Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Fields of the Invention

The present invention relates to a children's placemat, especially to a children's placemat that catches food conveniently and allows the food caught not easy to drop or spill.

2. Descriptions of Related Art

Generally, hand muscles of young kids are not well-developed so that they are weaker in holding and grabbing small objects such as tableware. During the meal, they are easy to knock over their bowl, spill the drink or drop the food from spoons on their hand. This causes a huge mess to clean up.

In order to solve the problem of the messes kids make at the table, a children's placemat 1′ shown in FIG. 1 is provided. A tray 12′ is disposed on a front end of a pad 10′and a projecting edge 100′ is arranged around the pad 10′. The pad 10′ is set on a surface 20 of a dining table 2 and the tray 12′ is against a table edge 22′ of the dining table 2. While in use, tableware such as cups and dishes with food is put on the pad 10′while the tray 12′ is disposed with a receiving space 120′ for catching food dropped by children. As to the projecting edge 100′, it is used to prevent the liquid from spilling out of the tableware. By the children's placemat 1′, the food or drink dropped or spilled by children is caught while children are eating, without causing messes to the environment outside the children's placemat 1′. Moreover, people who take care of the children only need to clean up the children's placemat 1′. There is no need to take much time and effort in cleaning the food dropped. The after-meal cleanup is minimized.

However, there are some shortcomings in structure design of the children's placemat 1′ available now. For example, an end edge 1240′ on front of the tray 12′and close to the children's body is flat and straight. Thus a large gap generated between the tray 12′ and the children's body and food is easy to fall off to the floor. The food dropped is not caught effectively by the children's placemat 1′. Moreover, the projecting edge 100′ is only disposed around the pad 10′, without extended to the tray 12′. Thus liquid spilled from the tableware or food dropped on the pad 10′is easy to fall off from an unconnected portion between the projecting edge 100′ and the tray 12′. Furthermore, a connection angle 125′ between the side surface and the front surface of the tray 12′ is a right angle and the children are easy to get injured in use. The tray 12′ is a horizontal half-cylinder whose rear surface is in contact with the table edge 22 at a smaller area so that the support is not enough and an opening of the receiving space 120′ is easy to incline downward. Thus the food is dropped from the opening of the receiving space 120′ to the floor. At least one suction cup (not shown in figure) is set on a bottom surface of the pad 10′. Thus the contact surface between the pad 10′ and the surface 20 is not flat and cups or bowls on the pad 10′ are easy to knock over.

In order to solve the above problems, a children's placemat of the present invention is provided. The children's placemat features on that a tray of the children's placemat includes a loading plate with a concave curved edge that fits children's body. Thus the children can get closer to the pad to prevent food from dropping through a gap between their body and the tray. Moreover, a projecting edge is disposed around the pad and is integrated with a top edge of each side plate on two sides of the tray for preventing food or drink from dropping or spilling through an unconnected portion between the projecting edge and the tray.

Furthermore, a curved connection angle is arranged at the connection area between each of the side plate and the loading plate to prevent injuries in the children. The tray further includes a rear plate that is in contact with the table edge in a larger area and at least one b spacing plate so as to increase the strength and the support thereof. Thus an opening of a receiving space is facing upward and food is not easy to drop from the opening. In addition, a suction cup used in the present invention is flat so that the pad is covered smoothly over the table surface. Thus the tableware on the placemat is not easy to knock over.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Therefore it is a primary object of the present invention to provide a children's placemat in which a concave curved edge that fits children's body is disposed on a tray and close to children's body. Thus the children can get access to tableware and food on a pad of the placemat without dropping food to the floor through a gap between the children's body and the tray.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a children's placemat in which a projecting edge is disposed around a pad and two ends of the projecting edge are integrated with two side plates of a tray so as to prevent food or drink from dropping or spilling through an unconnected portion between the projecting edge and the two side plates.

In order to achieve the above objects, a children's placemat of the present invention includes a pad and a tray. The tray consists of a rear plate and a loading plate. The rear plate is integratedly connected to a front end of the pad and is extended downward. The loading plate is formed by a bottom edge of the rear plate extended forward and upward. Thus a receiving space is formed between the loading plate and the rear plate. A concave curved edge that fits children's body is set on a front end of the loading plate. Thus the children are getting closer to the tableware on the pad and access to the food more conveniently. The gap between the children and the tray is minimized to prevent the food from dropping down into the floor.

In order to achieve the above objects, a children's placemat of the present invention includes a pad and a tray. The pad includes a top surface and a projecting edge arranged at the edge of the pad. The projecting edge is projecting from the top surface. The tray includes two side plates and a receiving space between the two side plates. Two ends of the projecting edge are integratedly connected to a top edge of each side plate. The projecting edge is used to prevent liquid or food spilled or dropped on the pad from falling or flowing over the unconnected portion between the projection edge and the two side plates of the tray.

Moreover, the pad further includes a bottom surface. At least one suction cup is disposed on the bottom surface thereof so as to fix the children's placemat more stably on the dining table. The suction cup is flat so that the pad and the tableware thereon are not easy to tip over. Moreover, the loading plate is inclined upward so that the opening of the receiving space is facing upward. The receiving space is arranged with at least one spacing plate to enhance the support. The area of the rear plate in contact with the edge of the table is larger for providing better support and allowing the opening of the receiving space facing upward. Thus the food or liquid received will not drop out. Furthermore, a curved connection angle is set at the connection area between each of the side plate and the loading plate to prevent injuries in children.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A children's placemat of the present invention features on a concave curved edge disposed on a front end of a tray and a projecting edge arranged at a pad. The concave curved edge fits the children's body. Thus the children are getting closer to the tableware during the meal and food is not easy to drop due to a gap between the placemat and their body. The projecting edge is integratedly connected to two side plates of the tray so as to prevent food or liquid from dropping or spilling through an unconnected portion of the pad. The children's placemat provides better protection.

Refer to FIG. 2, FIG. 3A and FIG. 3B, a children's placemat 1 of the present invention includes a pad 10 and a tray 12. The pad 10 consists of a top surface 102, a bottom surface 104, a projecting edge 100 disposed on the edge of the pad 10, and at least one suction cup 106 arranged at the bottom surface 104.

The projecting edge 100 is projecting from the top surface 102. The tray 12 is composed of a rear plate 122, a loading plate 124, two side plates 126 and at least one spacing plate 123. The rear plate 122 is integratedly connected to a front edge of the pad 10 and is extended downward. The loading plate 124 is formed by a bottom edge of the rear plate 122 extended forward and upward. Thus a receiving space 120 is formed between the loading plate 124 and the rear plate 122. A concave curved edge 1240 is set on a front end of the loading plate 124. The two side plates 126 are located on two sides of the receiving space 120 respectively and connected to the rear plate 122 as well as the loading plate 124. A curved connection angle 125 is at the connection area between each of the side plate 126 and the loading plate 124. A top edge of each side plate 126 is integratedly connected to the projecting edge 100. As to the spacing plate 123, it is disposed on the receiving space 120 and is connected to both the rear plate 122 and the loading plate 124. The children's placemat 1 is used on a dining table 2 while the dining table 2 includes a table surface 20 and at least one table edge 22. The pad 10 is set over the table surface 20 and the tray 12 is leaning against the table edge 22.

The pad 10 is for setting tableware and food while the projecting edge 100 is used to prevent solid/liquid food or crumbs from falling out through the edge of the pad 10. The solid/liquid food and crumbs are not easy to drop or spill because the projecting edge 100 is integratedly connected to the two side plates of the tray 12 and there is no gap between the projecting edge 100 and the tray 12. As to the suction cup 106, it improves the fixing of the pad 10 on the table surface.

The tray 12 is used to catch food and crumbs dropped or spilled during the meal. The rear plate 122 is leaning against the table edge 22 and providing support to the tray 12. The contact area between the rear plate 122 and the table edge 22 is large so that the tray 12 is supported stably. The loading plate 124 is used to catch solid/liquid food and crumbs dropped during the meal. The food and crumbs caught are received in the receiving space 120. The concave curved edge 1240 fits the kid's body so that the kid is getting closer to the pad 10. Thus the kid can use the tableware set on the pad 10 and eat the meal more conveniently. The concave curved edge 1240 also minimizes the gap between the kid's body and the tray 12 to prevent food and crumbs from falling off through the gap. As to the two side plates 126, they are used to prevent food and crumbs from sliding or spilling into the ground through the two sides of the tray 12. The curved connection angle 125 protects children from scratches or injuries caused by contact with the pad 10. The spacing plate 123 increases support force inside the tray 12 so that the receiving space 120 of the tray 12 with an opening facing upward is supported and maintained at the state. Food or crumbs is not easy to drop or spill from the opening of the receiving space 120 to the floor.

In summary, the children's placemat of the present invention includes a pad and a tray. A concave curved edge is disposed on a front end of the tray and matching body curves of children. Thus the children can get access to tableware and food on the pad more conveniently and the chance of dropping food is also reduced. A projecting edge is arranged around the pad and extended to a top edge of each side plate on two sides of the tray. Thus solid/liquid food and crumbs dropped or spilled on the pad will not fall from the edge of the pad or the connection area between the pad and the tray to the floor. Moreover, at least one flat suction cup is set on the bottom surface of the pad for improving surface flatness of the pad and increasing the contact area between a rear plate of the tray and the dining table. Thus the structure of the tray is more stable. A curved connection angle is disposed between each of two sides of the tray and the loading plate for protecting children from injuries. The placemat of the present invention not only overcomes shortcomings of conventional one but also provides a food receiving tray with better catching effect and more stable structure.

Additional advantages and modifications will readily occur to those skilled in the art. Therefore, the invention in its broader aspects is not limited to the specific details, and representative devices shown and described herein. Accordingly, various modifications may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the general inventive concept as defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
