Ornamentation System

Abstract

An ornamentation system is provided that includes one or more jewel settings that are detachably connected to one or more fashion accessories. The system can include one or more setting mounts each of which can receive a jewel setting. The jewel settings of the present disclosure can be detachably mounted to a fashion accessory while in use and removed as needed. Likewise, the fashion accessories of the present disclosure can receive different jewel settings as desired.

Description

TECHNOLOGICAL FIELD

The present disclosure relates generally to fashion accessories. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to jeweled ornamentation of fashion accessories.

BACKGROUND

In the area of fashion accessories, jeweled ornamentation is common. In some cases, jeweled ornamentation includes precious and semi-precious stones. Due to the their aesthetic appeal, jewel ornamentation is commonly used on different accessories. Previously, the use of jeweled ornamentation on different fashion accessories required that separate jewels be provided for each accessory, thereby increasing the costs associated with multiple jeweled pieces. Oftentimes, the value of some jeweled ornamentation created security issues with adorning certain accessories with such ornamentation.

Consequently, there arose a need for a system by which various fashion accessories can be adorned with jeweled ornamentation that is detachable and removably mountable to the various fashion accessories.

SUMMARY

The present disclosure, in part, encompasses an ornamentation system for fashion accessories comprising a jewel setting comprising an ornamental feature, a first setting mount connected to a first fashion accessory and configured to receive the jewel setting, wherein the first setting mount comprises a first fastener element, wherein the first fastener element detachably engages the jewel setting when received by the first setting mount, a second setting mount connected to a second fashion accessory and configured to receive the jewel setting, wherein the second setting mount comprises a second fastener element, wherein the second fastener element detachably engages the jewel setting when received by the second setting mount. The ornamentation system also can include a gem attached to the jewel setting. Additionally, one of the first and the second fashion accessories can be a purse, a necklace, or an earring. In the embodiment wherein one of the first or second fashion accessories is a necklace, a setting mount can be detachably connected to the necklace. In one aspect, the second fashion accessory can be detachably connected to the first fashion accessory.

In another embodiment, the jewel setting of the ornamentation system is threadably engaged to at least one of the setting mounts. In yet another aspect, the jewel setting can be magnetically connected to at least one of setting mounts. In still a further aspect, the ornamentation system can comprise a third setting mount connected to a third accessory, wherein the third setting mount is configured to receive the jewel setting. In such an embodiment, the first accessory can be a purse, the second accessory can be a necklace, and the third accessory can be an earring.

The present disclosure also encompasses a purse that includes an outer shell comprising an interior surface, an exterior surface, and an opening formed therein, wherein the interior surface forms a cavity in communication with the opening. The purse also comprises a setting mount disposed at the exterior surface of the outer shell; and a jewel setting comprising an ornamental feature, wherein the jewel setting is detachably engaged to the setting mount. In one aspect, the jewel setting further comprises a face, a back and a post extending from the back. The purse also can comprise a gem disposed in the jewel setting. In another aspect, the jewel setting can be threadably engaged to the setting mount. In still a further aspect, the jewel setting can be magnetically engaged to the setting mount. The purse also further can comprise a chain detachably connected to the outer shell.

The present disclosure also can encompass an ornamentation system comprising a purse that includes an outer shell having an exterior surface, an exterior surface, and an opening formed therein, a jewel setting detachably mounted to the exterior surface of the outer shell, a chain detachably connected to the outer shell, wherein the chain comprises a first end and a second end, and wherein the first end can be detachably connected to the first end to form a necklace when the chain is detached from the outer shell, and, a pendant having a setting mount formed thereon, wherein the jewel setting can be detachably connected to the pendant, and wherein the pendant is detachably connected to the necklace formed by the chain. In another aspect, the ornamentation system can comprise a setting mount attached to the purse, wherein the jewel setting is received by the setting mount when detachably mounted to the exterior surface of the outer shell of the purse.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present disclosure encompasses ornamentation systems that include one or more jewel settings that can be detachably connected to different fashion accessories. The jewel settings include one or more ornamental features, such as one or more precious or semi-precious gems including, but not limited to, diamond, ruby, sapphire, emerald, amethyst, pearl, opal, topaz, agate, alexandrite, aquamarine, spinel, olivine, quartz, turquoise, zircon, or other gemstone, beads, enameled ornaments, other forms of jeweled ornamentation, precious metals and combinations thereof. The jewel settings can be detachably connected to different accessories of the same type or, alternatively, different types of fashion accessories. Fashion accessories, such as purses, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, and earrings having setting mounts that can receive detachably connected jewel settings are encompassed by the present disclosure.

Various embodiments of the ornamentation systems of the present disclosure are set forth in FIGS. 1-18. FIG. 1 shows a portion of an ornamentation system 100 encompassing aspects of the present disclosure. The ornamentation system 100 comprises a purse 110. The purse 110 includes an outer shell 112 with an exterior surface 114 and an opening 116 formed therein in communication with an interior compartment of the purse 110. Connected to the outer shell 112 of the purse 110 is a chain 151 having a first end 152 and a second end 154. On the first end 152 is a first clasp 156, and on the second end 154 is a second clasp 158. The first and the second clasps 156 and 158 can be spring type clasps that remain in the closed position until engaged. The chain 151 is connected to the outer shell 112 by engagement of the clasps 156 and 158 with a first and a second loop 162 and 164, respectively.

On the exterior surface 114 of the outer shell 112 of the purse 110 are mounted a plurality of jewel settings 120, 130, and 140. Each of the first, second, and third jewel settings 120, 130, and 140 are detachably connected to the purse 110 by engagement with a first, a second, and a third setting mount, respectively, shown in FIG. 2. As shown in FIG. 1, the first, the second, and the third jewel settings 120, 130, and 140 each include a casing forming a seat in which a center gem is disposed. The center gems are each surrounded by a pave of smaller gemstones. The center gem can be any of a variety of precious or semi-precious gems. Each of the jewel settings 120, 130, and 140 can be detached from the setting mounts disposed on the purse to which the settings are connected. The jewel settings 120, 130, and 140 can be reattached to each of the respective setting mounts as desired by engagement of a fastener element formed on each setting mount with the respective jewel setting.

FIG. 2 shows the purse 110 with the chain 151 and the jewel settings 120, 130, and 140 removed. The setting mounts 122, 132, and 142 are shown disposed on the exterior surface 114 of the outer shell 112. The setting mounts 122, 132 and 142 each include a frame with an opening formed therein defined by an interior edge. The interior edge of each setting mount includes one or more notches formed there in for receiving a retaining feature formed on the jewel setting that can be detachably connected thereto. These notches serve as fastener elements that engage portions of the jewel settings that can be detachably connected to the setting mounts.

FIG. 3 shows the jewel settings 120, 130, and 140 detached from any fashion accessory and disposed adjacent to a pendant 172. The pendant 172 includes three setting mounts 173, 175, and 177 that correspond in size and configuration to receive the three jewel settings 120, 130, and 140. Each of the setting mounts 173, 175, and 177 include a plurality of notches 176 formed along an interior edge that receive prongs extending from the back of the jewel settings. When a jewel setting is detachably connected to one of these setting mounts a portion of the jewel setting is disposed within the opening formed in the setting mount, thereby forming a seat into which the jewel setting is seated. The pendant 172 includes a bail 174 formed thereon with a movable clasp for detachably connecting the pendant 172 to a necklace, bracelet, or other fashion accessory.

FIG. 4 shows the jewel settings 120, 130, and 140 detachably connected to the pendant 172. As shown, the jewel setting 120 is connected to the setting mount 173, jewel setting 130 is connected to the setting mount 175, and the jewel setting 140 is connected to the setting mount 177 formed in the pendant 172. Each of the jewel settings 120, 130, and 140 are seated in the setting mounts 173, 175, and 177, respectively.

FIG. 5 shows the back 136 of the jewel setting 130. A plurality of prongs 134 extends from the back 136 of the jewel setting 130. When the jewel setting 130 is detachably connected to either the setting mount 175 formed on the pendant 172 or the setting mount 132 disposed on the purse 110, each of the prongs 134 engage a surface of the setting mounts to which the setting is connected, thereby allowing the jewel setting to be mounted to and retained on the respective fashion accessory until removed.

FIG. 6 shows the pendant 172, with the jewel settings 120, 130, and 140 detachably connected thereto, connected to the chain 151 that was shown detachably connected to the purse 110 shown in FIG. 1. The chain 151 after being detached from the purse 110 is reconfigured into a necklace by connecting the first and the second ends 152 and 154 thereof. More specifically, the first clasp 156 is connected to the second clasp 158 to form a necklace. The pendant 172 is connected to the chain 151 by the engagement of the bail 174 with a link in the chain 151. In this manner, the ornamentation system 100 can include the purse 110, the chain 151, one or more jewel settings 120, 130, and 140, and a pendant 172. The reconfiguration of these components of the ornamentation system can allow for the use of the jewel settings on a first fashion accessory, a purse 110 as shown in FIG. 1, and, alternatively, on a second fashion accessory, such as a necklace, as shown by the combination of the chain 151 and the pendant 172.

FIG. 7 shows a combination jewel setting 230 and setting mount 222 that encompasses aspects of the present disclosure. The jewel setting 230 can include some form of ornamentation disposed thereon. From the back 236 of the jewel setting 230 extends a post 234. A plurality of grooves 238 is formed in the post 234. A sectional view of setting mount 222 is shown in FIG. 7. The setting mount 222 includes a base 224 from which extends a hollow shaft 226. The hollow shaft 226 includes a channel 227. The shaft 226 includes one or more catches 228 that are movably mounted thereto. The catches 228 communicate with the channel 227.

The jewel setting 230 is shown detachably connected to the setting mount 222 in FIG. 8. The post 234 of the jewel setting 230 is disposed in the channel 227 of the shaft 226. The shaft 226 thereby forms a seat in which the jewel setting 230 is disposed. The catches 228 engage the grooves 238 formed on the post 234 so as to retain the jewel setting 230 within the setting mount 222.

FIG. 9 shows another combination of a jewel setting 330 and a setting mount 322 that encompasses aspects of the present disclosure. The jewel setting 330 includes ornamentation, such as one or more gems, and has a magnet 334 disposed on the back 336 thereof. When the jewel setting 330 is engaged to the setting mount 322 the magnet 334 is disposed in the seat 327 formed in the channel 326 extending from the base 324 of the setting mount 322. The magnetic engagement of the magnet 334 with the setting mount 322 allows for the jewel setting 330 to be mounted on and retained by the setting mount 322 until removed.

FIG. 10 shows yet another jewel setting 430 and setting mount 422 that encompass aspects of the present disclosure. The jewel setting 430 includes a gem seated therein surrounded by a plurality of pave stones and a threaded post 434 extending from the back 436 thereof. The setting mount 422 includes a base 424 from which extends a shaft 426 that includes a threaded channel 427 formed therein. FIG. 11 shows the jewel setting 420 threadably engaged to the setting mount 422. The threaded post 434 is threadably disposed in the threaded channel 427 of the shaft 426, thereby allowing the jewel setting 430 to be retained on the setting mount 422. The jewel setting 430 can be attached to and detached from the setting mount 422 by threading and unthreading the post 426.

FIG. 12 shows another jewel setting 530 and setting mount 522 that encompass aspects of the present disclosure. The jewel setting 530 includes an interior threaded cap 534 disposed on the back 536 of the jewel setting 530. The jewel setting can be connected to the setting mount 522 by threadably engaging the cap 534 to the threaded post 526 extending from the base 524 of the setting mount 522.

FIG. 13 shows still another combination of jewel setting 630 and setting mount 622 that encompasses aspects of the present disclosure. The jewel setting 630 includes a frustoconical post 634 extending from the back 636 thereof. The frustoconical post 634 includes a groove 635 formed thereon that engages a retaining bead 628 formed on the interior wall of the shaft 626 of the setting mount 622 when the post 634 is disposed in the channel 627 formed in the shaft 626. The shaft 626 extends from the base 624 of the setting mount 622.

FIG. 14 shows a pair of earrings with jewel settings connected thereto and encompassing aspects of the present disclosure. The jewel settings 720 and 730 each include a center gemstone surrounded by a pave of smaller gems. Each jewel setting 720 and 730 is detachably connected to one of the earrings 728 and 738. As shown in FIG. 15, each earring 728 and 738 includes a setting mount 722 and 732, respectively, formed thereon. Each setting mount 722 and 732 includes an interior opening defined by an interior edge. Within each interior edge is defined one or more notches 726, each of which is configured to receive a prong formed on the jewel setting. As shown in FIG. 16, each jewel setting 720 and 730 includes one or more prongs 724 and 734, respectively, extending from the backs 726 and 736, respectively, of the jewel settings. When the jewel settings 720 and 730 are connected to the earrings 728 and 738 respectively, the prongs 724 and 734 are disposed adjacent the notches 726 and 736, respectively, formed in the setting mounts 722 and 732 of each earring 728 and 738. The engagement of the prongs 724 and 734 with the setting mounts 722 and 732 allow for the detachable connecting of the jewel settings 720 and 730 to the earrings 728 and 738 respectively.

A pendant 742 is shown in FIG. 17. The pendant 742 includes a bail 748 and two setting mounts formed therein. Each of the setting mounts includes a plurality of notches 776 formed therein for receiving the prongs 724 and 734 of the jewel settings 720 and 730. As shown in FIG. 18, the jewel settings 720 and 730 can be detachably connected to the pendant 742 by the engagement of the prongs 724 and 734 with the setting mounts formed in the pendant 742. Also shown FIG. 18 is a chain 758 engaged with the bail 748 formed on the pendant 742 to form a necklace with jewel settings 720 and 730 mounted thereto.

As shown in FIGS. 14 and 18, the jewel settings 720 and 730 can be detachably connected to multiple fashion accessories, such as earrings, pendants, and necklaces. In the ornamentation systems disclosed herein, the fashion accessories to which jewel settings can be detachably connected include one or more setting mounts that are configured to receive the jewel settings and retain them on the fashion accessory during use. In this manner, a jewel setting can be attached to a first fashion accessory, removed, and then connected to a second fashion accessory as desired.

The disclosed ornamentation systems can be used to connect a jewel setting to multiple fashion accessories. Likewise, multiple jewel settings can be used in conjunction with a single fashion accessory. For example, earrings of the type disclosed herein can be used in conjunction with jewel settings containing diamonds on one occasion; and on another occasion the same earrings can be used in conjunction with other jewel settings that contain sapphires or some other gem. In this manner, the options for personal ornamentation can be expanded with fewer pieces.

Each of the embodiments of the jewel settings and setting mounts disclosed herein can be used with various types of accessories. In each case, the disclosed setting mounts are attached to the particular fashion accessory, whether a purse, pendant, earring, necklace, bracelet, or other accessory and are configured to receive a jewel setting with the appropriate fastening mechanism. The use various fasteners disclosed in the embodiments of the jewel settings and setting mounts can vary as appropriate to accommodate the size and shape of the ornamentation formed on the jewel settings and to conform to the fashion accessory to which the settings are attached.

The present disclosure encompasses not only the disclosed jewel setting and setting mount combinations and their respective fastening means, but also individual fashion accessories and combinations thereof.

Claims

1. An ornamentation system for fashion accessories comprising:

a jewel setting comprising an ornamental feature;

a first setting mount connected to a first fashion accessory and configured to receive the jewel setting, wherein the first setting mount comprises a first fastener element, wherein the first fastener element detachably engages the jewel setting when received by the first setting mount; and,

a second setting mount connected to a second fashion accessory and configured to receive the jewel setting, wherein the second setting mount comprises a second fastener element, wherein the second fastener element detachably engages the jewel setting when received by the second setting mount.

2. The ornamentation system of claim 1, wherein the jewel setting further comprises a gem attached thereto.

3. The ornamentation system of claim 1, wherein at least one of the first and the second fashion accessories is a purse.

4. The ornamentation system of claim 1, wherein the first fashion accessory is a necklace.

5. The ornamentation system of claim 4, wherein the first setting mount is detachably connected to the necklace.

6. The ornamentation system of claim 1, wherein the second fashion accessory is an earring.

7. The ornamentation system of claim 1, wherein the second fashion accessory is detachably connected to the first fashion accessory.

8. The ornamentation system of claim 1, wherein the jewel setting is threadably engaged to the first setting mount.

9. The ornamentation system of claim 1, wherein the jewel setting is magnetically connected to the first setting mount.

10. The ornamentation system of claim 1, further comprising a third setting mount connected to a third fashion accessory, wherein the third setting mount is configured to receive the jewel setting.

11. The ornamentation system of claim 10, wherein the first accessory is a purse, the second accessory is a necklace, and the third accessory is an earring.

12. A purse comprising:

an outer shell comprising an interior surface, an exterior surface, and an opening formed therein, wherein the interior surface forms a cavity in communication with the opening;

a setting mount disposed at the exterior surface of the outer shell; and,

a jewel setting comprising an ornamental feature, wherein the jewel setting is detachably engaged to the setting mount.

13. The purse of claim 12, wherein the jewel setting further comprises a face, a back and a post extending from the back.

14. The purse of claim 12, further comprising a gem disposed in the jewel setting.

15. The purse of claim 12, wherein the jewel setting is threadably engaged to the setting mount.

16. The purse of claim 12, wherein the jewel setting is magnetically engaged to the setting mount.

17. The purse of claim 12, further comprising a chain detachably connected to the outer shell.

18. An ornamentation system comprising:

a purse comprising an outer shell having an exterior surface, an exterior surface, and an opening formed therein;

a jewel setting detachably mounted to the exterior surface of the outer shell;

a chain detachably connected to the outer shell, wherein the chain comprises a first end and a second end, and wherein the first end can be detachably connected to the second end to form a necklace when the chain is detached from the outer shell; and,

a pendant having a setting mount formed thereon, wherein the jewel setting is detachably receivable by the setting mount, and wherein the pendant is detachably connectable to the necklace.

19. The ornamentation system of claim 18, further comprising a setting mount attached to the purse, wherein the jewel setting is received by the setting mount when detachably mounted to the exterior surface of the outer shell of the purse.
