Silkweight High Wicking Circular Scarf

A circular scarf for the neck area, made of ultra light/silkweight high wicking fabric, which is used in work, leisure, and other non-athletic activities by perimenopausal and menopausal women, as well as women living or traveling in hot climates, those with medical conditions which result in excessive perspiration, or in other non-athletic situation in which they experience excessive perspiration. The short ends of the rectangular cut ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking fabric are connected together through stitching or by other means to create the circular scarf design.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

There is nothing unusual about wicking fabrics and scarves when considered separately. What is unique is the fabrication of scarves using high wicking fabrics that are intended to address a specific condition that affect most women at a point in life—perimenopause and menopause. The following patents utilize wicking fabrics for moisture absorption, but none use it for the unique purpose herein described in this patent application:

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Circle scarves have primarily taken the form of an indoor or outerwear fashion accessory and have varied in terms of the design, color, and type of fabric used in its construction, as well as variations in scarf length and width. “Hot flashes” are one of the most common albeit most uncomfortable, unpredictable, and often “public” symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, quickly raising the body temperature of the perimenopausal/menopausal woman without warning and is often accompanied by profuse perspiration. This can be a source of discomfort, embarrassment, and distraction for the woman who is experiencing this, and can create challenges to functioning optimally at such times in one's work and personal life.

Although this invention primarily targets women experiencing perimenopause or menopause, it can also have utility for women living or traveling in hot climates, those with medical conditions which result in excessive perspiration, or women in other non-athletic situations in which they experience excessive perspiration. While the scarf's circular design will have the outward appearance of a fashion accessory, its construction from silkweight high wicking fabric will allow the scarf to wick perspiration away from the wearer's neck, thus leaving the neck area drier and resulting in a feeling of increased overall coolness.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a circle scarf which is constructed with ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking fabric to be used in work, leisure, and other non-athletic settings. The fabric is washable, quick drying, and may also offer sun protection. Although the scarf has been particularly designed to address “hot flashes” experienced by perimenopausal/menopausal women, and secondarily for women experiencing high perspiration due to medical conditions or hot climates, it also can be worn by any woman as a fashion accessory, particularly in the summer.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

It is an advantage of the present invention that it provides an ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking circle scarf which can provide cooling relief for women experiencing “hot flashes” and other non-athletic conditions which can result in excessive perspiration.

Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides an ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking circle scarf which will allow the wearer improved functioning in work and leisure settings, as they will be physically more comfortable and emotionally less distracted, self-conscious, or embarrassed about the excessive perspiration that they are experiencing.

Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides an ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking circle scarf which has the outward appearance of a fashion accessory, thereby allowing the wearer to more discretely address excessive perspiration that she is experiencing related to perimenopausal/menopausal “hot flashes” or other causes.

Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides an ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking circle scarf which would be available in a variety of circumference lengths, thereby making it suitable for all body types ranging from someone who is smaller in build to women who are full figured.

Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides an ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking circle scarf which is washable, and quick drying.

Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides an ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking circle scarf with a variety of tying and closure configurations.

Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides an ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking circle scarf that can be efficiently and economically mass produced, and thus easily affordable for women.

Claims

1. a circle scarf for the neck area of the wearer, which is used in work and leisure non-athletic activities, comprising:

a) a neck scarf in the shape of a circle, which is used by women in work, leisure, and other non-athletic activities;
b) a circle scarf made of ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking fabric;
c) a circle scarf in which the short ends of the rectangular cut ultra lightweight/silkweight fabric are connected together to create the circular scarf design;
d) a circle scarf which allows the wearer to create a variety of tying styles around the wearer's neck.

2. An ultra lightweight/silkweight circle scarf in accordance with claim 1, wherein said circle scarf has an overall length/circumference measurement in the range of 60 inches to 86 inches and an overall width measurement in the range of 13 inches to 17 inches.

3. An ultra lightweight/silkweight circle scarf in accordance with claim 1 wherein said circle scarf is made of ultra light weight/silkweight high wicking fabric consisting of a patterned or solid fabric of any color.

4. An ultra lightweight/silkweight circle scarf in accordance with claim 1, wherein the short ends of said circle scarf are attached through overlock, purl, or French seam stitching.

An ultra lightweight/silkweight circle scarf in accordance with claim 1, wherein said short ends of the rectangular cut ultra lightweight/silkweight short ends may alternatively be attached to create the circular scarf design, through the use of buttons, hook and loop fastener tabs, or hooks and eyes, allowing the user to wear the scarf as a circle scarf or as a more traditional rectangular scarf while still receiving the cooling properties of the wicking fabric.

6. An ultra lightweight/silkweight circle scarf in accordance with claim 1, wherein said long edges of the rectangular cut ultra lightweight/silkweight short ends are finished through the use of overlock, purl, or rolled hem stitching.

7. An ultra lightweight/silkweight circle scarf in accordance with claim 1, wherein said ultra lightweight/silkweight high wicking fabric used in the construction of the circle scarf is washable and quick drying. The fabric used may also have sun protection properties.

8. An ultra lightweight/silkweight circle scarf in accordance with claim 1 wherein while said circle scarf will have the outward appearance of a fashion accessory, the fabric from which it is constructed will provide drying and cooling relief for the wearer (e.g. women experiencing perimenopausal or menopausal “hot flashes”).

9. The fabric of the ultra lightweight/silkweight scarf of claim 1 can be of a patterned design or a solid color.
