Interpersonal Relationship-Indicative Jewelry

A number of bars and geometric figures are combined with a jewelry framework in order to provide a visual indication of a person's attributes such as sexual orientation and relationship status. The resulting ornamental assemblage facilitates the initiation of new interpersonal relationships in group settings by allowing persons to quickly and easily identify potential partners who share the same relationship status and orientation; time can be more efficiently spent by not attempting to court those of a different sexual orientation or who are already married. These traits, sexual orientation and relationship status, are visibly indicated by a specific quantity of bars or geometric figures, such that different integer values indicate different statuses. Different geometric figures are possible, including rings, polyhedrons, letters, and heart-shaped figures. Additional indicators can be provided for a variety of traits or statuses of a person, one example being a person's living arrangement.

Description

The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 61/907,696 filed on Nov. 22, 2013.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to a personal accessory. More specifically, the present invention is a symbolic accessory that, when worn, displays the wearer's current relationship and/or lifestyle status. In its preferred embodiment, the present invention encompasses personal symbolic ornaments that may be worn on rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings that display a wide variety of wearer relationship and/or lifestyle statuses.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A common hurdle faced by strangers during human interpersonal courtship is the mutual uncertainty surrounding the participants' relationship and/or lifestyle statuses. It is often quite difficult to muster the courage to directly approach a stranger in whom one is interested. The situation is exacerbated when a suitor is uncertain about chances of success before even approaching the stranger due to the possibility of the stranger already being in a committed relationship. These factors lead to awkward or unwanted interactions between both parties that may otherwise have been avoided. The present invention seeks to facilitate human interpersonal courtship by removing the uncertainty surrounding participants' relationship and/or lifestyle statuses. It is therefore the object of the present invention to provide means for an interested suitor to quickly assess the relationship and/or lifestyle status of the other party.

The present invention is a symbolic accessory that displays the wearer's current relationship and lifestyle status to potential suitors. The present invention generally encompasses small symbolic ornaments that may be worn on common types of jewelry including, but not limited to, rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. The jewelry pieces feature one of many symbols that each relate to a relationship and/or lifestyle status. The object of the present invention is to remove the uncertainty factor surrounding relationship and/or lifestyle status in human interpersonal courtship. A potential suitor is able to quickly assess the relationship and/or lifestyle status of the other party before deciding whether or not to initiate a conversation. It is a further object of the present invention to minimize costs and maximize marketability by means of mass production and distribution through large retailers.

The symbols of the present invention allow a virtually limitless combination of relationship and/or lifestyle statuses to be displayed. In its preferred embodiment, the present invention includes symbols for relationship statuses including single (seeking), taken (found), engaged, married, and divorced statuses, among others. Wearers that are in committed relationships but are not engaged or married are able to display their statuses as well. These relationship statuses are displayed in combination with a variety of symbols for lifestyle statuses including straight, gay, and bisexual. Other lifestyle statuses such as living arrangements are symbolically denoted as well. The symbols of the present invention are available already integrated onto jewelry pieces. Conversely, the symbols may be integrated onto existing jewelry pieces.

DETAIL DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

The present invention provides a method for creating accessories that may be donned by a person in order to facilitate courting by providing visual indicators for a person's sexual orientation and relationship status. The present invention entails selecting specific visual indicators for coupling to a vehicle (e.g. jewelry). The visual indicators are selected from a large pool which uses thematic components to indicate a person's sexual orientation and relationship status. Potentially, thematic components could be used to represent other attributes, such as living situation (e.g. alone or cohabitating) or financial status (e.g. wealthy or “sugar daddy”). The various accessories produced by means of the present invention are illustrated by means of FIG. 1-FIG. 24.

The process of creating an accessory through the present invention entails several steps and several required components. To create such an accessory, it is necessary to provide a plurality of bars 1, a plurality of geometric FIGS. 2, and a jewelry framework 3. These components are integrated into an ornamental assemblage that indicates a user's sexual orientation and relationship status. The ornamental assemblage is formed from a specific quantity of bars (selected from the plurality of bars 1) and specific quantity of geometric figures (selected from the plurality of geometric FIGS. 2). The specific configuration of the specific quantity of bars and the specific quantity of geometric figures forms the core of the ornamental assemblage, one that easily and visually indicates the sexual orientation and relationship status of the given individual. Since the present invention is set up such that the number of bars (which is assigned an integer value) corresponds to a user's sexual orientation, the sexual orientation of the user determines the specific quantity of bars that are incorporated into the ornamental assemblage. The sexual orientations represented by different quantities of bars are described in more detail at a later point.

The configuration also comprises the step of selecting a specific quantity of geometric figures from the plurality of geometric FIGS. 2 in order to represent a person's current relationship status. As with the specific quantity of bars, different integer values for the selected quantity of geometric figures corresponds to a certain attribute, in this case relationship status rather than sexual orientation. The specific quantity of geometric figures thus parallels the specific quantity of bars in that it visually and quickly conveys dating pertinent information about a user.

To incorporate the parts of the present invention into the ornamental assemblage, the specific quantity of bars are traversed through the specific quantity of geometric figures. By connecting the specific quantity of bars to the specific quantity of geometric figures, a joint piece is produced which can be coupled to the jewelry framework 3. This coupling is achieved by engaging an attachment point from the quantity of bars with an attachment mechanism of the framework 3, thus securing the ornamental assemblage to the framework 3. The attachment point itself is adjacently connected to either the specific quantity of bars or the specific quantity of geometric figures in order to allow coupling with jewelry framework 3 of said bars and figures.

As a number of sexual orientations are possible, a variable quantity of bars are used to represent a given individual's sexual orientation. To represent a person who is heterosexual, a single bar is selected as the specific quantity of bars (as seen in FIG. 1, and FIG. 2). To represent a person who is homosexual, a pair of bars is selected as the quantity bars (as seen in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4). And, to represent a person who is bisexual, a trio of bars is selected (as can be seen in part of FIG. 8). When a pair of bars or trio of bars is used (as is for the case with homosexual or bisexual orientations), the bars can be adjacently connected to each to each. More specifically, a first bar is perimetrically aligned (or tangentially aligned, in the case of a circular bar such as a rod). This alignment also means that each of the pair of bars or trio of bars is collinear with the other bars.

Paralleling the variable integers possible for the specific quantity of bars, different specific quantities of geometric figures are used to indicate various relationship statuses. In one potential embodiment, the provided pool of geometric figures are rings 21, with the number of rings 21 representing relationship status. Unlike the specific quantity of bars, the quantity of rings 21 can be set to a “0” value, i.e. no rings 21 are provided. This absence of rings 21 indicates that a person is not in a relationship, i.e. “single”.

Thematically, this can be thought of as deriving from the custom of wearing a ring on the ring finger to show a person is married; thus, a lack of a ring indicates a person is not married and a potential mate. Selecting a single ring as the specific quantity of rings 21 represents a person who is engaged. A pair of rings, meanwhile, communicates that a person is married. These possible indicators are illustrated through multiple figures, such as FIG. 9. A potential configuration has the quantity of bars traversing through the hole of each of the rings 21, such that each of the quantity of rings 21 is positioned around the quantity of bars. This configuration allows the quantity of bars to be adjacently connected to the quantity of rings 21, forming a single unit. The quantity of bars may also traverse directly through the body of each of the quantity of rings 21, resulting in the specific quantity of bars and rings 21 being coplanar.

To represent other relationship statuses, different types of geometric figures (more specifically polyhedrons) can be used. For example, to indicate that a person is a sugar daddy, a cube 23 is selected as a single polyhedron that represents the person's relationship status. Alternatively, the selected polyhedron can be a letter 22. Potential letters 22 “D” and “W” are two examples of potential selected polyhedrons. If the letter “D” is selected as the polyhedron it indicates a relationship status of divorced, whereas the letter “W” indicates that person is a widower. Illustrations of these other relationship statuses are shown in FIG. 5, FIG. 6, and FIG. 7. In configurations such as these, the quantity of bars traverse through the polyhedron, creating a single unit similar to that seen with the quantity of bars and quantity of rings 21.

To complete the accessory, the formed piece (e.g. specific quantity of bars and specific quantity of geometric figures) are incorporated into the ornamental assemblage along with a desirable jewelry framework 3. A number of frameworks 3 are possible, one example of which is various types of jewelry. Examples of some potential jewelry frameworks 3 are necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelets, and brooches.

These are just a few examples of configurations and implementations for the accessories created via the method of the present invention. Different embodiments may utilize alternative components and configurations as specific quantities of bars and specific quantities of geometric figures. Additional indicators may be provided to communicate other attributes and statuses of a user, examples of which include but are not limited to age and gender identity. Such indicators may be in addition to or in substitution of the categories (e.g. sexual orientation and relationship status) as heretofore described.

Furthermore, different geometric figures may be used in places of the rings 21 and polyhedrons as previously described. One example of a potential alternative specific geometric figure is a heart-shaped FIG. 24. Providing an open heart-shaped FIG. 24 can indicate that a person is single, that they are “open” to a relationship. Conversely, a closed heart shape can indicate that a person is in a relationship (whether simply dating, engaged, or married), and that they are not “open” to entering one at the current time. Potentially, the quantity of bars can bisect the heart-shaped FIG. 24 to indicate a person is engaged or married, e.g. “sealed off”. Continuing with this theme, such a bisected heart-shaped FIG. 24 may be broken in a section (open) to show that the person was previously in a relationship but is now widowed or divorced. Another possibility is using different combinations of geometric figures, or even providing addition copies of each set of geometric figures. By providing multiple variants of geometric figures in a given ornamental assemblage, it will be easier for other person to visually obtain information about a user of the present invention.

The bars and geometric figures that have been described thus far are only a few examples of potential symbols for representing social and lifestyle characteristics of persons. Other embodiments may incorporate further symbols as additions or substitutions to the symbols that have been described in this application. These can represent some less common situations, such as a person who is in an open relationship.

Potentially, the ornamental assemblage can be constructed in a modular. Such a construction would enable a user to easily update the ornamental assemblage to reflect their current relationship status. Other statuses or indices (e.g. sexual orientation) could also be updated by the user though in a sense many of these are less fluid than relationship status. Modular construction could also allow a user to easily interchange different jewelry frameworks 3 with the different invention, such as using a necklace as part of the ornamental assemblage one night and a bracelet as part of the ornamental assemblage the next night.

Ultimately, the present invention provides a method for creating an ornamental assemblage that visually indicates statuses and attributes of a person that are relevant to initiating interpersonal relationships.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
