PROFESSIONAL TRAVEL MAKEUP CASE

Abstract

A professional travel makeup case is disclosed. The case can include: a shell; an organizing compartment; means for cushioning the organizing compartment disposed between the organizing compartment and the shell; means for opening and closing the case; a plurality of drawers, at least one of the plurality of drawers being removable; a plurality of pockets, at least one of the plurality of pockets being removable; and a protective layer being attachable over the front face of one of at least one of the plurality of drawers and at least one of the plurality of pockets.

Description

FIELD OF DISCLOSURE

This disclosure relates generally to a professional travel makeup case and to a professional travel makeup case relating to travel.

BACKGROUND

Many industries continue to become more specialized and require more travel. Makeup artists may travel to a client for a variety of reasons—a destination wedding, a photo shoot, fashion week. Each of these events require tools that are costly and easily damaged. A single client can require items such as hair extensions, hair dryers, diffusers, straightening irons, curling irons, brushes, combs, an airbrush makeup kit, makeup brushes, blushes, concealers, primers, bronzers, lip colors, eyeliners, mascaras, eye shadows, waxes, and tweezers. With the costs and specific nature of the items involved, it is unsurprising that an artist embarking on a flight would rather bring her tools in a carry-on than her clothes.

The speed with which the artist can function can also make a great deal of difference. Thus, packing all items into a typical travel suitcase does not afford the organization needed for a professional to achieve her best work. Unpacking all the tools and arranging them in a foreign location, such as a bridal suite, can cause inefficiencies with no muscle memory trained to provide the artist as to where each item is.

Current makeup cases run to two types. The first type is similar to tackle boxes for fisherman. These cases may not afford room for stylists to include hair and makeup tools and supplies. The second, often called train cases, are similar to road cases for large sound equipment. These cases can be heavy, difficult to move in close quarters, and may not fit requirements for carry-on luggage.

For a more complete understanding of the present disclosure, reference is now made to the following detailed description and the accompanying drawings. In an exemplary embodiment, a professional travel makeup case is provided.

A professional travel makeup case, the case comprising: a shell; an organizing compartment; means for cushioning the organizing compartment disposed between the organizing compartment and the shell; means for opening and closing the case; a plurality of drawers, at least one of the plurality of drawers being removable; a plurality of pockets, at least one of the plurality of pockets being removable; and a protective layer being attachable over the front face of one of at least one of the plurality of drawers and at least one of the plurality of pockets.

In some embodiments, the professional travel makeup case can include at least one compartment for hair styling supplies. In some embodiments, a portion of the case can provide an enclosure for a makeup airbrush kit.

In some embodiments, the professional travel makeup case can include a plurality of dividers disposed in the organizing compartment, the dividers defining a plurality of compartments. In some embodiments, the shell can be a hard-shell casing. In some embodiments, the shell can be comprised of at least one of the following materials: fabric, nylon, plastic, leather, or metal. In some embodiments, the means for cushioning disposed between the organizing compartment and the shell can include insulating properties for keeping the temperature of the organizing compartment regulated. In some embodiments, the professional travel makeup case can include a compartment for a quart-sized plastic bag for liquids. In some embodiments, the protective layer can attach using at least one of the following means: a zipper, snap, Velcro®, clasp, and latch. In some embodiments, at least one of the plurality of drawers is magnetized for organizing metal implements. In some embodiments, the professional travel makeup case can include a makeup brush belt attachable to the interior of the case. In some embodiments, the case can have dimensions such that a combined length, width, and height of the case is no more than approximately 62″. In some embodiments, the case can have dimensions such that a combined length, width, and height of the case is no more than approximately 45″. The professional travel makeup case can be sized to fit requirements for various forms of travel, such as carry-on size for air travel, locomotive travel, automotive travel, etc.

In some embodiments, the means for cushioning disposed between the organizing compartment and the shell can provide impact protection. In some embodiments, at least one of the plurality of drawers can be parallel to the floor when the professional travel makeup case is in an upright position. In some embodiments, at least one of the plurality of drawers can be perpendicular to the floor when the professional travel makeup case is in an upright position.

In some embodiments, the at least one of the plurality of drawers can include at least two smaller compartments. In some embodiments, at least one of the following can be adjustable: the organizing compartment, at least one of the plurality of drawers, and at least one of the at least two smaller compartments.

In some embodiments, the professional travel makeup case can include at least one easy-access pocket. In some embodiments, the professional travel makeup case can include a kickstand to support the professional travel makeup case in an upright position

In the above-described embodiments, advantages can include ease of movement and portability, protective compartments suited for specialized tools, and storage sub-compartments that can be changed as desired.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

An exemplary embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIG. 1. In this embodiment, a professional travel makeup case 100 is provided. A shell 102 can serve as the outer part of the case 100. The shell 102 can be made of a various materials such as a hard plastic, so as to provide a hard-shell case, fabric, nylon, plastic, leather, or metal. The shell 102 can be waterproof. The shell 102 can include an insulating material to protect the contents from temperature changes. The case can also include an organizing compartment 104 with various sub-compartments. The shell 102 and the organizing compartment can be separated by cushioning means 106.

The case 100 can also include an opening and closing means 108 (e.g., a zipper, snaps, Velcro®, clasps, latch, etc.). Inside the case 100, the various sub-compartments can include a plurality of drawers 110 may be included with a plurality of pockets 112. As shown in FIG. 1, the plurality of pockets 112 can be fastened in a manner so that they can be removed. The plurality of drawers 110 can also be removed. This removal can allow for fungibility of products. For example, an artist may bring tools specific to the job at hand without having to reorganize all her tools for the next job. In some embodiments, at least one of the plurality of drawers 110 can be parallel to the floor when the case 100 is in an upright position, as shown in FIG. 1. In some embodiments, at least one of the plurality of drawers 110 can be perpendicular to the floor when the case 100 is in an upright position.

A protective layer 114 can be used as a guard between two sides of the case 100, should the case 100 be of a clamshell design, as shown in FIG. 1. In some embodiments, the protective layer 114 can include similar material to the cushioning means 106. In some embodiments, the protective layer 114 can have at least one side that can act as a work surface when placed horizontally. The protective layer 114 can be attached to the organizing compartment 104. Attachments 116 for the protective layer 114 can include a zipper, snap, Velcro®, clasp, latch, etc.

An easy-access pocket 114A can be included in the case 100. For example, FIG. 1 shows a cutout in the protective layer 114 for the easy-access pocket 114A. In some embodiments, the easy-access pocket 114A can be used for a centralized location for liquids. For example, a travel-sized bag can that can fit in the easy-access pocket 114A can allow ease of the inspection process in airports with minimal disruption to the rest of the tools. In some embodiments, the easy-access pocket 114A can act as a facial wipes dispenser. In some embodiments, the easy-access pocket 114A can act as a sleeve for a computer device, such as a laptop or a tablet. In some embodiments, there may be more than one easy-access pocket 114A. In some embodiments, the easy-access pocket can be opened and closed with a fastener such as a zipper, snap, Velcro®, clasp, latch, etc.

A makeup brush case 118 can be included with pockets. In some embodiments, the makeup brush case 118 can be removable. For example, the makeup brush case 118 can be unfastened from the case 100 to be used as a makeup brush belt.

A foam protective area 120 can be included to protect specific tools and appliances. In some, embodiments, protected area fasteners 120A can be used to hold the foam protective area 120 in place. The portion of the organizing compartment 104 that the foam protective area 120 covers can have specific cut outs for appliances. For example, FIG. 1 shows a cutout for a hairdryer 122, a cutout for a curling iron 124, and a cutout for a straightening iron 126.

The organizing compartment 104 can also include at least one magnetic drawer 130. The magnetic drawer 130 can hold items such as bobby pins, safety pins, hair clips, and other small metallic objects. The magnetic drawer 130 can also hold tools such as tweezers and scissors.

The case 100 can also include at least one handle 140. In FIG. 1, the handle 140 is shown as a handle for carrying the case 100 in a similar manner to a briefcase. In some embodiments, the handle 140 can be retractable, allowing the artist to pull or push the case. In some embodiments, a shoulder strap handle 140 can be included.

FIG. 2 shows another schematic view of an exemplary professional travel makeup case 200. The case 200 can include a shell 202, an organizing compartment 204, a cushioning means 206, and a plurality of drawers 210. In some embodiments, the cushioning means 206 can provide impact protection. As shown, one drawer 250 in the plurality of drawers can include a divider to separate the drawer 250 into a number of smaller compartments. These smaller compartments can allow the artist to organize tools and minimize shifting of delicate materials, such as eye powders, during travel. In some embodiments, at least one of the following can be adjustable: the organizing compartment 204, the plurality of drawers 210, and smaller compartments. For example, the organizing compartment 204 can be reduced to allow for at least one more drawer. At least two of the plurality of drawers 210 can be removed to insert a larger drawer.

FIG. 3 shows another schematic view of an exemplary professional travel makeup case 300. The case 300 can include a shell 302, an organizing compartment 304, a cushioning means 306, a makeup brush case 318, and a foam protective area 320. The organizing compartment 304 can also include at least one sleeve 360. The sleeve 360, as shown in FIG. 3, can hold hair extensions 362. For example, the sleeve 360 can keep the hair from being damaged from movement or moisture. The foam protective area 320 can cover at least one pocket 370.

FIGS. 4A-E are schematic views of exemplary means of cushioning.

FIG. 4A shows a professional travel makeup case 400 with a shell 402 and an organizing compartment 404 with a drawer 410. A cushioning means 406 is shown in FIG. 4A as being a packing material as a layer between the shell 402 and the organizing compartment 404.

FIG. 4B shows another professional travel makeup case 420 with a shell 422 and an organizing compartment 424 with a drawer 430. A cushioning means 426 is shown in FIG. 4B as being a thermal insulation as a layer between the shell 422 and the organizing compartment 424.

FIG. 4C shows yet another professional travel makeup case 440 with a shell 442 and an organizing compartment 444 with a drawer 450. A cushioning means 446 is shown in FIG. 4C as being a fabric material as a layer between the shell 442 and the organizing compartment 444.

FIG. 4D shows still another professional travel makeup case 460 with a shell 462 and an organizing compartment 464 with a drawer 470. A cushioning means 466 is shown in FIG. 4D as being a foam material as a layer between the shell 462 and the organizing compartment 464.

FIG. 4E shows another professional travel makeup case 480 with a shell 482 and an organizing compartment 484 with a drawer 490. A cushioning means 486 is shown in FIG. 4E as being a plastic material able to be inflated and deflated as needed as a layer between the shell 482 and the organizing compartment 484.

FIG. 5 shows a schematic view of an exemplary exterior pocket 506 on a professional travel makeup case 500. The case 500 can have a shell 502 and wheels 514. As shown in FIG. 5, the case 500 can have a pocket 506 built into the shell 502. In some embodiments, the pocket 506 can have a sleeve 510 and a flap 512 in various combinations. For example, the sleeve 510 can have elastic to hold a tablet along with a flap 512 with a snap to attach to the sleeve 510.

The case 500 can also have a closing means 508. The closing means 508 can be a zipper, snap, Velcro®, clasp, latch, etc. As shown in FIG. 5, the closing means can be a zipper that allows for the case 500 to expand when unzipped.

FIG. 6 shows a schematic view of an exemplary professional travel makeup case 600 with a shell 602 and convertible protective layer 614. In some embodiments, the convertible protective layer 614 is attached to the top of the case and can lie as a barrier between the two sides of the case 600 and can also be used as a prep surface for the artist. For example, the convertible protective layer 614 can be used as a flat surface for products. In some embodiments, the case 600 can be open to a 90 degree angle and propped up with an extrusion 605 from the other side of the case 600. In some embodiments, the case 600 can be supported in an upright position by a kickstand (not shown).

FIGS. 7A-C show schematic views of exemplary configurations of an organizing compartment in a professional travel makeup case.

FIG. 7A shows an exemplary configuration of an organizing compartment 700 with removable sub-compartments. As shown in FIG. 7A, the sub-compartments can include drawers 710, a makeup brush case 718, a foam protective area 720 to cover a foam sub-compartment, and a magnetic drawer 728. In some embodiments, the foam sub-compartment covered by the foam protective area 720 can protect items such as an air brush, curling irons, straightening irons, hair dryers, and other appliances.

FIG. 7B shows another exemplary configuration of an organizing compartment 730 with removable sub-compartments. As shown in FIG. 7B, the sub-compartments can include drawers 740, a makeup brush case 748, a foam protective area 750 to cover a foam sub-compartment, sleeves 742 items like hair extensions, a magnetic drawer 758, and a facial wipe dispenser 744A.

FIG. 7C shows yet another exemplary configuration of an organizing compartment 760 with removable sub-compartments. As shown in FIG. 7C, the sub-compartments can include drawers 772, a makeup brush case 778, a foam protective area 780 to cover a foam sub-compartment, at least one pocket 770, a trash bin 790, and a magnetic drawer 788.

FIG. 8 is a schematic view of an exemplary organizing compartment 804 of a professional travel makeup case 800. As shown in FIG. 8, the case 800 can have a shell 802, a cushioning means 806, and wheels 814 for transporting the case 800. The organizing compartment 804 can include a sub-compartment 810 with a material for cushioning electric and mechanical items. For example, as shown in FIG. 8, the sub-compartment 810 can include convoluted foam that surrounds electrical items like a hair dryer 822. The sub-compartment 810 can also include a power outlet 812, such as an extension cord. In some embodiments, the power outlet 812 can be built into the case and have a retractable cord to allow ease of use with multiple electric appliances.

FIG. 9 is a schematic view of an exemplary heating/cooling sub-compartment 910 of a professional travel makeup case 900. The case 900 has a shell 902, an organizing compartment 904, and a cushioning means 906 between the shell 902 and the organizing compartment 904. The heating/cooling sub-compartment 910 can include an insulation material 906A to provide a specific portion of the case 900 to control temperatures for more delicate or sensitive tools. In some embodiments, there can be a battery pack included in the suitcase to provide electricity to the heating/cooling sub-compartment 910. In some embodiments, the heating/cooling sub-compartment 910 can include a pocket for an ice pack. In some embodiments, the heating/cooling sub-compartment 910 can have a temperature dial to set the temperature in the heating/cooling sub-compartment 910.

While exemplary embodiments incorporating the principles of the present invention have been disclosed hereinabove, the present invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiments. Instead, this application is intended to cover any variations, uses, or adaptations of the invention using its general principles. Further, this application is intended to cover such departures from the present disclosure as come within known or customary practice in the art to which this invention pertains and which fall within the limits of the appended claims.

Claims

1. A professional travel makeup case, the case comprising:

a shell;

an organizing compartment;

means for cushioning the organizing compartment disposed between the organizing compartment and the shell;

means for opening and closing the case;

a plurality of drawers, at least one of the plurality of drawers being removable;

a plurality of pockets, at least one of the plurality of pockets being removable; and

a protective layer being attachable over the front face of one of at least one of the plurality of drawers and at least one of the plurality of pockets.

2. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, further comprising at least one compartment for hair styling supplies.

3. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein a portion of the case provides an enclosure for a makeup airbrush kit.

4. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, further comprising a plurality of dividers disposed in the organizing compartment, the dividers defining a plurality of compartments.

5. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein the shell is a hard-shell casing.

6. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein the shell is comprised of at least one of the following materials: fabric, nylon, plastic, leather, or metal.

7. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein the means for cushioning disposed between the organizing compartment and the shell comprises insulating properties for keeping the temperature of the organizing compartment regulated.

8. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, further comprising a compartment for a quart-sized plastic bag for liquids.

9. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein the protective layer is attachable using at least one of the following means: a zipper, snap, Velcro®, clasp, and latch.

10. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of drawers is magnetized for organizing metal implements.

11. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, further comprising a makeup brush belt attachable to the interior of the case.

12. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein the case has dimensions such that a combined length, width, and height of the case is no more than approximately 62″.

13. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 12, wherein the case has dimensions such that a combined length, width, and height of the case is no more than approximately 45″.

14. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein the means for cushioning disposed between the organizing compartment and the shell provides impact protection.

15. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of drawers is parallel to the floor when the professional travel makeup case is in an upright position.

16. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of drawers is perpendicular to the floor when the professional travel makeup case is in an upright position.

17. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of drawers comprises at least two smaller compartments.

18. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 17, wherein at least one of the following is adjustable: the organizing compartment, at least one of the plurality of drawers, and at least one of the at least two smaller compartments.

19. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, wherein the at least one pocket comprises at least one easy-access pocket.

20. The professional travel makeup case as set forth in claim 1, further comprising a kickstand to support the professional travel makeup case in an upright position.
