Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a makeup case that houses a user's makeup in individual compartments to organize the different cosmetics and tools, and to allow the user to readily locate their desired items.

2. Description of Related Art

Typically, most women keep their full supply of makeup, tools and accessories in at least one bag or case that they keep at home where they usually put on their makeup. Most makeup bags are simply designed with standard rectangle shape and a zipper closure. Many cases are large, bulky boxes with multiple interior shelves to store the cosmetics. Most home bags and cases are usually too large and heavy to be easily transported, thus a second bag or small case is used as a travel case. Often many ladies like to keep a small cosmetics container in their purse or at their office when touchups are necessary and only a few pieces of makeup are required.

A problem typically encountered with a smaller cosmetic bags and cases is keeping them organized with all the products placed inside. The different cosmetics pieces and tools become jumbled and sometimes break or spill causing a mess within the container. Also, many types of cosmetics pods need to be stored flat on their base, because they are meant to be shaken out of the container, so too much movement causes the makeup to spill within the pod. Therefore it would be desirable in the art to provide a makeup case that provides storage to allow a user to easily find and access their cosmetics and tools. It would also be beneficial in the art to provide a makeup case that allows the various cosmetics to rest flat within the different storage areas.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The present invention relates to a makeup case that houses a user's makeup in individual compartments to organize the different cosmetics and tools, and to allow the user to readily locate their desired items. The present invention provides a makeup case that includes individual storage compartments, each compartment divided to house a user's makeup, tool, or accessory. The makeup case folds upon itself for compact storage, and includes a handle to facilitate transport. Within the makeup case are multiple trays that house the individual containers of makeup, and application tools. The trays stack on each other to compactly fit within the makeup case.

Turning now descriptively to the drawings, referring to FIG. 1, a perspective view of a makeup case with individual storage compartments 100 (hereinafter referred to as the makeup case) is shown in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The makeup case 100 includes a housing 102 sectioned into a first portion 104a and a second portion 104b. The housing 102 may be generally square or rectangular in shape to accommodate a plurality of inner storage compartments within the makeup case 100. The dimensions of the housing 102 may be 12 inches long, 8 inches wide and 4 inches deep, but accommodations for larger or smaller dimensions are possible.

The first portion 104a and the second portion 104b meet at a seam 106 when in a closed position, as illustrated. The seam 106 may include a securing means 108 to prevent the first and second portions 104a, 104b from disjoining during transport. The securing means 108 may be a zipper, a latch, or a clasp lock. Finally, attached to a top portion of the housing 102 are a pair of handles 110a, 110b, a handle 110a, 110b for each portion 104a, 104b. The handles 110a, 110b allow the makeup case 100 to be easily transported at the convenience of the user.

Referring now to FIG. 2, a top view of the makeup case 100 is shown in an open position in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. The first portion 104a and the second portion 104b are connected at a base 114 of the housing 102. The base 114 is a piece of material that adjoins the first and second portion 104a, 104b at an opposite side from the handles 110a, 110b. Within each portion 104a, 104b is an inner cavity 112a, 112b. The inner cavities 112a, 112b are enclosed within the outer walls of each portion 104a, 104b and the base 114.

Within a second inner cavity 112b, within the second portion 104b, may be a mirror 116. The mirror 116 may likewise be positioned within the first inner cavity 112a of the first portion 104b. The mirror 116 includes a light 118, where the light is an LED light. The mirror 116 may be detachable fastened within either inner cavity 112a, 112b for use at the user's convenience. The combined mirror 116 and light 118 allow the user to view their faces in any light while they apply the plurality of cosmetics within the makeup case 100. The light 118 may be activated automatically when the user opens the makeup case 100, or alternatively an on/off switch may be provided to illuminate the light 118.

Referring now to FIG. 3, a side view of the makeup case 100 is shown in accordance with an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Within each portion 104a, 104b one or more trays 120 are stacked within the inner cavities 112a, 112b. Preferably, two trays 120 are stacked within each cavity 112a, 112b, but one or even three trays 120 may be stacked. The trays 120 may be pulled apart from each other and rearranged as desired.

Referring to FIG. 4 different tray 120 embodiments are shown. FIG. 4(A) illustrates the tray 120 with a plurality of standard sized wells 122, or first sized wells. The wells 122 are arranged next to each other to encompass the entire tray 120. The wells 122 may be arranged 4 by 4 within the tray, 3 by 3, 5 by 5 or any combination thereof to fill the tray 120. The individual wells 122 are composed from a first horizontal side wall 121 and a second vertical side wall 123. The side walls 121, 123 are removable for washing and to create larger or smaller wells. The standard size wells 122 may house individual cosmetic containers including makeup pots, eye shadow, blush, glitter, mineral makeup, concealer, pencil sharpeners, lip balms, creams, and the like. The wells 122, and side walls 121, 123 keep the individual cosmetics containers in an easy to find order, and prevent the cosmetics from sliding, spilling or shifting during transport and use.

FIG. 4(B) illustrates the tray 120 with the standard size wells 122 and an elongated well 124. The elongated well 124 may be created by removing one or more horizontal walls 121. An elongated vertical wall 125 may be inserted to maintain the structure of the elongated well 124. The elongated well 124 may house cosmetics and utensils like mascaras, eyeliner pencils, brushes, tweezers, lip sticks, lip glosses, and the like which do not fit into the standard size well 122. One or more elongated wells 124 may be positioned within the tray 120.

FIG. 4(C) illustrates the tray 120 with a plurality of standard size wells 122 and a plurality of mini wells 126. The mini wells 126 may be created by inserting one of the horizontal side walls 121 into the standard size well 122, thereby bisecting the standard size well 122 to create the mini well 126. FIG. 4(D) illustrates the tray 120 composed of all mini wells 126. The mini wells 126 may house smaller cosmetics containers, or even jewelry, eyelashes, adhesive crystals and the like. The various sized wells 122, 124, 126 provide the user with customized options of storing within each tray 120 to ensure that their cosmetics and tools remain neat, and clean. The wells 122, 124, 126 prevent the user from having to search and dig in their makeup case 100, maintaining organization and saving time when applying makeup.

The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The exemplary embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.
