Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a mahjong game set and more particularly to a mahjong game set having exercise effect.

2. Description of Related Art

Mahjong game is a traditionally Chinese strategy game having at least 144 mahjong tiles, and played by four players seated around a table.

When playing mahjong game, players are seated around a table and draw or move mahjong tiles with slight and slow moving of the hands. Further, a complete mahjong match usually takes several hours, which means players have to be seated sedentarily and move very little for a long time during a mahjong match.

In addition, some players throw mahjong tiles hard for entertainment as well as exercising. However, a tabletop of a table for playing mahjong game is usually a smooth plane. The mahjong tiles may slip out of the tabletop during a mahjong match. With this concern, the players cannot throw the mahjong tiles too hard, and the exercise effect is hence limited

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The main objective of the invention is to provide a mahjong game set having exercise effect for players playing mahjong matches with the mahjong game set.

The mahjong game set comprises a table and four mahjong tile sets; the table has a concaved surface formed on a center of a tabletop of the table and also has multiple tile holders; wherein each tile holder has multiple tile standing recesses and multiple tile displaying recesses concavely formed on the tile holder; each mahjong tile set has multiple mahjong tiles respectively having different pattern surfaces or character surfaces, each mahjong tile is spherical and can be placed in the concaved surface, the tile standing recess or the tile displaying recess of the table.

When players play a mahjong match with the mahjong game set, each player selects a mahjong tile and throws the selected mahjong tile hard into the concaved surface of the table. The spherical mahjong tiles roll in the concaved surface and do not slip out of the table. The players get enough exercise from throwing the mahjong tiles during the mahjong match so that the players feel comfortable even for a long time of sitting.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

With reference to FIGS. 1 to 3, a preferred embodiment of a mahjong game set in accordance with the present invention comprises a table 10 and four mahjong tile sets.

With reference to FIGS. 1, 3 and 4, the table 10 is square, and has a concaved surface 12 and four tile holders 13.

The concaved surface 12 is formed on a tabletop 11 of the table 10.

The four tile holders 13 are respectively mounted on four sides of a table edge of the tabletop 11. Each tile holder 13 has twenty-seven tile standing recesses 131 and twenty-seven tile displaying recesses 132 formed on the tile holder 13. The tile displaying recesses 132 are formed between the tile standing recesses 131 and the table edge of the tabletop 11. The tile standing recesses 131 are formed at intervals and arranged in a first line. The tile displaying recesses 132 are also formed at intervals and arranged in a second line. The first line and the second line are parallel to each other. A horizontal cross section of the tile standing recess 131 is circular, and a horizontal cross section of the tile displaying recesses 132 is oval.

Each mahjong tile set has twenty-seven mahjong tiles 21 respectively having different pattern surfaces or character surfaces. Each mahjong tile set includes nine circle mahjong tiles 21A, nine character mahjong tiles 21B and nine bamboo mahjong tiles 21C. The nine circle mahjong tiles 21A of each mahjong tile set respectively have a pattern surface, and the nine pattern surfaces respectively have one circle, two circles, till sequentially up to nine circles. The nine character mahjong tiles 21B of each mahjong tile set respectively have a character surface having a set of Chinese characters representing numerals sequentially from “” (meaning ten thousand in English), “” (meaning twenty thousand in English), till up to Chinese character “” (means ninety thousand in English). Each mahjong tile set includes one of the nine bamboo mahjong tiles 21C having a pattern surface having a bird and the other eight bamboo mahjong tiles 21C respectively having a pattern surface having sequentially two straight lines, three straight lines, till up to nine straight lines. Each mahjong tile is an oval sphere and has the pattern surface or the character surface on a side of the mahjong tile.

Four players are required for playing a mahjong match with the mahjong game set in accordance with the present invention. All the mahjong tiles 21 are put in an opaque bag, and each player draws twenty-seven mahjong tiles 21 from the bag until all the mahjong tiles 21 are drawn by the players. With further reference to FIG. 4, when a player has three or four mahjong tiles 21 having the same pattern surfaces or the same character surfaces, the player puts the three or four mahjong tiles 21 with same pattern/character surfaces respectively into the adjacent tile displaying recesses 132 of the tile holder 13 in front of the player. The horizontal cross section of the tile displaying recess 132 is oval, such that a mahjong tile 21 can lie in the tile displaying recess 132 and a side of the mahjong tile 21 having a pattern surface or a character surface faces upward to show the mahjong tile 21 to other players. The rest of the mahjong tiles 21 are respectively put into the tile standing recesses 131. The horizontal cross section of the tile standing recess 131 is circular, such that a mahjong tile 21 can be positioned upright in the tile standing recess 131. Then the side of the mahjong tile 21 having the pattern surface or the character surface faces to the player such that the rest of the mahjong tiles 21 are not seen by other players.

With reference to FIGS. 1 and 5, after all the mahjong tiles 21 are sorted by the players, the mahjong match starts. Each player selects one of his mahjong tiles 21 and throws the selected mahjong tile 21 hard into the concaved surface 12. All the players throw the selected mahjong tile 21 in turn. When another player has two mahjong tiles 21 having the same pattern surfaces or the same character surfaces as the thrown mahjong tile 21, the player can announce out loudly “Pong” and draw the thrown mahjong tile 21. Then the player puts the three same mahjong tiles 21 into his tile displaying recesses 132, selects a mahjong tile 21 from his tile standing recesses 131 and throws the selected mahjong tile 21 hard into the concaved surface 12. Optionally, when another player has three mahjong tiles 21 having same pattern surfaces or character surfaces as the thrown mahjong tile 21, the player can announce out loudly “Kong” and draw the thrown mahjong tile 21. Then the player puts the four same mahjong tiles 21 into his tile displaying recesses 132, selects a mahjong tile 21 from his tile standing recesses 131 and throws the selected mahjong tile 21 hard into the concaved surface 12. Then the same process as above resumes again. With further reference to FIG. 6, the above-mentioned process keeps going until one player has no mahjong tile 21 in his tile standing recess 131 and wins the mahjong match.

In the process of the mahjong match using the mahjong game set in accordance with the present invention, each player has to throw the mahjong tiles 21 hard, such that the players get enough exercise from the process of the mahjong match.

In other preferred embodiments of a mahjong game set in accordance with the present invention, a quantity of the mahjong tiles of each mahjong tile set can be increased or decreased, and the pattern surfaces or character surfaces of the mahjong tiles can also be changed under a premise that the players can distinguish the mahjong tiles. The tile holders of the table can be adjusted for two, three or more than four players. The mahjong tile can be a sphere as long as the mahjong tile can roll in the concaved surface of the table.

Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and features of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in the details, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
