Oblong Orbital Exercising Machine Having Adjustable and Extendable Trace of Movement

An oblong orbital exercising machine includes a main frame, an upright mounted on the main frame, two swinging handles each pivotally connected with the upright, two mounting rods each mounted on the respective swinging handle, two adjusting members each adjustably mounted on the respective mounting rod, a cycle movement mechanism mounted on the main frame, two cranks mounted on the cycle movement mechanism, two links each pivotally connected with the respective adjusting member and the respective crank, two sliding members each slidably mounted on the respective link, two pedals each secured on the respective sliding member, and two driven levers each pivotally connected with the respective mounting rod and the respective sliding member. Thus, the pedals are moved relative to the links to lengthen the forward and backward pace of the user's feet, so that the user's legs are extended.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an exercising machine and, more particularly, to an exercising machine with an oblong orbit or cycle.

2. Description of the Related Art

A conventional oblong orbital exercising machine in accordance with the prior art shown in FIG. 7 comprises a main frame 51, an upright 54 mounted on the front portion of the main frame 51, two swinging handles 55 each having an upper end pivotally connected with the upright 54, a freewheel 52 mounted on the rear portion of the main frame 51, two pivot members 53 eccentrically mounted on two opposite sides of the freewheel 52, two links 56 each having a first end pivotally connected with the lower end of a respective one of the swinging handles 55 and a second end pivotally connected with a respective one of the pivot members 53, and two pedals 57 each mounted on a respective one of the links 56. In operation, when a user operates the exercising machine, his/her hands hold the swinging handles 55 to move the swinging handles 55 and his/her feet tread the pedals 57 to move the links 56. In such a manner, the links 56 are driven by rotation of the freewheel 52 and by pivotal motion of the swinging handles 55 so as to perform an oblong orbit movement so that the user can exercise his hands and legs efficiently. However, each of the links 56 is limited between the respective swinging handle 55 and the respective pivot member 53 so that each of the links 56 has a fixed movement trace that cannot be adjusted according to the user's requirement, thereby limiting the exercising effect of the exercising machine.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary objective of the present invention is to provide an oblong orbital exercising machine with adjustable and extendable trace of movement.

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a oblong orbital exercising machine, comprising a main frame, an upright mounted on a front portion of the main frame, two swinging handles each pivotally connected with the upright, two mounting rods each mounted on a respective one of the swinging handles and each provided with a plurality of adjusting holes, two adjusting members each adjustably mounted on a respective one of the mounting rods, a cycle movement mechanism mounted on a rear portion of the main frame, two cranks mounted on two opposite sides of the cycle movement mechanism, two links each having a first end pivotally connected with a respective one of the adjusting members and a second end pivotally connected with a respective one of the cranks, two sliding members each slidably mounted on a respective one of the links, two pedals each secured on a respective one of the sliding members, and two driven levers each having a first end pivotally connected with a respective one of the mounting rods and a second end pivotally connected with a respective one of the sliding members.

Preferably, the two adjusting pins each mounted on a respective one of the adjusting members and each detachably locked in any one of the adjusting holes of a respective one of the mounting rods.

Preferably, the first end of each of the links is provided with an arcuate curved portion pivotally connected with the respective adjusting member, and the arcuate curved portion of each of the links extends upward.

Preferably, each of the links has two opposite sides each provided with a guide track, and each of the sliding members has two opposite sides each provided with at least one roller rotatably mounted in the respective guide track of the respective link.

Preferably, each of the adjusting members is movable upward and downward on the respective mounting rod to drive and move the respective link, with each of the links being located at different positions and angles to change the movement traces of each of the links.

Preferably, each of the mounting rods has an upper end connected with a lower end of the respective swinging handle and a lower end pivotally connected with the first end of the respective driven lever.

Preferably, each of the mounting rods is pivotally connected with a respective one of the links by a respective one of the adjusting members.

According to the primary advantage of the present invention, the pedals are moved forward and backward relative to the links reciprocally during pivoting of the swinging handles, to lengthen the forward and backward pace of the user's feet, so that the user's legs are fully extended and stretched, thereby enhancing the exercising effect.

According to another advantage of the present invention, the adjusting members are adjustably movable on the mounting rods to drive the links upward and downward in an oblique manner so as to change the positions and angles the links, so that the movement traces of the links can be adjusted freely according the user's requirements, thereby diversifying the exercising modes of the exercising machine.

Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-3, an oblong orbital exercising machine in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a main frame 10, an upright 101 mounted on a front portion of the main frame 10, two swinging handles 18 each pivotally connected with the upright 101, two mounting rods 20 each mounted on a respective one of the swinging handles 18 and each provided with a plurality of adjusting holes 19, two adjusting members 22 each adjustably mounted on a respective one of the mounting rods 20, two adjusting pins 23 each mounted on a respective one of the adjusting members 22 and each detachably locked in any one of the adjusting holes 19 of a respective one of the mounting rods 20, a cycle movement mechanism 11 mounted on a rear portion of the main frame 10, two cranks 12 mounted on two opposite sides of the cycle movement mechanism 11, two links 13 each having a first end pivotally connected with a respective one of the adjusting members 22 and a second end pivotally connected with a respective one of the cranks 12, two sliding members 16 each slidably mounted on a respective one of the links 13, two pedals 14 each secured on a respective one of the sliding members 16, and two driven levers 21 each having a first end pivotally connected with a respective one of the mounting rods 20 and a second end pivotally connected with a respective one of the sliding members 16.

Each of the cranks 12 has a first end connected with the cycle movement mechanism 11 and a second end connected with the respective link 13. The swinging handles 18 are located at two opposite sides of the upright 101. Each of the links 13 has two opposite sides each provided with a guide track 15. Each of the links 13 is moved by swinging action of the respective swinging handle 18 and by rotation of the cycle movement mechanism 11. The first end of each of the links 13 is provided with an arcuate curved portion 131 pivotally connected with the respective adjusting member 22. The arcuate curved portion 131 of each of the links 13 extends upward. Each of the sliding members 16 has two opposite sides each provided with at least one roller 17 rotatably mounted in the respective guide track 15 of the respective link 13. Each of the adjusting members 22 is movable upward and downward on the respective mounting rod 20 to drive and move the respective link 13 so that each of the links 13 is located at different positions and angles to change the movement traces of each of the links 13. Each of the mounting rods 20 has an upper end connected with a lower end of the respective swinging handle 18 and a lower end pivotally connected with the first end of the respective driven lever 21. Each of the mounting rods 20 is pivotally connected with a respective one of the links 13 by a respective one of the adjusting members 22. In operation, referring to FIGS. 3 and 4 with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, when a user wishes to operate the exercising machine, he/she can stand on the exercising machine, with his/her hands holding and pivoting the swinging handles 18, and with his/her feet treading the pedals 14 to move the links 13. In such a manner, the links 13 are driven by rotation of the cycle movement mechanism 11 and by pivoting motion of the swinging handles 18 so as to perform an oblong orbit movement so that the user's hands and legs are moved forward and backward in a reciprocal manner so as to exercise his hands and legs. When the swinging handles 18 are pivoted relative to the upright 101, the driven levers 21 are driven by the mounting rods 20 to drive the sliding members 16 which drive the pedals 14, so that the pedals 14 and the sliding members 16 are moved forward and backward along the guide tracks 15 of the links 13 as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, to lengthen displacement of the pedals 14 and to increase the sliding distance of the user's feet, thereby enhancing the exercising effect.

In adjustment, referring to FIGS. 5 and 6 with reference to FIGS. 1-4, each of the adjusting pins 23 is adjustably locked in any one of the adjusting holes 19 of the respective mounting rod 20, so that each of the adjusting members 22 is movable upward and downward on the respective mounting rod 20 to drive the respective link 13 upward and downward to locate the respective link 13 at different positions and angles so as to change the movement traces of each of the links 13. In such a manner, each of the adjusting members 22 is adjustable on the respective mounting rod 20 to drive the respective link 13 upward and downward so that the positions and angles of each of the links 13 can be adjusted freely so as to provide different movement traces according the user's requirements, thereby diversifying the exercising effect of the exercising machine.

Accordingly, the pedals 14 are moved forward and backward relative to the links 13 reciprocally during pivoting of the swinging handles 18, to lengthen the forward and backward pace of the user's feet, so that the user's legs are fully extended and stretched, thereby enhancing the exercising effect. In addition, the adjusting members 22 are adjustably movable on the mounting rods 20 to drive the links 13 upward and downward in an oblique manner so as to change the positions and angles the links 13, so that the movement traces of the links 13 can be adjusted freely according the user's requirements, thereby diversifying the exercising modes of the exercising machine.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.

Claims

1. An oblong orbital exercising machine, comprising:

a main frame;
an upright mounted on a front portion of the main frame;
two swinging handles each pivotally connected with the upright;
two mounting rods each mounted on a respective one of the swinging handles and each provided with a plurality of adjusting holes;
two adjusting members each adjustably mounted on a respective one of the mounting rods;
a cycle movement mechanism mounted on a rear portion of the main frame;
two cranks mounted on two opposite sides of the cycle movement mechanism;
two links each having a first end pivotally connected with a respective one of the adjusting members and a second end pivotally connected with a respective one of the cranks;
two sliding members each slidably mounted on a respective one of the links;
two pedals each secured on a respective one of the sliding members; and
two driven levers each having a first end pivotally connected with a respective one of the mounting rods and a second end pivotally connected with a respective one of the sliding members.

2. The oblong orbital exercising machine of claim 1, wherein the two adjusting pins each mounted on a respective one of the adjusting members and each detachably locked in any one of the adjusting holes of a respective one of the mounting rods.

3. The oblong orbital exercising machine of claim 1, wherein:

the first end of each of the links is provided with an arcuate curved portion pivotally connected with the respective adjusting member; and
the arcuate curved portion of each of the links extends upward.

4. The oblong orbital exercising machine of claim 1, wherein:

each of the links has two opposite sides each provided with a guide track; and
each of the sliding members has two opposite sides each provided with at least one roller rotatably mounted in the respective guide track of the respective link.

The oblong orbital exercising machine of claim 1, wherein each of the adjusting members is movable upward and downward on the respective mounting rod to drive and move the respective link, with each of the links being located at different positions and angles to change the movement traces of each of the links.

6. The oblong orbital exercising machine of claim 1, wherein each of the mounting rods has an upper end connected with a lower end of the respective swinging handle and a lower end pivotally connected with the first end of the respective driven lever.

7. The oblong orbital exercising machine of claim 1, wherein each of the mounting rods is pivotally connected with a respective one of the links by a respective one of the adjusting members.

8. The oblong orbital exercising machine of claim 1, wherein:

each of the cranks has a first end connected with the cycle movement mechanism and a second end connected with the respective link;
the swinging handles are located at two opposite sides of the upright; and
each of the links is moved by swinging action of the respective swinging handle and by rotation of the cycle movement mechanism.
