Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a hanging hook, and more particularly to a hanging hook capable of being adjustably mounted on objects with two parallel sides and different thickness values between the parallel sides and on bevel-sided objects.

2. Description of the Related Art

Hanging hooks are universally versatile hardware for hanging various things like clothes, hats, towels, picture frames and the like on objects with two parallel sides and therefore become useful in people's daily life for air-drying the hung things or allowing easy access to the hung things.

Among the hanging hooks, one type of hanging hooks can be mounted on top edges of walls or doors with two parallel sides or can be removed from the walls or doors without causing damage to the walls or doors. Usually, such type of hanging hooks is integrally formed as a single part and each hanging hook has a hook portion, a leg portion and a connection portion formed between the hook portion and the leg portion. When such type of hanging hooks is mounted on a wall with two parallel sides, for example, a cubical wall, the hook portion and the leg portion are attached on two parallel sides of the cubical wall and the connection portion is placed on a top edge of the wall connecting the two parallel sides for users to suspend a thing on the hook portion.

However, due to the integrally-formed nature, the foregoing type of hanging hooks is only tailored to walls with two parallel sides and a specific thickness. Accordingly, the use of such type of hanging hooks is thus inflexible and limited.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An objective of the present invention is to provide a hanging hook capable of being adjustably mounted on objects with two parallel sides and different thickness values between the parallel sides and on bevel-sided objects.

To achieve the foregoing objective, the hanging hook has a leg portion, a hook portion and a fastening member.

The leg portion is L-shaped and has a horizontal section and a vertical section.

The horizontal section has two ends.

The vertical section is formed on and perpendicularly extends downwards from one of the two ends of the horizontal section.

The hook portion has a stacking section and a hook section.

The stacking section is stacked on a top of the horizontal section of the leg portion and has two ends and a thickness-adjusting slot.

The thickness-adjusting slot is elongated and is longitudinally formed through the stacking section and has a proximal end and a distal end.

The hook section is formed on and perpendicularly extends downwards from one of the two ends of the stacking section, and is adjacent to the proximal end of the thickness-adjusting slot and distal to the distal end of the thickness-adjusting slot. A lower end of the hook section takes the form of a hook.

The fastening member is mounted through the thickness-adjusting slot to position the leg portion and the hook portion selectively with respect to each other.

When the hook portion aligns with the leg portion and the hook portion is selectively adjusted to keep a desired distance apart from the leg portion, the fastening member is mounted through the hook portion and the leg portion of the hanging hook for the hanging hook to be mounted on parallel-sided objects with different thickness values. When the hook portion is tilted with respect to the leg portion and the hook portion is adjusted to keep a distance apart from the leg portion, the fastening member is mounted through the hook portion and the leg portion of the hanging hook for the hanging hook to be mounted on bevel-sided objects with different included angles. Accordingly, the hanging hook can be extensively applied to mounting occasions on different objects.

Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

With reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, a hanging hook in accordance with the present invention has a leg portion 10, a hook portion 20 and a fastening member 30.

The leg portion 10 is L-shaped and has a horizontal section 11 and a vertical section 12. The horizontal section 11 has two ends. The vertical section 12 is formed on and perpendicularly extends downwards from one of the two ends of the horizontal section 11.

The hook portion 20 has a stacking section 21 and a hook section 22. The stacking section 21 is stacked on a top of the horizontal section 11 of the leg portion 10, and has two ends and a thickness-adjusting slot 211. The thickness-adjusting slot 211 is elongated and is longitudinally formed through the stacking section 21, and has a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end is adjacent to the hook section 22, and the distal end is distal to the hook section 22. The hook section 22 is formed on and perpendicularly extends downwards from one of the two ends of the stacking section 21. A lower end of the hook section 22 takes the form of a hook.

The fastening member 30 serves to movably fasten the leg portion 10 and the hook portion 20 through the thickness-adjusting slot 211, and has a stud 301, a washer 302 and a nut 303. The stud 301 is threaded, is formed on and protrudes upwards from the top of the horizontal section 11 of the leg portion 10, and movably penetrates through the thickness-adjusting slot 211 of the stacking section 21 of the hook portion 20. The washer 302 is stacked on the thickness-adjusting slot 211 and a top of the stacking section 21 of the hook portion 20 for the stud 301 to penetrate through the washer 302. The nut 303 is mounted on the washer 302 to engage the stud 301. The nut 303 may be a wing nut for easy turning and fastening of the nut 303.

With reference to FIGS. 1 and 3, in consideration of suspending the hanging hook on a thick object with two parallel sides, the hanging hook is adjusted by stacking the stacking section 21 of the hook portion 20 on the horizontal section 11 of the leg portion 10 with the horizontal section 11 of the leg portion 10 at a position closer to the hook section 22 of the hook portion 20 than a position of the vertical section 12 of the leg portion 10 and with the stud 301 on the leg portion 10 sequentially penetrating through the thickness-adjusting slot 211 and the washer 302 of the fastening member 30, and by aligning the hook portion 20 with the horizontal section 11, moving the stud 301 within the thickness-adjusting slot 211 to a desired position in a direction approaching the distal end of the thickness-adjusting slot 211, and using the nut 303 of the fastening member 30 to tightly engage the stud 301 such that a distance between the vertical section 12 of the leg portion 10 and the hook section 22 of hook portion 20 matches the thickness between the two parallel sides of the object and is appropriate for the hanging hook to be mounted on the object.

With reference to FIG. 4, in consideration of suspending the hanging hook on a thin object with two parallel sides, the hanging hook is adjusted by stacking the stacking section 21 of the hook portion 20 on the horizontal section 11 of the leg portion 10 with the vertical section 12 of the leg portion 10 at a position closer to the hook section 22 of the hook portion 20 than a position of the horizontal section 11 of the leg portion 10 and with the stud 301 on the leg portion 10 sequentially penetrating through the thickness-adjusting slot 211 and the washer 302 of the fastening member 30, and by aligning the hook portion 20 with the horizontal section 11, moving the stud 301 within the thickness-adjusting slot 211 to a desired position in a direction approaching the proximal end of the thickness-adjusting slot 211, and using the nut 303 of the fastening member 30 to tightly engage the stud 301 such that a distance between the vertical section 12 of the leg portion 10 and the hook section 22 of hook portion 20 matches the thickness between the two parallel sides of the object and is appropriate for the hanging hook to be mounted on the object.

With reference to FIGS. 5 and 6, in consideration of suspending the hanging hook on a thin object with two non-parallel sides having an included angle between them, the hanging hook is adjusted by stacking the stacking section 21 of the hook portion 20 on the horizontal section 11 of the leg portion 10 with the horizontal section 11 of the leg portion 10 at a position closer to the hook section 22 of the hook portion 20 than a position of the vertical section 12 of the leg portion 10 as shown in FIG. 5, when the included angle of the two non-parallel sides is relatively large, or, with the vertical section 12 of the leg portion 10 at a position closer to the hook section 22 of the hook portion 20 than a position of the horizontal section 11 of the leg portion 10, when the included angle of the two non-parallel sides is relatively small, and with the stud 301 on the leg portion 10 sequentially penetrating through the thickness-adjusting slot 211 and the washer 302 of the fastening member 30, and by tilting the hook portion 20 with respect to the leg portion 10 or tilting the leg portion 10 with respect to the hook portion 20 for an included angle between the hook section 22 of the hook portion 20 and the vertical section 12 of the leg portion 10 to be equal to the included angle between the two non-parallel sides of the object, and using the nut 303 of the fastening member 30 to tightly engage the stud 301 so as to keep an included angle between the hook section 22 of the hook portion 20 and the vertical section 12 of the leg portion 10 to be equal to the included angle between the two non-parallel sides of the object and being appropriate for the hanging hook to be mounted on the object.
