the drain body 50, pull-up or push-down movements of the enlarged end 62 drives the connecting rod 64, the cap cover 61 and the sealing ring 63 together can seal the central space 51.

However, the above-mentioned structure has following issues: The threaded section 65 can only engages with the threaded hole 53 having identical dimension, if the central space 51 has different dimensions or the threaded hole 53 of the drain body 50 has a different dimension, or even without the threaded hole 53, the connecting rod 64 of the drain of the plug 60 cannot be installed on the drain body 50.

Therefore, it is desirable to provide a pullable drain plug to mitigate and/or obviate the aforementioned problems.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Please refer to FIG. 1 to FIG. 5. A pullable drain plug 10 suitable for sinks or tubs, comprises a cap cover 11, a sealing disk 12, at least one center rod 13, 130, a stopping clamp 14, a securing ring 15 and a gripping end 16. The cap cover 11 is provided with a protruding column 111, the protruding column 111 has a positioning slot 112 corresponding to the sealing disk 12. A central aperture 113 is disposed on the cap cover 11 through the protruding column 111, and the central aperture 113 has a first threaded section 114 at an upper opening and a tapered lower opening with a limiting flange 115. The center rod 13, 130 has a main body 131, and each main body 131 has a different length. The main body 131 has a neck portion 132 connected to an enlarged end 133, and a first threaded portion 135 and a second threaded portion 136 are subsequently disposed at another end, and the first threaded portion 135 and the second threaded portion 136 have different diameters. The stopping clamp 14 is an elastic wire member and has a C shape. The gripping end 16 is provided with a sealing loop 17 and has a second threaded section 161 and a containment space 162 opened at a bottom face.

Please refer FIG. 1, FIG. 3, FIG. 4 and FIG. 5 again. The stopping clamp 14 and the securing ring 15 are subsequently placed in the central aperture 113 of the cap cover 11, the limiting flange 115 supports the stopping clamp 14 and the securing ring 15 such that the stopping clamp 14 and the securing ring 15 are limited on the cap cover 11. Depending the dimension of the drain 20, a center rod 13, 130 with a suitable length is placed through the securing ring 15 to make the main body 131 of the center rod 13, 130 pass through the central aperture 113 and reach out from the cap cover 11, and the neck portion 132 engages with the stopping clamp 14. When the gripping end 16 engages with the cap cover 11 via the first and second threaded sections161, 114, the securing ring 15 and the stopping clamp 14 are limited by the gripping end 16.

With the above-mentioned structure, for various drains 20 with different dimensions, the center rod 13, 130 can be alternated.

If the drain 20 is a typical module, the second threaded portion 136 of the center rod 13 engages with the threaded hole 21 of the drain 20, such that the pullable drain plug 10 is positioned with the drain 20. As shown in FIG. 6, by pulling or pushing the gripping end 16, it controls to open or close the drain 20. As shown in FIG. 7, the first threaded portion 135 and the second threaded portion 136 provide different dimensions for different threaded holes 21of the drain 20, such that the pullable drain plug 10 can be suitable for different drains 20.

Furthermore, when the drains 20 have different depths and the position of the threaded hole 21is moved downwardly, the center rod 130 is attached onto the pullable drain plug 10. With a longer the main body 131 of the center rod 130, the pullable drain plug 10 is able to engage with the drain 20, the first threaded portion 135 and the second threaded portion 136 of the center rod 130 are suitable for different diameter dimensions of the threaded hole 21, as shown in FIG. 8 and FIG. 9.

Please refer to FIG. 10 to FIG. 14, when the drain 20 is not equipped with the threaded hole 21, a securing disk 30 and a plurality of sealing rings 40 are provided with the pullable drain plug 10 for following installation:

The securing disk 30 has a threaded aperture 31, a plurality of drain holes 32 and an engaging slot 33 for engaging with the sealing ring 40. Each sealing ring 40 is a solid circular body having an inner diameter and an outer diameter, a difference between the respective inner and outer diameters of the sealing rings 40 being different from each other. The threaded aperture 31 of the securing disk 30 engages with the first threaded portion 135 or the second threaded portion 136 of the center rod 13, 130, and according to the diameter dimension of the drain 20, a matching sealing ring 40 is chosen for the securing disk 30 such that the pullable drain plug 10 is able to be installed. If the diameter dimension of the drain 20 is smaller, the sealing ring 40 having a smaller width to match the securing disk 30, as shown in FIG. 11 and FIG. 13. Alternatively, if the diameter dimension of the drain 20 is larger, the sealing ring 40 having a larger width to match the securing disk 30, as shown in FIG. 12 and FIG. 14. Therefore, the pullable drain plug 10 is able to be secured in the drain 20, and by pushing or pulling the gripping end 16 to open or close the drain 20.

In order to open the drain 20, the gripping end 16 is pulled up to move the center rod 13, 130 and the cap cover 11 upwardly. By separating the sealing disk 12 and the drain 20 apart, water can be drained. In order to close the drain 20, the gripping end 16 is pushed down to move the center rod 13, 130 into the containment space 162 of the gripping end 16 while the cap cover 11 and the drain 20 coming closer together. Meanwhile, the sealing disk 12 covers the drain 20 to prevent water from being drained , as shown in FIG. 15, and the stopping clamp 14 secures the center rod 13, 130 together.

The above-mentioned pullable drain plug has following benefit: the pullable drain plug 10 is suitable for different drains 20 with different dimensions of the threaded holes 21, depths of the drain 20, different drain diameter or whether with or without the threaded hole 21.

Although the present invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
