CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application No. 61/973,520, filed 1 Apr. 2014, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to display systems and, more particularly, a decorative banner adapted to be adorned by a plurality of interchangeable display objects.

Currently, there are millions of people throughout the world who celebrate the holiday of Christmas by, among other things, bringing a Christmas tree, usually an evergreen coniferous tree, into their residence. Traditionally, the Christmas tree is decorated with ornaments, garland, tinsel, holiday cards and the like.

Unfortunately, many people do not have enough living space to dedicate to a full-sized real or artificial Christmas tree, not to mention even more limited work space to celebrate. Additionally, full-sized real trees may require tedious work to maintain and keep alive during the long holiday season. And full-sized artificial trees require year-round storage space.

As can be seen, there is a need for a space-friendly Display system adapted for small living and working spaces that still affords users the opportunity to adorn the display as one would a full-sized Christmas tree, nativity scene or the like.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a display system includes a display sheet incorporating a display image thereon; at least one display object; and at least one removable fastener, wherein each display object is removably fastened to the display sheet by the at least one removable fastener.

In another aspect of the present invention a display system provides a display sheet incorporating a display image thereon; a pocket disposed along a portion of the periphery of the display sheet; a hanging fastener; a hanging rod connected to the hanging fastener, wherein the hanging rod is dimensioned and adapted to slide into the pocket; at least one removable fastener, wherein each removable fastener includes: a cooperating magnetic pair configured to magnetically sandwich a portion of the display sheet; and a fastener loop; and at least one display object, wherein a portion of each display object is adapted to removably secure to the fastener loop.

These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an exemplary embodiment of the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a detail front perspective view of an exemplary embodiment of a removable fastener of the present invention;

FIG. 3 is a detail rear perspective view of an exemplary embodiment of the removable fastener of the present invention;

FIG. 4 is a section detail view of an exemplary embodiment of a hanging support of the present invention, taken along line 4-4 in FIG. 1; and

FIG. 5 is a section detail view of an exemplary embodiment of the removable fastener of the present invention, taken along line 5-5 in FIG. 2.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a display system adapted to be adorned by a plurality of interchangeable display objects. The display system may include a display sheet and a plurality of removable fasteners. The display sheet may include a display image, motif, message or the like incorporated thereon. The display sheet may be adapted to be hung from a vertical support. The plurality of removable fasteners may be adapted to removably secure at least one display object to the display sheet so that the display objects can be arranged as desired or demanded.

Referring now to FIGS. 1 through 5, the present invention may include a display system 100. The display system 100 may include a display sheet 10 and a plurality of removable fasteners 40. The display sheet 10 may include a display image 12 incorporated thereon. The display image 12 may include visuals, motifs, messages or the like incorporated, sewn and/or printed thereon, such as a holiday image, for example a Christmas motif, and/or Christmas message. In certain embodiments, the display image 12 and the at least one display object 22 may be Christmas themed.

The display sheet 10 may include a first edge that forms a pocket 14 along at least a portion thereof, for example along a portion of the periphery of the display sheet 10. The pocket 14 may be adapted to slidably receive a hanging rod 16. The hanging rod 16 may be attached to a hanging fastener 18, including but not limited to, string so that the display sheet 10 may be hung, as illustrated in FIG. 1 from a support 20, such as a door, wall and the like.

The plurality of removable fasteners 40 may include a plurality of cooperating magnet pairs 32, 34 made of magnetic material. The plurality of cooperating magnet pairs 32, 34 may be adapted to produce opposing, attracted magnetic forces. The magnetic pairs 32, 34 may be separable and adapted to magnetically connect through opposing sides of the display sheet 10. As such, the display sheet 10 may be made of material adapted to allow magnetic forces top pass through, without substantial distortion. The plurality of magnetic pairs 32, 34 may be removably secured to the display sheet 10 by having a portion of the display sheet 10 and a portion of a display object 22 magnetically sandwiched between the pair of magnets 32, 34.

In certain embodiments, the plurality of removable fasteners 40 may provide a fastener base 28 generally perpendicularly joined to a fastener loop 30, wherein the fastener loop 30 may be dimensioned and adapted to removably secure a portion of the display object 24, as illustrated in FIGS. 2, 3, and 5. The portion of the display object 24 may be a hook, tab or the like. The at least one display object may include baubles, garland, tinsel, and other holiday object used to festoon to a Christmas tree, for example.

In certain embodiments, the plurality of removable fasteners 40 may be any fastener known in the art for fastening or removably securing one object to another including, for example, standard push-button snaps, Velcro-type fasteners, adhesive substances, combinations thereof, and the like.

A method of using the present invention may include the following. The display system 100 disclosed above may be provided. A user may hang the display sheet 10 from the vertical support 20. Then the user may adorn the display sheet 10 with a plurality of display objects 22 by using the plurality of removable fasteners 40, thereby celebrating a cherished holiday tradition in a manner that hews to the traditions in a limited space, including apartments, nursing homes, offices (to display holiday cards from business associates) and the like.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
