MAGNETIC MECHANICS GLOVE
A pair of magnetic mechanics gloves for allowing metal objects to be removably attached magnetically thereto comprising a right magnetic mechanics glove and a left magnetic mechanics glove. The right magnetic mechanics glove is defined by a conventional right handed glove body having magnetically infused finger tips and, in some embodiments, a magnetically infused dorsal side. The left magnetic mechanics glove is defined by a conventional left handed glove body which has three magnetic strips affixed in parallel to the surface of its dorsal side, below the finger area and above the wrist area.
This application claims the benefit of and incorporates by reference co-pending U.S. provisional patent application Ser. No. 61/881,054 filed Sep. 23, 2013.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION1. Field of the Invention
This invention relates generally to object handling accessories and, more particularly, to a wearable glove which is adapted to allow metal objects to be removably attached thereto.
2. Description of the Prior Art
The use of fasteners such as screws, nails, and bolts, is well known in essentially all types of mechanic's work. It is also well known that fasteners are typically designed for use with a particular complementary tool so that a user and engage the fastener in its intended manner to most effectively create an intended result. For example, screws are typically designed for use with screwdrivers, nails with hammers, and bolts with wrenches. As a result, when fasteners are deployed, the user will also commonly be required to also hold the complementary tool.
Fasteners are often constructed of metal. When in use, they must commonly be kept in arms reach so as to allow the user to access them while handling a complementary tool during the performance jobs such as building or repairing machinery. A problem which still exists, however, is that because fasteners must be kept so close to be useful and convenient, they are often dropped or lost while the user is handling tools or other fasteners. Thus, there remains a need for a wearable mechanics glove which would allow a user to hold fasteners (or other small objects) securely without requiring the use the user's hands. It would be helpful if such a mechanics glove utilized magnetism for a retaining means so as to work for substantially all metal fasteners (or other small metal objects). It would be additionally desirable for such a mechanics glove was adapted as an assembly which provided for different retaining arrangement on each hand.
The Applicant's invention described herein provides for a mechanic's glove set adapted to include magnetic portions on the palmar and dorsal side of a user's hands. The primary components of Applicant's adjustable extension bar are a left hand glove, a right hand glove, and a plurality of magnetic portions. When in operation, the mechanic's glove allows a user to removably affix metal fasteners to his hand so that they are immediately accessible when needed but not required to be consciously held. As a result, many of the limitations of the prior art are removed.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONA pair of magnetic mechanics gloves for allowing metal objects to be removably attached magnetically thereto. The pair of magnetic mechanics gloves comprises a right magnetic mechanics glove and a left magnetic mechanics glove. The right magnetic mechanics glove is defined by a conventional right handed glove body having magnetically infused finger tips and, in some embodiments, a magnetically infused dorsal side. As a result, the right magnetic mechanics glove allows metal objects to be removably attached thereto without requiring gripping action from multiple fingers or wedging action with other structures and, in the embodiment with the magnetically infused dorsal side, allows metal objects to be retained magnetically by a user magnetically on the dorsal side of the user's right hand.
The left magnetic mechanics glove is defined by a conventional left handed glove body which has three magnetic strips affixed in parallel to the surface of its dorsal side, below the finger area and above the wrist area. The strips provide a magnetic area on the dorsal side of a user's hand which is suitable to removably attached metal objects thereto.
It is an object of this invention to provide a wearable mechanics glove which would allow a user to hold fasteners securely without requiring the use the user's hands.
It is another object of this invention to provide a mechanics glove utilizing magnetism for a retaining means so as to work for substantially any small metal object.
It is yet another object of this invention to provide a mechanics glove adapted as an assembly which provided for different retaining arrangement on each hand.
These and other objects will be apparent to one of skill in the art.
Referring now to the drawings and in particular
In addition, some embodiments of a right magnetic mechanics glove 10 are configured with a dorsal magnetic portion 12, defined by magnetic material infused in the glove material on the dorsal side of the right magnetic mechanics glove 10. The dorsal magnetic portion 12 additionally allows for metal objects to be retained magnetically by a user magnetically as opposed to mechanically on the dorsal side of the user's right hand.

In another alternate embodiment, the right handed glove includes magnetic strips on its dorsal side and does not include magnetically infused finger tips, while the left handed glove includes magnetically infused finger tips but not magnetic strips on its dorsal side.
The instant invention has been shown and described herein in what is considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiment. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made therefrom within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
