Knitted Rain Cap

A rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance includes a brimless hat and a cap. The brimless hat consists of an aesthetic exterior layer and the cap consists of a waterproof layer. The cap is placed within the brimless hat such that the aesthetic exterior layer is visible when the rain hat is worn by a user. When the hat is worn, a lining is in contact with the user's hair. However, the waterproof layer prevents rain water from reaching the user's hair through the lining. A cap opening of the cap can be altered through an adjustable band of the cap. The cap and the brimless hat can be fixed or detachably attached together. The lining includes a storage bag that can be used for storage when the cap and the brimless hat are not used.

Description

The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 61/866,345 filed on Aug. 15, 2013.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to the field of head coverings designed for different weather conditions. More specifically, the present invention is a hat that is aesthetically pleasing and that can also be used during inclement weather.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Hats and other kinds of head coverings have evolved from being used for protection from environmental conditions to being an essential fashion accessory. As seen on many occasions hats are worn by many individuals for protection from sun. Also, certain types of hats are worn for protection from inclement weather conditions such as rain or snow.

A majority of the hats are fixed in size and fits tightly on an individual's head. As a result, the hair of an individual is most likely to be unruly after wearing a hat. Even though unruly hair might not be an issue for individuals with short hair, it can cause problems for individuals with notably longer hair. Especially, it may be disadvantageous to female individuals who at times spend a considerable amount of time and money on preparing hair. However, the present invention is also beneficial to individuals who have short hair that is styled or curled and seeks protection from rain water.

Hats that are used as fashion accessories have an aesthetically pleasing experience. The hats with an aesthetically pleasing appearance can be used to protect an individual against the sun. However, the hats with an aesthetically pleasing appearance cannot be used against inclement weather such as snow or rain. On the other hand, hats designed for inclement weather conditions do not have an aesthetically pleasing appearance. Furthermore, most hats designed for use in inclement weather, only cover a portion of the wearer's head.

The tight fit of the hats designed as fashion accessories and the appearance of the hats designed for inclement weather present a series of disadvantages. For instance, the hats designed for inclement weather only cover a portion of the wearer's head. Also, due to the appearance, an individual who is dressed up may not prefer to wear a hat designed for inclement weather. In contrast, the tight fit hats can disrupt the hair arrangement of the wearer.

The need for hats with an aesthetically pleasing appearance that can also be used during inclement weather is clearly evident. Proper hats that can protect the hair from rain water are important so that issues such as hair swelling can be prevented. Additionally, humidity is also a major source of hair swelling. This further emphasizes the need for a hat that can be used in different weather conditions.

The objective of the present invention is to provide a solution to the aforementioned issues. More specifically, the present invention is a hat that can be used in rainy weather but also has an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The effective design of the present invention allows the hat to fit loosely over an individual's head entirely. As a result of the loose fit, the hair of the wearer is not disrupted. Furthermore, due to the pleasing appearance the hat can be worn at all times.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

The present invention is a rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as illustrated in FIG. 1. More specifically, a user can wear the present invention during rainy conditions and protect hair from getting wet. In order to protect the hair of the user, the present invention comprises a brimless hat 1 and a cap 5. Both the brimless hat 1 and the cap 5 are oversized such that the user's hair is not disrupted by wearing the present invention. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the aesthetically pleasing appearance is achieved through the brimless hat 1. In other embodiments of the present invention, another hat with a brim or a hat with a visor can also be utilized. FIG. 12 is an illustration of the present invention when a visor 100 is integrated into the present invention. On the other hand, the cap 5 protects the user's hair from rain water.

The brimless hat 1 is illustrated in FIG. 3, FIG. 6, and FIG. 7. The brimless hat 1 comprises an aesthetic exterior layer 2, an interior layer 3, and a hat opening 4. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the aesthetic exterior layer 2 is a knitted layer. However, in another embodiment of the present invention, the aesthetic exterior layer 2 can be any other decorative design and be made of a soft material which can be, but is not limited to cotton, nylon, and mesh material. The aesthetic exterior layer 2 is superimposed onto the interior layer 3 such that only the aesthetic exterior layer 2 is visible when the present invention is worn. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the brimless hat 1 is similar to a beanie. However, in another embodiment of the present invention the brimless hat 1 can have a different shape. When the present invention comprises the visor 100 as illustrated in FIG. 12, the visor 100 will be integrated onto the brimless hat 1.

The cap 5 prevents rain water from reaching the hair of the user. In order to do so, the cap 5 comprises a waterproof layer 6, a lining 7, and a cap opening 12 as seen in FIG. 6. The lining 7 is made of, but is not limited to, a satin material. The material of the lining 7 is important to provide comfort to the user when the present invention is worn for a long period of time. Furthermore, the waterproof layer 6 is placed adjacent to the lining 7. In other embodiments of the present invention, additional layers can be added in between the waterproof layer 6 and the lining 7. The additional layers can be, but is not limited to, a thermal layer or a reflective layer. The cap 5 is positioned within the brimless hat 1 such that the cap 5 is not visible when worn. As a result, the interior layer 3 of the brimless hat 1 is positioned atop the cap 5. In the functional positioning of the cap 5 and the brimless hat 1, the cap opening 12 is encircled by the hat opening 4.

The cap 5 can be functional in a plurality of configurations. In a first configuration of the cap 5, the lining 7 can be superimposed onto the waterproof layer 6. However, the brimless hat 1 will be positioned in a similar manner as mentioned before. In a second configuration of the cap 5, an additional outer layer can be superimposed onto the waterproof layer 6. In contrast to the first configuration, the waterproof layer 6 will be superimposed onto the lining 7. The brimless hat 1 will be positioned similar to the first configuration. In a third configuration of the cap 5, the additional outer layer can be superimposed on the lining 7. Furthermore, the lining 7 will be superimposed on the waterproof layer 6.

In the first embodiment of the present invention, the cap 5 further comprises a first adjustable band 14 and a flange section 13. The first adjustable band 14 is utilized to adjust the size of the cap opening 12 such that the present invention can be worn by a number of users. The first adjustable band 14 is made of an elastic material. However, any other comparable material is also satisfactory. As illustrated in FIG. 3, the flange section 13 is positioned in between the first adjustable band 14 and the cap opening 12. Furthermore, the brimless hat 1 is attached to the cap 5 in the first embodiment of the present invention. As illustrated in FIG. 5, the brimless hat 1 is attached to the flange section 13 at the cap opening 12. As illustrated in FIG. 3, the brimless hat 1 and the cap 5 can be attached through means that include, but is not limited to, sewing.

In the second embodiment of the present invention, the brimless hat 1 and the cap 5 can be separated from each other as illustrated in FIG. 8. The detachability is beneficial for proper maintenance of the cap 5 and the brimless hat 1. In order to implement detachability, the present invention comprises an attachment mechanism 15. Furthermore, the cap 5 comprises a second adjustable band 20 and a U-shaped nonslip band 18. The U-shaped nonslip band 18 and the second adjustable band 20 delineate the cap opening 12. Similar to the first embodiment, the second adjustable band 20 is utilized to adjust the cap opening 12 such that the present invention firmly fits on a user's head. Furthermore, the second adjustable band 20 is also made of an elastic material in the second embodiment of the present invention. The U-shaped nonslip band 18 is utilized in order to provide a comfortable contact area between the cap 5 and the user's head. The U-shaped nonslip band 18 can be made of, but is not limited to, a nonslip material such as velvet. The nonslip material is beneficial in securing the present invention around the user's head. The second adjustable band 20 is connected between a first end 19 and a second end 21 of the U-shaped nonslip band 18 as seen in FIG. 9. Preferably, the second adjustable band 20 is on the back of the head when worn by the user. In order to be detached from the cap 5, the brimless hat 1 is detachably attached to the U-shaped nonslip band 18 through the attachment mechanism 15. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the brimless hat 1 is attached to the cap 5 with a hook and loop fastening mechanism. More specifically, the interior layer 3 comprises a hook portion 16 and the U-shaped nonslip band 18 comprises a loop portion 17. In order to attach the brimless hat 1 to the cap 5, the hook portion 16 is engaged with the loop portion 17. However, a different attachment mechanism such as snaps can also be used in another embodiment of the present invention.

A commonly seen issue with wet umbrellas and wet rain jackets is the inability to be stored when indoors. In order to address the mentioned issue, the present invention comprises a storage bag 8 as seen in FIG. 10. The storage bag 8 is laterally connected to the lining 7 such that the storage bag 8 is not visible when the present invention is worn. The storage bag 8 comprises an opening collapsing mechanism 10 and a bag opening 9. The bag opening 9 is delineated by the opening collapsing mechanism 10 which allows the user to control the bag opening 9 by utilizing the opening collapsing mechanism 10. As illustrated in FIG. 11, the cap 5 and the brimless hat 1 are stuffed into the storage bag 8 through the bag opening 9. Once the cap 5 and the brimless hat 1 are inside the storage bag 8, the storage bag 8 is closed by utilizing the opening closing mechanism 10. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the opening collapsing mechanism 10 is a drawstring. However, in another embodiment of the present invention, the opening collapsing mechanism 10 can be, but is not limited to, a zipper or a fold-over pocket.

In utilizing the first embodiment of the present invention, the consequent process flow is followed. Initially, the size of the cap opening 5 is adjusted with the use of the first adjustable band 14. Next, the present invention is worn such that the first adjustable band 14 is placed around the head of the user. Similar to the first embodiment, the second adjustable band 20 is adjusted such that the head of a user can comfortably fit in the cap opening 12 of the second embodiment. Next, the present invention is worn such that the U-shaped nonslip band 18 comfortably fits around the user's head. If the user intends on replacing the brimless hat 1 or the cap 5, it can be done by utilizing the attachment mechanism 15. Additionally, the attachment mechanism 15 allows the user to interchange between different aesthetic styles of the brimless hat 1. As a result, the physical appearance of the present invention can be changed to accommodate the user's preference.

When the present invention is worn during rainy conditions, the aesthetic exterior layer 2 provides a pleasing appearance. The waterproof layer 6 prevents rain water from reaching the user's hair. As illustrated in FIG. 4, rain water can pass through the brimless hat 1 but will not reach the user's hair through the cap 5. Once the present invention is used, the present invention can be stored in the storage bag 8. Since the storage bag 8 is laterally connected to the lining 7, the storage bag 8 is not exposed to rain or any other environmental conditions. As a result, the brimless hat 1 will be placed within the cap 5 when inserted to the storage bag 8. The positioning of the brimless hat 1 and the cap 5 eliminates any unfavorable situations such as dripping rain water.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims

1. A rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance comprises:

a brimless hat;
a cap;
the brimless hat comprises an aesthetic exterior layer, an interior layer, and a hat opening;
the cap comprises a waterproof layer, a lining, and a cap opening;
the cap being positioned within the brimless hat;
the aesthetic exterior layer being superimposed onto the interior layer;
the waterproof layer being adjacently positioned with the lining;
the brimless hat being positioned atop the cap; and
the cap opening being encircled by the hat opening.

2. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the cap further comprises a first adjustable band and a flange section;
the flange section being positioned in between the first adjustable band and the cap opening; and
the brimless hat being attached to the flange section at the cap opening.

3. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 2, wherein the first adjustable band is made of an elastic material.

4. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

an attachment mechanism;
the cap further comprises a second adjustable band and a U-shaped nonslip band;
the second adjustable band being connected between a first end and a second end of the U-shaped nonslip band;
the cap opening being delineated by both the U-shaped nonslip band and the second adjustable band; and
the brimless hat being detachably attached to the U-shaped nonslip band through the attachment mechanism.

5. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 4, wherein the second adjustable band is made of an elastic material.

6. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 4 comprises:

the interior layer comprises a hook portion;
the U-shaped nonslip band comprises a loop portion; and
the hook portion being engaged with the loop portion.

7. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

a storage bag;
the storage bag comprises an opening collapsing mechanism and a bag opening;
the storage bag being laterally connected to the lining; and
the bag opening being delineated by the opening collapsing mechanism.

8. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 7, wherein the opening collapsing mechanism is a drawstring.

9. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 1, wherein the lining is made of a satin material.

10. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

a visor; and
the visor being integrated onto the brimless hat;

11. A rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance comprises:

a brimless hat;
a cap;
a storage bag;
a visor;
the brimless hat comprises an aesthetic exterior layer, an interior layer, and a hat opening;
the cap comprises a waterproof layer, a lining, and a cap opening;
the cap being positioned within the brimless hat;
the aesthetic exterior layer being superimposed onto the interior layer;
the interior layer being superimposed onto the waterproof layer;
the waterproof layer being superimposed onto the lining;
the cap opening being encircled by the hat opening;
the storage bag comprises an opening collapsing mechanism and a bag opening;
the storage bag being laterally connected to the lining;
the bag opening being delineated by the opening collapsing mechanism;
the opening collapsing mechanism being a drawstring;
the lining being made of satin; and
the visor being integrated onto the brimless hat.

12. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 11 comprises:

the cap further comprises a first adjustable band and a flange section;
the flange section being positioned in between the first adjustable band and the cap opening; and
the brimless hat being attached to the flange section at the cap opening.

13. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 12, wherein the first adjustable band is made of an elastic material.

14. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 11 comprises:

an attachment mechanism;
the cap further comprises a second adjustable band and a U-shaped nonslip band;
the second adjustable band being connected between a first end and a second end of the U-shaped nonslip band;
the cap opening being delineated by both the U-shaped nonslip band and the second adjustable band; and
the brimless hat being detachably attached to the U-shaped nonslip band through the attachment mechanism.

15. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 14, wherein the second adjustable band is made of an elastic material.

16. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 14 comprises:

the interior layer comprises a hook portion;
the U-shaped nonslip band comprises a loop portion; and
the hook portion being engaged with the loop portion.

17. A rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance comprises:

a brimless hat;
a cap;
a storage bag;
a visor;
the brimless hat comprises an aesthetic exterior layer, an interior layer, and a hat opening;
the cap comprises a waterproof layer, a lining, and a cap opening;
the cap being positioned within the brimless hat;
the aesthetic exterior layer being superimposed onto the interior layer;
the interior layer being superimposed onto the waterproof layer;
the waterproof layer being superimposed onto the lining;
the cap opening being encircled by the hat opening;
the storage bag comprises an opening collapsing mechanism and a bag opening;
the storage bag being laterally connected to the lining;
the bag opening being delineated by the opening collapsing mechanism;
the opening collapsing mechanism being a drawstring;
the lining being made of satin, and
the visor being integrated onto the brimless hat.

18. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 17 comprises:

the cap further comprises a first adjustable band and a flange section;
the flange section being positioned in between the first adjustable band and the cap opening;
the brimless hat being attached to the flange section at the cap opening; and
the first adjustable band being made of an elastic material.

19. The rain hat with an aesthetically pleasing appearance as claimed in claim 17 comprises:

an attachment mechanism;
the cap further comprises a second adjustable band and a U-shaped nonslip band;
the second adjustable band being connected between a first end and a second end of the U-shaped nonslip band;
the cap opening being delineated by both the U-shaped nonslip band and the second adjustable band;
the brimless hat being detachably attached to the U-shaped nonslip band through the attachment mechanism;
the second adjustable band being made of an elastic material;
the interior layer comprises a hook portion;
the U-shaped nonslip band comprises a loop portion; and
the hook portion being engaged with the loop portion.
