Description

The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 61/970,752 filed on Mar. 26, 2014.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally to cosmetics. More specifically, the present invention is a multifunctional cosmetic applicator that condenses four key makeup products into one compacted kit.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Cosmetics (colloquially known as makeup or make-up) are care substances used to enhance the appearance or odor of the human body. Often, people require multiple different cosmetics to enhance the appearance or odor of one or more features of the body. This is especially the case with cosmetics that come in different colors. While relying on multiple products may not be problematic in a home environment, it can become a hassle while on-the-go. In such situations, people are often limited in how many products they can carry at a given time.

Accordingly, there is a present need for an apparatus that combines the functions of multiple cosmetics into one tool. The present invention is the first cosmetic condensing four key makeup products in one compacted cylindrical kit. There are other inventions out there that contain lipstick and lip-gloss or pressed powder and mirror, four different brushes for eye brow or four different lip-gloss in one cylindrical detachable container. However after doing some research there is no invention currently existing with these four products in one compacted cylindrical design.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

With reference to FIGS. 1-4, the present invention is a multifunctional cosmetic applicator that combines the functions of multiple cosmetic products into a compact tool. The present invention comprises a tubular body 1, a lip makeup dispenser 7, a wide makeup applicator 6, a second retraction mechanism 17, a first cap 24, a second cap 28, and a makeup container 18. The tubular body 1 acts as a housing for a number of components. In the preferred embodiment, the tubular body 1 is cylindrical in shape. The tubular body 1 comprises a first open end 2 and a second open end 3. The lip makeup dispenser 7 is mounted into the first open end 2 of the tubular body 1 and is used to hold, dispense, and apply makeup used on the lips. The wide makeup applicator 6 is telescopically mounted into the second open end 3 of the tubular body 1 by the second retraction mechanism 17. The wide makeup applicator 6 is used to collect makeup from the makeup container 18 and administer said makeup to the user's body. The second retraction mechanism 17 allows the user to extend or retract the wide makeup applicator 6 such that makeup may be applied to the user's body or such that the wide makeup applicator 6 may be stored inside the tubular body 1. The first cap 24 is attached adjacent to the first open end 2 about the lip makeup dispenser 7. The first cap 24 is used to cover the lip makeup dispenser 7 when the lip makeup dispenser 7 is not in use. This is done to prevent makeup from inadvertently spilling or creating a mess. The second cap 28 is attached adjacent to the second open end 3 about the wide makeup applicator 6. The second cap 28 is used to cover the wide makeup applicator 6 when the wide makeup applicator 6 is in a retracted position. This is done to prevent makeup from soiling nearby objects, garments, or surfaces. The makeup container 18 is mounted adjacent to the second cap 28, opposite the tubular body 1. The makeup container 18 provides a means of storing makeup which may be applied to the user's face or body by the wide makeup applicator 6.

In a first embodiment of the present invention, the lip makeup dispenser 7 comprises a lipstick 8 and a first retraction mechanism 9, while the first cap 24 comprises a first base 25 and a first opening 26. The lipstick 8 is telescopically mounted into the first open end 2 by the first retraction mechanism 9. This allows the lipstick 8 to be extended during use or retracted for easy storage. The lipstick 8 is a form of makeup which is used to alter the appearance of the user's lips. In the preferred embodiment, the first cap 24 fits over the first open end 2 of the tubular body 1 such that the lipstick 8 is oriented normal to the first base 25 and is encircled by the first opening 26.

In the first embodiment, the first retraction mechanism 9 and the second retraction mechanism 17 are mechanically integrated with each other. In reference to FIGS. 1-10 and FIG. 20, the tubular body 1 comprises a first section 4 and a second section 5, while the first retraction mechanism 9 and the second retraction mechanism 17 comprise an annular dial 10, a male threaded rod 12, a first slide 13, a second slide 14, a first track 15, and a second track 16. The annular dial 10 is used to control the movement of the male threaded rod 12. The annular dial 10 further comprises a female threaded inner surface 11. The first section 4 of the tubular body 1 is rotationally and adjacently connected to the annular dial 10. The second section 5 is rotationally and adjacently connected to the annular dial 10, opposite to the first section 4. Both the first section 4 and the second section 5 are used to cover the components of the first retraction mechanism 9 and the second retraction mechanism 17. The first section 4, the annular dial 10, and the second section 5 are concentrically positioned to each other. The female threaded inner surface 11 is laterally engaged to the male threaded rod 12. This allows the male threaded rod 12 to move laterally when the annular dial 10 is rotated.

The first slide 13 is adjacently connected to the male threaded rod 12 and is positioned within the first section 4. The first slide 13 is connected to the lipstick 8 such that the lipstick 8 may be extended or retracted when the annular dial 10 is rotated. The first track 15 is internally connected along the first section 4 and the first slide 13 is slidably engaged to the first section 4 by the first track 15. This arrangement prevents the male threaded rod 12 from rotating, such that the male threaded rod 12 is able to move laterally when the annular dial 10 is rotated. The second slide 14 is adjacently connected to the male threaded rod 12, opposite the first slide 13 and is positioned within the second section 5. The second slide 14 is attached to the wide makeup applicator 6 such that the wide makeup applicator 6 moves with the male threaded rod 12 when the annular dial 10 is rotated. The second track 16 is internally connected along the second section 5 and the second slide 14 is slidably engaged to the second section 5 by the second track 16. This arrangement prevents the male threaded rod 12 from rotating, such that the male threaded rod 12 is able to move laterally when the annular dial 10 is rotated. In the preferred embodiment, the tubular body 1 is cylindrical in shape; however, in alternative embodiments, the tubular body 1 may be of any other shape. For shapes which are rectangular or non-circular in shape, the geometry of the tubular body 1 may act as the first track 15 and the second track 16. For example, if the tubular body 1 were rectangular in shape, the corners of the tubular body 1 would prevent the first slide 13 and the second slide 14 from rotating, but would allow the first slide 13 and second slide 14 to move laterally.

In reference to FIGS. 11-19, in an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the lip makeup dispenser 7 comprises a makeup receptacle 31. In this embodiment, the makeup receptacle 31 is used to store liquid makeup products. The makeup receptacle 31 comprises a receptacle rim 32, a receptacle lateral portion 33, and a receptacle base 34. The receptacle base 34 is mounted into the first open end 2 of the tubular body 1. The receptacle lateral portion 33 is perpendicularly and perimetrically connected to the receptacle base 34. The receptacle rim 32 is perimetrically positioned about the receptacle lateral portion 33, opposite the receptacle base 34.

In the alternative embodiment, the lip makeup dispenser 7 further comprises a fine makeup applicator 27. Moreover, the first cap 24 comprises the first base 25 and the first opening 26. The fine makeup applicator 27 is connected adjacent and normal to the first base 25. The fine makeup applicator 27 is used to collect lip gloss or other makeup liquids contained in the makeup receptacle 31 and apply said liquids to the user's body. The receptacle lateral portion 33 is encircled by the first opening 26. With this alignment, the fine makeup applicator 27 traverses into the first makeup receptacle 31, through the receptacle rim 32. Moreover, the first cap 24 covers the makeup receptacle 31 such that makeup is unable to spill out from the makeup receptacle 31.

In the alternative embodiment, because the makeup receptacle 31 does not need to be expanded or retracted, only the second retraction mechanism 17 is needed. In reference to FIGS. 11-20, the tubular body 1 comprises the second section 5. The second retraction mechanism 17 comprises the annular dial 10, the male threaded rod 12, the second slide 14, and the second track 16. The annular dial 10 further comprises the female threaded inner surface 11. The second section 5 is rotationally and adjacently connected to the annular dial 10. The second section 5 is used to cover the components of the second retraction mechanism 17. The annular dial 10, and the second section 5 are concentrically positioned to each other. The female threaded inner surface 11 is laterally engaged to the male threaded rod 12. This allows the male threaded rod 12 to move laterally when the annular dial 10 is rotated.

The second slide 14 is adjacently connected to the male threaded rod 12 and is positioned within the second section 5.

The second cap 28 comprises a second base 29 and a second opening 30. The second cap 28 is used to cover the second open end 3 of the tubular body 1, such that no makeup present on the wide makeup applicator 6 soils any nearby objects, garments, or surfaces. The wide makeup applicator 6 traverses through the second opening 30 and into the second cap 28. The second cap 28 is attached adjacent to the tubular body 1, opposite to the first open end 2. In the preferred embodiment, the wide makeup applicator 6 is a brush; however, sponge, foam, or any other type applicator may be used in alternative embodiments.

The makeup container 18 comprises a lid 22, a mirror 23, a container rim 19, a container lateral portion 20, and a container base 21. The makeup container 18 is used to store makeup products which may be applied to the user's body via the wide makeup applicator 6. The container base 21 is perpendicularly and perimetrically connected to the container lateral portion 20. The container rim 19 is perimetrically connected to the container lateral portion 20 opposite the container base 21. The lid 22 is hingedly connected to the container rim 19. The lid 22 may be opened to access makeup inside the makeup container 18. The mirror 23 is connected across the lid 22, adjacent to the container rim 21. When the lid 22 is opened, the user is able to use the minor 23 to view the area in which makeup is being applied.

The present invention also provides a means of holding eyeliner, lip liner, or any other type of makeup pencil. In reference to FIGS. 1-19 and FIG. 21, the present invention further comprises a pencil-receiving jacket 35, a peg 36, a train 37, and an elongated groove 38. The elongated groove 38 comprises a narrow track portion 39 and a wide release portion 40. The peg 36 is laterally connected to the pencil-receiving jacket 35. The pencil-receiving jacket 35 is sized to hold a makeup pencil which may be secured to the present invention. The train 37 is connected adjacent to the peg 36, opposite to the pencil-receiving jacket 35. This is best seen in FIG. 21. The peg 36 and the train 37 interact with the elongated groove 38 to secure the pencil-receiving jacket 35 to the tubular body 1. The elongated groove 38 laterally traverses into the tubular body 1 and is positioned along the tubular body 1. The train 37 is slidably engaged to the elongated groove 38 by the narrow track portion 39. The train 37 is releasably engaged to the elongated groove 38 by the wide release portion 40. This allows the user to easily lock and unlock the two pieces. When attaching a pencil to the present invention, the pencil is placed into the pencil-receiving jacket 35 and the train 37 is inserted into the wide release portion 40. The train 37 is secured by being slid into the narrow track portion 39.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
