This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 61/644,421 filed on May 8, 2012.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates to a rain ready cushion, in particular a seating cushion that is adapted for inclement conditions.

2. Description of Related Art

Sporting events at stadiums and other outdoor events often require sitting on a hard plastic seat or sometimes a wooden or aluminum bench. Many of the outdoor stadiums lack any cushioned seating and therefore they become uncomfortable over a period of time. If there is inclement weather during the event such as rain or snow the seating gets even more uncomfortable for the spectator, which is especially true if the rain or snow occurs prior to the event where each seat becomes wet and damp. Consequently, it would be advantageous to have a device that could provide some type of cushioning and comfort during inclement sporting events.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a portable seat cushion comprising: an outer surface; a four sides, where three sides are sealed by stitching and one side includes a slot; a hook and loop fastener, where the fastener seals the slot in a close position; two foam pads within an inner compartment of the cushion; and a poncho within the inner compartment. In one embodiment a handle extends from one of the three stitched sides of the seat cushion. The seat cushion may be in the form of a square cuboid and the square cuboid forms a 16 square inch surface. Further, a top surface of the seat cushion may be made of vinyl material.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1A depicts a side view of a rain cushion in accordance with the present invention.

FIG. 1B depicts the side view of a seat cushion in accordance with the present invention, depicting the opposing side of the cushion.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to a seat cushion that includes a convenient means to carry and handle the cushion through the use of handles extending from each side of the cushion. Further, the cushion includes a vinyl top surface for comfort and seating. Internally, within the seat cushion, are two foam pads that provide the padding for the cushion. Further within the internal compartment of the cushion is a poncho that may be readily received from the cushion cover and used if needed by the user.

In reference to FIG. 1A, a front side view of a Seat Cushion 100 in accordance with the present invention is depicted. The Seat Cushion 100 includes an outer Surface 110 as shown in FIG. 1A. The cushion is a square cuboid shape. On one side of the cushion a Handle 120 is provided. The Handle 120 extends outwardly from one side of the Cushion 100. A shoulder strap may be attached to this handle so that the user may easily transport the Seat Cushion 100 to a particular event or place for use.

FIG. 1B depicts the opposing side of the Seat Cushion 100. The opposing side shows a Slot 130 along one side of the Cushion 100. The Slot 130 allows for the insertion of two Foam Pads 150 within the inner compartment of the Seat Cushion 100. The Slot 130 may be opened and closed for the use of a Hook-and-Loop Fastener 140 shown in FIG. 1B. Dash lines are shown depicting cushion Foam Pieces 150 within the inner compartment. Further within the inner compartment is a Poncho 160 not completely shown, that may be retrieved through the Slot 130 for use by the user. The Poncho 160 is stored within the seats as a means to provide covering during inclement conditions and add an additional function for the Cushion 100. The Cushion 100 further includes a vinyl Top Portion 170 that provides a comfortable outer surface for the user when sitting on the Cushion 100.

In one particular embodiment, the Cushion 100 includes a rectangular or a square cuboid where a 16 square inch surface provides the seating surface for the user. Three sides of the Seat Cushion 100 are sewn together and the fourth side allows access to the inner compartment through the slot and hook-and-loop fasteners. The Cushion 100 provides a kit for use as a cushion and ready access to a poncho for inclement weather at a sporting event. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
