Description

This application claims priority of U.S. Patent Application No. 61/809,640 filed Apr. 8, 2013, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to clothing. More particularly, the present invention relates to clothing having magnetic materials positioned on the arms, shoulders, chest, back, and legs with tourmaline fabric.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

It is well known in the art for athletes to wear undergarments made of a moisture-wicking material. These garments are typically worn underneath the athlete's normal uniform to provide both warmth and moisture-wicking qualities. These garments are both long sleeved, short sleeved, long pant, and short pant depending on the needs of the athlete. These garments are very commonly worn under hockey uniforms and under hockey equipment to keep the athletes warm in a cold environment and to wick moisture away from the athletes' bodies as the athletes sweat. The garments are also commonly worn for other outdoor activities such as running, football, soccer, tennis, or other sports requiring use of clothing providing some warmth. Although these garments provide warmth and moisture-wicking qualities, they do not provide or result in improved performance of the athlete. Accordingly, there exists a need in the art to provide a garment having improved performance characteristics to the athlete during use.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A garment improving blood flow to a predetermined area of the body, the garment having a magnetic portion, the magnetic portion positioned at the predetermined area of the body wherein the magnetic portion positioned adjacent to the skin of the user. A fabric adapted to form the garment. The magnetic portion mounted to the fabric at the predetermined area of the body. The fabric is comprised of at least 15% tourmaline.

The present invention provides for athletic wear having magnets strategically placed on key points of the human body such as the shoulder, abdomen, body core, waist, lower back, arms and knees. The athletic wear is made of a tourmaline fabric and is in compression on the body. The garments are made of typically separate shirts and pants, or short variations thereof, and made of a moisture-wicking tourmaline fabric to provide electrical benefits, both warmth, moisture wicking, and the benefits of magnetic “therapy” technology to key acupuncture points of the body. The magnets increase metabolism, stamina, and the ability to rapidly increase relief of joint soreness and muscle stiffness.

The garments are made of infrared bioceramic, tourmaline fiber, and magnetized cotton manufactured into polyester, nylon, spandex, etc. The tourmaline fabric is comprised of 75% Tourmaline Fiber, 20% Polyester, 5% Spandex, integrated bio magnetic stones and magnetic fiber into one suit, which is breathable, soft, comfortable, and great for the absorption of sweat. Tourmaline is a Chakra stone, which has a slight but naturally-occurring electrical current running through it.

Research has illustrated the unexpected results of combining tourmaline fabric with the use of magnetic stores and compression of the tourmaline fabric on the skin leading to regulated body temperature and decreased inflammation by directing blood flow to a predetermined area of the body dictated by the positioning of the stones. Magnetic stones alone without the tourmaline fabric does not yield these results. Even further, magnetic stones used in connection with both tourmaline fabric and a garment in compression yields even better results by decreasing inflammation and regulating body temperature.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The tourmaline content must be at least 15% tourmaline but ranges between 15-80% tourmaline in combination with other materials such as cotton, spandex, polyester, nylon . . . etc. Tourmaline is a Chakra stone, which has a slight but naturally-occurring electrical current running through it. This current takes the moisture that is present all around us and charges it with negative ions as well as producing far infrared radiation. All of this occurs naturally without any additional chemicals or processes having to be applied to the mineral. This natural source of energy, far-infrared light and negative ions is believed to have many beneficial effects on the wearer's health. This tourmaline fabric, novel to the present invention, gives the user unexpected results when combined with the magnetic stones of a warming sensation along with decreased inflammation.

To make the tourmaline fabric, the tourmaline store is crushed into a fine powder and baked into the fibers of the fabric.

The garments include biomagnetic stones and magnetic fiber sewn into the garments at key points. The material is comfortable and aids in the absorption of sweat. The garments are highly stretchable providing for increased elasticity and very low shrinkage rates. The garments can be used as underwear and outerwear; however, optimal usage and high efficiency are provided relating to the thermal efficiency when the garment is placed directly on the skin. The magnets and tourmaline effectively raise body temperature (or lower temperature where required), promote blood circulation, increase oxygen in the blood, improve metabolism, relieve joint soreness, and relax muscle stiffness. It also stamina, endurance, and energy levels.

Research has illustrated the unexpected results of combining tourmaline fabric with the use of magnetic stores and compression of the tourmaline fabric on the skin. Research has examined thermography images of inflammation of the patient. These inflamed areas are also the hottest areas of the body. The research shows that where there is inflammation in the body, there is also improper blood circulation and pain. In the “after” pictures the inflammation has greatly dissipated because of the magnetic stones combined with the tourmaline fabric and compression. In addition, when the tourmaline fabric and magnetic stones are used, the blood circulation is restored, inflamed body area temperatures were also reduced and cooled in the same fashion in which we attempt to treat swelling and inflammation by utilizing ice or cold compress packs. The thermographic results clearly demonstrate that within 15 minutes of wearing the garment of the present invention, the patients' blood circulation regulated, inflammation reduced, and the body temperature cooled over-heated areas and warmed under-heated areas. In conclusion, the present invention has been proven to naturally maintain and regulate optimum body temperature and improve blood circulation which increases the body's peak performance.

FIG. 1 illustrates a top 2 and pants 4 of the present invention having a plurality of biomagnets. The top 2 includes long sleeves 6 and a collar portion 8. The pants 4 include leg portions 10. The suit has been specifically designed to decrease the rate of fatigue, micro-circulate blood, increase muscle strength, metabolism, stamina, and to rapidly increase relief of joint soreness and muscle stiffness; bio-magnets are strategically embedded on key acupuncture points of human body, such as shoulder, arms, abdomen, body core, waist, lower back, and knees.

The top 2 includes strategically placed magnets sewn into the shirt made of a tourmaline fabric. The top fits snugly and in compression to the body as illustrated in FIG. 1. Shoulder/collarbone magnets 14 are provided on an upper portion of the top 2 to provide relief to the shoulders and collarbone. In the present embodiment, four magnets are sewn into either side of the shoulders of the top 2. Further, magnets 16 are disposed on the upper arm/shoulder portions of the top 2. The magnets 14, 16 may be provided in any arrangement and may include more than the six magnets shown on the upper portion of the top 2.

The top 2 further includes magnets 18 provided at the elbow portions of the top 2. The magnets 18 increase blood flow to the joints of the elbow to provide relief of pain in the elbow joint.

The top 2 further includes core magnets 20 provided down the center of the top 2. In the present embodiment, four magnets 20 are provided in a line down the center of the torso/core of the top 2. As the core is traditionally assumed to originate the most full-body movement, included in most sports, the core is an important component to include the magnets. The magnets 20 of the core portion are also provided on a back portion along the spine. The core muscles align the spine, ribs, and pelvis of a person to resist a specific force, whether static or dynamic. The magnets 20 promote blood flow to the core to optimize performance of an athlete. The “core” consists of a plurality of different muscles stabilizing the spine and pelvis, which run the entire length of the torso. When these muscles contract, they stabilize the spine, pelvis, and shoulder girdle and create a solid base of support. When this happens, the athlete is able to generate powerful movements of the extremities. The magnets 20 of the top 2 provide increased blood flow and increased performance of the vital core of the human body. The magnets of the core are further shown in FIG. 3 of the drawings.

The pants 4, as shown in FIG. 1, include magnets 24 positioned at the knees of the pants 4. FIG. 1 illustrates two pairs of magnetic stones 24 placed to treat knee pain from osteoarthritis and relief of knee pains in general. The magnetic stones apply a negative charge to the knee, encouraging bone growth and alleviating pain, while simultaneously structurally supporting the knee.

The top 2 further includes a plurality of stones 22 placed on a lower portion of the shirt or top 2. The stones 22 aid the lower abdomen and circulation.

The magnetic stones placed at various points on the top 2 and the pants 4 of the present invention are sewn into the garment. The stones may include an outer fabric cover 30 and a peripheral stitching 32. The stones are sewn into the fabric 26 of the garment. The garment may include a grid like or checkered pattern resulting from stitching 28 consisting of threads made of various materials, such as magnetic fiber threads. The stones used are 1200 Gauss magnetic stones and are permanently placed throughout the garment. In one embodiment, the stones are permanently placed using bonded magnetic fiber threads at key acupuncture points on the body. FIG. 2 illustrates a detailed depiction of the placement of the magnetic stones.

FIG. 2 illustrates the tourmaline fabric and magnetic stones of the present invention. The magnetic stones and tourmaline fabric create increased blood flow to predetermined areas. The combined strength of the magnetic stones, magnetized cotton, and tourmaline creates acupuncture healing points to enhance flexibility, improve happiness, objectivity, serenity, balance, positive transformation, healing, strength, tolerance, and understanding. FIG. 1 illustrates the shoulder/collarbone magnet 14 placement. High grade magnetic stones are positioned at the shoulder/collarbone area to relieve shoulder pain and inflammation. The magnets relax soft tissue and create a warming sensation due to the increased blood flow providing for greater flexibility. FIG. 3 further illustrates the stones 36 provided at an upper back portion or shoulder portion of the top 2.

FIG. 3 further illustrates the upper back/shoulder/lower neck magnet placement. The magnetic stones placed along the lower neck/upper back provide for a massaging effect and warming effect to increase blood flow and relieve pain. FIG. 4 illustrates placement on the pants 4 of the magnets 24 at the knees and magnets 38 at the lower back. In the present embodiment, three magnetic stones 38 are placed at the lower back for treatment of sciatica, lower back pain relief, and herniated disc pain relief where the level of discomfort is in the mild to moderate end of the scale.

The magnets 38 offer excellent support and help to speed the natural healing process for lower back relief, sciatica, arthritis, and herniated disc pain relief associated with lifting, bending, crouching, and impact sports. FIG. 7 further illustrates two pairs of magnetic stones 24 placed at the knee to treat knee pain from osteoarthritis and relief of general knee pains.

The present invention may also be utilized with various medical garments having magnetic stones placed at various key points, similar to the points or the same as the points discussed above. By way of example, a brace is provided in FIGS. 6 and 7. The brace as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 are for a wrist brace but other braces may also be used such as waist supports, lower back braces, back braces, elbow braces, knee braces, ankle braces . . . etc. The technology may also be used in socks or compression sleeves for the body, such as arm of calm compression sleeves.

In an alternative embodiment, a garment worn by medical professionals may also utilize the tourmaline fabric and magnetic stones (see FIG. 5). These medical garments have strategic placing of magnetic stones to increase blood flow at certain key areas. Relief is provided to those in the medical profession who are on their feet and using their bodies all day. As shown in FIG. 5, magnets are placed on the upper arms, core, shoulders, collarbone, and lower neck portion of the top. Various other medical garments may be utilized to provide for magnetic stone placement to relieve aches and pains and to improve and increase blood circulation.

FIGS. 6 and 7 illustrates a plurality of waist supports having magnets and tourmaline heating cloth. These waist supports are provided to be worn underneath clothing directly on the skin to provide the most dramatic results.
