SHOWER AND BATHTUB SEAT

A shower and bathtub seat is disclosed. The shower and bathtub seat may include a hair bowl that has a second planar portion provided with a centered indentation to accommodate a user's neck on a top edge of the second planar portion. The shower and bathtub seat may also include a pair of securing harnesses that include a hook disposed on an end of each of the pair of securing harnesses that are coupled to a corresponding loop disposed on a second front side of the planar base.

Description

This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application 61/820,572 filed on May 7, 2013, the entire disclosure of which is incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field Of The Invention

The present invention is a seat. More specifically, the present invention is a shower and bathtub seat.

2. Description of the Related Art

Elderly and handicapped persons often have difficulty showering and bathing in a comfortable and intimate setting. It is also often not practical to provide the extensive care that elderly and handicap people sometimes require that perform basic daily duties such as showering and bathing.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is a chair. More specifically, the present invention is a shower and bathtub seat.

The shower and bathtub seat includes a planar base having a middle opening, the middle opening having an inner track groove, the planar base may include a bottom planar portion extending from a bottom of the planar base, wherein the inner track groove accommodates a pair of metal tabs disposed on a first side and a second side of the first planar portion and a removable folding chair disposed in the middle opening of the planar base, the removable folding chair is removed as needed from the middle opening of the planar base, the removable folding chair has a first planar portion, a second planar portion and a hinge, wherein the hinge is disposed between the first planar portion and the second planar portion to allow the first planar portion and the second planar portion to bend outward or to bend inward and the removable folding chair is converted into a hair bowl by spinning the removable folding chair forward and upward towards the planar base. The shower and bathtub seat also includes a pair of securing harnesses extended and coupled on a first front side of the planar base, the pair of securing harnesses includes a hook disposed on an end of each of the pair of securing harnesses that are coupled to a corresponding loop disposed on a second front side of the planar base and a pair of securing harnesses extended across the removable folding chair disposed in the middle opening of the planar base, the pair of securing harnesses secure the removable folding chair within the middle opening of the planar base, the pair of securing harnesses are coupled on a first front side of the planar base.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a shower and bathtub seat that assists handicapped and elderly individuals with showering and bathing on a daily basis.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a shower and bathtub seat that may be easily modified to fit the space of the shower and or tub that is being modified.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a shower and bathtub seat that may be easily stored to allow a user to shower and bath in a normal fashion without standing.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS

Various aspects of the illustrative embodiments will be described using terms commonly employed by those skilled in the art to convey the substance of their work to others skilled in the art. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced with only some of the described aspects. For purposes of explanation, specific numbers, materials and configurations are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the illustrative embodiments. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details. In other instances, well-known features are omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the illustrative embodiments.

Various operations will be described as multiple discrete operations, in turn, in a manner that is most helpful in understanding the present invention however the order of description should not be construed as to imply that these operations are necessarily order dependent. In particular, these operations need not be performed in the order of presentation.

The phrase “in one embodiment” is used repeatedly. The phrase generally does not refer to the same embodiment, however, it may. The terms “comprising”, “having” and “including” are synonymous, unless the context dictates otherwise.

FIG. 1 illustrates a front perspective view of a shower and bathtub seat 100, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.

The shower and bathtub seat 100 may include a planar base 110, a removable folding chair 120 and a pair of securing harnesses 130. The planar base 110 may include a middle opening 112 that may have an inner track groove 114. The planar base 110 may include a bottom planar portion 116 extending from a bottom 110A of the planar base 110. The planar base 110 may be made of hard plastic or other suitable material. The removable folding chair 120 may be disposed in the middle opening 112 of the planar base 110 and be removed as needed from the middle opening 112 of the planar base 110. The removable folding chair 120 may be made of hard plastic or other suitable material. The pair of securing harnesses 130 may extend across the removable folding chair 120 disposed in the middle opening 112 of the planar base 110 to secure the removable folding chair 120 within the middle opening 112 of the planar base 110. The pair of securing harnesses 130 may be coupled on a first front side 110B of the planar base 110. The pair of securing harnesses 130 may include a hook 134 disposed on an end 132A of each of the pair of securing harnesses 130 that is coupled to a corresponding loop 136 disposed on a second front side 110C of the planar base 110.

FIG. 2 illustrates a front perspective view of a shower and bathtub seat 200 being folded outward, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.

The shower and bathtub seat 200 may include a first planar portion 210, a second planar portion 220 and a hinge 230. The first planar portion 210 may be made of hard plastic or other suitable material. The second planar portion 220 may be made of hard plastic or other suitable material. The hinge 230 may be disposed between the first planar portion 210 and the second planar portion 220 to allow the first planar portion 210 and the second planar portion 220 to bend outward or to bend inward.

FIG. 3 illustrates an overhead perspective view of a shower and bathtub seat 300, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.

The shower and bathtub seat 300 may include a first planar portion 310, a second planar portion 320, a hinge 330 and a pair of securing harnesses 340. The first planar portion 310 may include a pair of metal tabs 312 disposed on a first side 310A and a second side 310B of the first planar portion 310. The second planar portion 320 may be provided without the pair of metal tabs 312 disposed on a first side 310A and a second side 310B of the first planar portion 310. The planar base 330 may include a middle opening 332 that may have an inner track groove 334. The inner track groove 334 may accommodate a pair of metal tabs 312 disposed on a first side 310A and a second side 310B of the first planar portion 310. The pair of securing harnesses 340 may extend and be coupled on a first front side 110B of the planar base 110. The pair of securing harnesses 340 may include a hook 342 disposed on an end 342A of each of the pair of securing harnesses 340 that may be coupled to a corresponding loop 344 disposed on a second front side 110C of the planar base 110.

FIG. 4 illustrates a side perspective view of a shower and bathtub seat 400 being folded inward, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.

The shower and bathtub seat 400 may include a first planar portion 410, a second planar portion 420 and a planar base 430. The first planar portion 410 may include a pair of metal tabs 412 disposed on a first side 410A and a second side 410B of the first planar portion 410. The second planar portion 420 may be provided without the pair of metal tabs 412 disposed on a first side 410A and a second side 410B of the first planar portion 410. The planar base 430 may include a middle opening 432 that may have an inner track groove 434. The inner track groove 434 may accommodate the pair of metal tabs 412 disposed on a first side 410A and a second side 410B of the first planar portion 410. The pair of metal tabs 412 may be maneuvered out of the inner track groove 434 by tilting the first planar portion 410 sideways.

FIG. 5 illustrates a side perspective view of a hair bowl 500, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.

The hair bowl 500 may include all of the elements of the removable folding chair (FIG. 1, 120). The removable folding chair (FIG. 1, 120) may be converted into the hair bowl 500 by spinning the removable folding chair (FIG. 1, 120) forward and upward towards the planar base (FIG. 1, 110).

The hair bowl 500 may include a first planar portion 510, a second planar portion 520, a hinge 530 and a pair of securing harnesses 540. The first planar portion 510 may include a pair of metal tabs 512 disposed on a first side 510A and a second side 510B of the first planar portion 510. The second planar portion 520 may be provided with a centered indentation 522 to accommodate a user's neck on a top edge 520A of the second planar portion 520 and a raised edging 520B to prevent a user from getting wet while washing a user's hair while the user's neck is in the hair bowl 500. The planar base 530 may include a middle opening 532 that may have an inner track groove 534.

The inner track groove 534 may accommodate pair of metal tabs 512 disposed on a first side 510A and a second side 510B of the first planar portion 510. The pair of securing harnesses 540 may extend from may be coupled on a first front side 110B of the planar base 110. The pair of securing harnesses 540 may include a hook 542 disposed on an end 542A of each of the pair of securing harnesses 540 may be coupled to a corresponding loop 544 disposed on a second front side 110C of the planar base 110. The hair bowl 500 may also be made of durable hard plastic or other suitable material.

FIG. 6 illustrates an overhead perspective view of a removable folding chair 600, in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention.

The removable folding chair 600 may include a first aperture 610, a second aperture 620 and a diagonal support 630. The first aperture 610 may be centered and disposed on the first planar portion 510 of the shower and bathtub seat 600. The second aperture 620 may be centered and disposed on the second planar portion 520 of the shower and bathtub seat 600. The diagonal support 630 may provide support to the first aperture 610 and the second aperture 620 while the shower and bathtub seat 600 may be secured by the pair of securing harnesses 540. The first aperture 610 and the second aperture 620 may be adjacent to form a third overall aperture 615 that allows a user to wash themselves through the third overall aperture 615 from underneath the shower and bathtub seat 600.

While the present invention has been related in terms of the foregoing embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described. The present invention can be practiced with modification and alteration within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Thus, the description is to be regarded as illustrative instead of restrictive on the present invention.

Claims

1. A shower and bathtub seat, comprising:

a planar base having a middle opening, the middle opening having an inner track groove, the planar base may include a bottom planar portion extending from a bottom of the planar base, wherein the inner track groove accommodates a pair of metal tabs disposed on a first side and a second side of the first planar portion;
a removable folding chair disposed in the middle opening of the planar base, the removable folding chair is removed as needed from the middle opening of the planar base, the removable folding chair has a first planar portion, a second planar portion and a hinge, wherein the hinge is disposed between the first planar portion and the second planar portion to allow the first planar portion and the second planar portion to bend outward or to bend inward;
a pair of securing harnesses extended and coupled on a first front side of the planar base, the pair of securing harnesses includes a hook disposed on an end of each of the pair of securing harnesses that are coupled to a corresponding loop disposed on a second front side of the planar base; and
a pair of securing harnesses extended across the removable folding chair disposed in the middle opening of the planar base, the pair of securing harnesses secures the removable folding chair within the middle opening of the planar base, and the pair of securing harnesses is coupled on a first front side of the planar base.

2. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 1, wherein the pair of metal tabs is maneuvered out of the inner track groove by tilting the first planar portion sideways.

3. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 1, wherein the removable folding chair includes a first aperture, a second aperture and a diagonal support.

4. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 3, wherein the first aperture is centered and disposed on the first planar portion of the removable folding chair.

5. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 3, wherein the second aperture is centered and disposed on the second planar portion of the shower and bathtub seat.

6. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 3, wherein the diagonal support provides support to the first aperture and the second aperture while the removable folding chair is secured by the pair of securing harnesses.

7. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 3, wherein the first aperture and the second aperture is adjacent to form a third overall aperture that allows a user to wash themselves through the third overall aperture from underneath the removable folding chair.

8. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 1, wherein the pair of securing harnesses includes a hook disposed on an end of each of the pair of securing harnesses.

9. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 1, wherein the hook is coupled to a corresponding loop disposed on a second front side of the planar base.

10. A shower and bathtub seat, comprising:

a planar base having a middle opening, the middle opening having an inner track groove, the planar base may include a bottom planar portion extending from a bottom of the planar base, wherein the inner track groove accommodates a pair of metal tabs disposed on a first side and a second side of the first planar portion;
a removable folding chair disposed in the middle opening of the planar base, the removable folding chair is removed as needed from the middle opening of the planar base, the removable folding chair has a first planar portion, a second planar portion and a hinge, wherein the hinge is disposed between the first planar portion and the second planar portion to allow the first planar portion and the second planar portion to bend outward or to bend inward and the removable folding chair is converted into a hair bowl by spinning the removable folding chair forward and upward towards the planar base;
a pair of securing harnesses extended and coupled on a first front side of the planar base, the pair of securing harnesses includes a hook disposed on an end of each of the pair of securing harnesses that are coupled to a corresponding loop disposed on a second front side of the planar base; and
a pair of securing harnesses extended across the removable folding chair disposed in the middle opening of the planar base, the pair of securing harnesses secures the removable folding chair within the middle opening of the planar base, and the pair of securing harnesses is coupled on a first front side of the planar base.

11. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 10, wherein the pair of metal tabs is maneuvered out of the inner track groove by tilting the first planar portion sideways.

12. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 10, wherein the removable folding chair includes a first aperture, a second aperture and a diagonal support.

13. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 12, wherein the first aperture is centered and disposed on the first planar portion of the removable folding chair.

14. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 12, wherein the second aperture is centered and disposed on the second planar portion of the shower and bathtub seat.

15. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 12, wherein the diagonal support provides support to the first aperture and the second aperture while the removable folding chair is secured by the pair of securing harnesses.

16. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 12, wherein the first aperture and the second aperture is adjacent to form a third overall aperture that allows a user to wash themselves through the third overall aperture from underneath the removable folding chair.

17. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 10, wherein the pair of securing harnesses includes a hook disposed on an end of each of the pair of securing harnesses.

18. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 10, wherein the hook is coupled to a corresponding loop disposed on a second front side of the planar base.

19. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 10, wherein the hair bowl has a second planar portion provided with a centered indentation to accommodate a user's neck on a top edge of the second planar portion.

20. The shower and bathtub seat according to claim 10, wherein the hair bowl includes a raised edging on the second planar portion to prevent a user from getting wet while washing a user's hair while the user's neck is in the hair bowl.
