Bullet Shell Casing For Smooth Bore Hunting Guns
Disclosed is a bullet shell casing for smooth bore hunting guns. The shell casing comprises of a casing made of paper with the ends coated in wax. On its surface, the casing has four twisting grooves the length of the casing. The casing enclosing the bullet is made of identical longitudinal halves having a cylindrical outer surface and an inner surface matching with the surface of the bullet or bullets. The casing has inverted cone indentions at each end of the casing. A plastic compression cone is matched with the rear indention of the casing. Compression cone and casing are fitted into a shell that is not crimped at the end of said shell. The bullet shell casing offers improved longitudinal stability, longer range, and effectiveness.
1. Field of the Invention The invention relates to solid bullet or bullets, enclosed within an envelope or casing, and is suitable for firing in smooth bore hunting guns, within a range of up to 75 meters.
2. Description of the Related Art
The prevailing development in firing a solid bullet with a smooth bore shotgun has been to cast a hollow bullet, heavier on the leading end with twisting grooves on the outside. As the bullet is passing through the barrel, the bullet hits the sides of the barrel, and becomes deformed with a loss of accuracy. The main disadvantages of the prior art solutions over the claimed invention are poor internal and external ballistic characteristics thereof, i.e. increased aerodynamic resistance due to a low flight speed of the ammunition (bullet) and lack of longitudinal stability (i.e. the ammunition longitudinal axis misaligns with the direction of its flight resulting in somersaulting so that the ammunition reaches the target at an angle). All that leads to an insufficiently lasting conservation of the kinetic energy which is particularly required for killing big animals. In addition, the above solutions are characterized by an insufficient effectiveness as the bullet passes through the gun bore at firing because no sealing required at firing is ensured to prevent a powder gas blow-back. All that leads to insufficient stopping effect, low destructive ability.
The other shell option for hunters is the use of buckshot. Buckshot are round balls of lead, available in different sizes, loaded in a cup called the wad. After the wad leaves the barrel the wad opens up, brakes, and the buckshot continues to the target. The disadvantage of buckshot is that after the shot has exited the barrel, the buck shot begins to spread apart. At longer ranges, only two or three pellets may strike the target. The buckshot does not have the accuracy, mass or kinetic energy to be effective at distances over 40 meters.
It is therefore an object of the invention to eliminate the above disadvantages. The technical effect of the invention consists in improving the external ballistics with longer range, accuracy, and effectiveness.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThe above object and the technical effect are achieved by providing a bullet shell casing for smooth bore hunting guns. The said shell casing comprises of a casing made of paper with the ends coated with wax. On said casing's surface, the casing has four twisting grooves 4 mm wide and 2 mm deep are arranged in a cross pattern at the nose of said casing. Said grooves begin at the nose of said casing in a spiral to end at the rear of said casing, directly below the start of the next groove. The casing enclosing the bullet is made of identical longitudinal halves having a cylindrical outer surface and an inner surface matching with the surface of the bullet or bullets. The said casing is molded to fit two 50. Caliber round ball, or one 50. Caliber conical bullet for a 12 gauge smooth bore shotgun. The said casing has 5 mm inverted cone indentions at each end. A plastic compression cone is matched with the rear indention of said casing. Said casing and compression cone are fitted into a shell that is smooth and not crimped at the end of said shell.
The main gauge for the hunting guns is 12, although the invention can be altered for use with other gauges as well. In contrast to the prior art bullet designs, the proposed bullet casing comprises of four components: a compression cone, an upper and lower halves of an enclosing envelope, and the bullet or bullets.
The proposed bullet shell casing providing a spin on the bullets is advantageous for shooting within a range of up to 75 meters. The invention is superior to the prior art both in terms of its stopping effect and accuracy, and both when shooting in the clear field.

The proposed bullet casing will enable hunters, with smooth bore shotguns, to have more flexibility to hunt in fields. The shell casing provides the rotation on the bullets to improve accuracy needed for shots over 40 meters. It provides a heaver, more effective bullet.
After the gun powder in the shell is ignited, the plastic compression cone prevents the expanding gases from bypassing the casing through the grooves. The compression cone pushes out the casing allowing said casing to rotate upon it.
The casing, as it is being pushed through the barrel, begins to twist due to friction and air pressure moving through the grooves. After the casing leaves the barrel, air is caught by the conical indentions at the front of the envelope, separating the two halves. Because of higher mass, the bullet or bullets continue to the target with the rotation infused to the bullet providing accuracy.
In the case of a 12 gauge shotgun, two 50. caliber round balls can be enclosed in the casing, or a single conical shaped bullet. Two 50. caliber round balls would have more knock down power than a single bullet, with an increase of range compared to buckshot, and an improved accuracy over the prior rifled bullets. As the size of the shotgun gauges decrease, so can the size of the bullets.
The casing and compression cone are fitted into a shell that is smooth and not crimped at the end of the shell. Not crimping the shell prevents the casing from being distorted by the shell as the casing is pushed from the shell.
Claims
1. A bullet shell casing for hunting guns with smooth bores, comprising: a cylindrical bullet casing defined by a bullet enclosed by an casing, said casing being made of paper having identical longitudinal halves having a cylindrical outer surface and an inner surface matching in contour with said side surface of said bullet or bullets. Said casing ends are coated with wax. Said casing having four grooves on said side surface, said grooves 4 mm wide and 2 mm deep are arranged in a cross pattern at the nose of said envelope. Said grooves twist from the nose left to right of said casing to end directly below the start of the next groove. Said nose portion of said casing has a 5 mm conical indention. The rear of said casing has a 5 mm conical indention to which a plastic compression cone is matched. Said compression cone and casing are fitted into a shell that is smooth and not crimped at the end of said shell.
2. The bullet shell casing according to claim 1, wherein said casing being made of paper with identical longitudinal halves having a cylindrical outer surface and an inner surface matching in contour with said side surface of said bullet or bullets.
3. The bullet shell casing ends are coated with wax.
4. The bullet shell casing according to claim 1, wherein said grooves are made spiral the length of said casing. Said grooves 4 mm wide and 2 mm deep are arranged in a cross pattern at the nose of said casing. Said grooves begin at the nose of said casing in a spiral the length of said casing to end at the rear, directly below the start of the next groove.
5. The bullet shell casing according to claim 1, wherein said casing has inverted 5 mm conical indentions at each end of said casing.
6. The bullet shell casing according to claim 1, wherein a plastic compression cone is butted into the rear conical indention of said casing.
7. A bullet shell casing for hunting guns with smooth bores. The said shell casing comprises of a casing made of paper having a light weight. On said casing's surface, the casing has four twisting grooves 4 mm wide and 2 mm deep are arranged in a cross pattern at the nose of said casing. Said grooves begin at the nose of said casing in a spiral to end at the rear of said casing, directly below the start of the next groove. The casing enclosing the bullet is made of paper with identical longitudinal halves having a cylindrical outer surface and an inner surface matching with the surface of the bullet or bullets. The said casing is molded to fit two 50. Caliber round ball, or one 50. Caliber conical bullet for a 12 gauge smooth bore shotgun. The said casing has 5 mm inverted cone indentions at each end. A plastic compression cone is matched with the rear indention of said casing. Said casing and compression cone are fitted into a shell that is smooth and not crimped at the end of said shell.
