Carrier plate for flap discs

- JOBRA METALL GMBH

A carrier plate for flap discs includes an outer flange embodied thereon for securing grinding flaps, and a domed inner partembodied integrally with the outer flange. That part has, for mounting on the external thread of the shaft of a drive machine, a hub having an internal thread, the beginning of whose thread is embodied as a conically outwardly expanded seating surface for a centering projection of an entraining disc, for the bracing of which on the domed inner part of the carrier plate an elastic intermediate element is provided. The elastic intermediate element includes a ring, surrounding the seating surface, that is fixedly connected to the domed inner part.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates to a carrier plate for flap discs.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A carrier plate of this kind is known from DE 20 2012 100 332 U1. The entraining disc, caused to rotate by the shaft of a drive machine, is braced with a cylindrical centering projection on the seating surface, formed by the beginning of the hub thread and conically expanded outward, of the carrier plate. This enables, with simple means, relative angular motions within certain limits between the entraining disc and the carrier plate, and thus automatic centering of the carrier plate. An elastic intermediate ring, which damps oscillations and vibrations during operation, is inserted between the entraining disc and the carrier plate. This intermediate ring is embodied so that it can be positively connected to the entraining disc, with the result that it forms one unit with the entraining disc.

A similarly embodied entraining disc is known from DE 20 2012 100 329.

Although these approaches have proven successful in practical use, it has nevertheless become evident that the user not infrequently removes the intermediate ring, for example for cleaning purposes. Associated with this is the disadvantage that when the flap disc is used again, the intermediate ring is not immediately available again or in fact becomes lost. The result of this is that it is not used again for the next utilization instance.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The object on which the invention is based is that of creating a remedy, and configuring the elastic intermediate element in such a way that it is necessarily and definitely available each time the flap disc is used.

In order to achieve this object, according to the invention provision is made that the elastic intermediate element is made up of a ring, surrounding the seating surface for the centering projection of the entraining disc, that is fixedly connected to the domed inner part of the carrier plate. In a refinement of the invention a ring of this kind, which is preferably made of an elastic plastic, can be fixedly attached to the surface of the carrier plate by overmolding the elastic material or by adhesive bonding.

With this approach it is no longer the user's choice whether or not to use the elastic intermediate element, since it is an integral component of the carrier plate and does not need to be mounted on a commercially usual entraining disc; this additionally simplifies utilization.

The elastic ring can be embodied in the manner of an O-ring, but it can also comprise cutouts on the circumference so that the entraining disc is braced in a stable position only at at least three ring segments.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The invention is explained below with reference to an exemplifying embodiment that is depicted in the drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is a schematic sectional view of the head of a grinding machine having a grinding disc according to the invention mounted on its drive shaft;

FIG. 2 is a section through the carrier plate of FIG. 1; and

FIG. 3 is a view of a commercially usual entraining disc for nonrotatably connecting the carrier plate to the drive shaft.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

FIG. 1 schematically depicts head 10 of a drive machine 12 of a grinding machine, which has a shaft 14 for driving a grinding disc 16. Grinding disc 16 is made up of a carrier plate 18 having an annular outer flange 20 that is fitted with grinding flaps 22. Outer flange 20 is embodied integrally, via a conical annular region 24, with a dome-shaped inner part 26 from which a hub 28 having an internal thread 30 protrudes inward, so that carrier plate 18 can be screwed onto external thread 32 of shaft 14.

As FIGS. 1 and 2 show, the beginning of internal thread 30 of hub 28 is embodied as an outwardly conically expanded seating surface 34. Braced against this, as FIG. 1 further shows, is an annular centering projection 36 that protrudes in known fashion from an entraining disc 38 that is added in commercially usual fashion to every grinding machine.

It is also evident from FIG. 1 that entraining disc 38 is braced on conical inner part 26 via an elastic intermediate element 40 that is embodied as a ring 42. As can be gathered from FIG. 2, the elastic material of ring 42 is applied onto the flat outer surface 44 of inner part 26 and connected fixedly thereto. The elastic material of ring 42 can be overmolded or adhesively bonded in order to create this connection.

Ring 42 centeredly surrounds the conically outwardly expanded seating surface 34. Alternatively, provision can be made to embody ring 42 not as a continuous intermediate element in the manner of an O-ring, but rather as a component having at least three cutouts that are distributed over the circumference, so that with this variant as well, a defined bracing between entraining disc 38 and carrier plate 18 is still ensured.
