Laptop Computer Bag with Detachable Purse

The Laptop Computer Bag with a Detachable Purse is designed to meet the needs of a female traveler or commuter, while minimizing the number of bags that have to be carried. When detached, either bag can be utilized independently, but the primary focus of the detached bags is the purse. It is totally disguised as a part of a joined bag and appears as a single unit, making it professional in appearance for the business woman.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

The idea of the bag came into being as a result of the difficulties arising from passage through TSA security checkpoints, especially for quick, short trips which do not require large amounts of luggage. I, as well as female colleagues, were always running into trouble with TSA and/or the airlines for too many carry-on bags. The need to reduce the number of bags to avoid checked bags, but still be able to carry a purse and a computer bag was a necessity.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The Laptop Computer Bag with a Detachable Purse is designed to minimize the number of items carried through security check points at airports by combining what has traditionally been two bags into one. The utilization of a separating zipper to combine the two bags provides a unbreakable connection between the bags. When detached, either bag can be utilized independently, but together, the joined bag functions as one unit, serving a dual purpose.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 From the front, the pair of bags appears as one bag. In this design, the border on the laptop computer bag is shown in contrast to the body fabric of the bag, but matching the fabric of the purse. The zipper holding the two bags together is hidden by a fabric flange. A horizontal pocket is incorporated into this design (different pocket configurations can be used). In addition, joining the two bags together creates a deep pocket between the two, giving easy access to personal items. An adjustable, detachable shoulder strap, as well as handles, are shown on the computer portion of the bag. The adjustable, detachable shoulder strap for the purse is hidden in the deep pocket between the two bags.

FIG. 2 From the back, only the laptop computer bag is visible, with the top border contrasting to the body of the bag. Both shoulder strap and handles are shown.

FIG. 3 From the top, both bags are visible. Both have zippered openings and the tops of both bags are the same color (straps removed for clarity).

FIG. 4 From the bottom, both bags are visible, with the fabric of the laptop computer bag contrasting to the fabric of the purse (straps removed for clarity).

FIG. 5 From the sides, both bags are visible, with the fabric of the laptop computer bag contrasting to the fabric of the purse. The zipper of the laptop computer bag extends down the side of the bag from the top, to allow easy removal of the computer. Both shoulder strap and handles are shown.

FIG. 6 From the front, the two bags are shown as separated, with the back half of the zipper clearly showing across the bottom of the laptop computer bag and extending up both sides. The front half of the zipper remains hidden on the back of the purse. The contrasting colors still appear on the laptop computer bag, but the purse now appears as separate entity, in one color. Both shoulder strap and handles are shown on the computer portion of the bag, as well as the shoulder strap of the purse.

FIG. 7 From the back, the two bags are shown as separated, with the front half of the zipper clearly showing across the bottom of the purse and extending up both sides. In construction the front half of the zipper is invisible, hidden by a fabric flange. Both shoulder strap and handles are shown on the computer portion of the bag, as well as the shoulder strap of the purse.

FIG. 8 From the sides, the two bags are shown as separated, with the separated halves of the zipper clearly showing extending up the sides. The contrasting colors still appear on the laptop computer bag, but the purse now appears as separate entity, in one color. Both shoulder strap and handles are shown on the computer portion of the bag, as well as the shoulder strap of the purse.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The construction of the bag utilizes fabric for reduced weight, interlining and stiffening to provide stability and strength. All hardware is metal, zippers are plastic and purse strap is webbing, encased in the same fabric as the purse.
