358 LE Rifle Bullet

The 358 L. E. “Lone Eagle” is designed to fit the legal requirements to rifle hunt deer in Indiana. The cartridge is a modification from the 35 Remington cartridge. It is cut down to 1.80 in. case length. It has a flex tip design bullet such as the Hornady FTX™. It will shoot from a tubular magazine as well as bolt action or break open. This cartridge does not require modification or customization to the rifle unlike previous designs. These bullets will fire out of any 35 Remington chambered gun. It allows the use of a higher powered rifle for deer hunting in the state of Indiana where previously a hunter was only allowed to use deer slugs or limited cartridges in a rifle that had legal hand gun specifications. This cartridge was taken from an old concept and adjusted for today's needs.

Description
STATEMENT

This is a Wildcat cartridge of the 35 Remmington. It is made by taking the case length of the 35 Remmington which is 1.920 inches cut back to the overall case length of 1.80 inches. A Hornadey 358 FTX or any bullet similar to that length can be used to make this cartridge. The purpose of this bullet is to fit the leagal length and description size for Indiana deer hunting and other.

The manner of making this casing is to take the 35 Remmington cartridge using a case trimmer decreasing the length to 1.80 inches in order to fit the legal description in Indiana for rifle cartridges to hunt deer.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

This cartridge is intended to fit Indiana's legal description requirements or any other state that requires the same specification for case length and bullet diameter for hunting deer or other big game. The modification of the overall length of the case has been trimmed back to 1.80 inches from the original 1.920 inches. This brass is a modification of the 35 Remmington cartridge. Currently the only major manufacturer that makes a rifle chambering the 35 Remmington cartridge is Marlin firearms known as the 336C lever action. With the FTX bullet, this cartridge or any bullet with a FTX style tip that is designed to be fired out of a tubular magazine will work in this cartridge. Any bullet that is not tubular friendly can be used out of this cartridge providing it is a bolt action or break open. Previous designs the medication of the rifle and cartridge in order to be legal in Indiana for deer hunting. That cartridge is known as the 358 Hoosier which is a wild cat of the 358 Winchester. It was designed to fit the same case length and bullet diameter as the 358 L.E. however, it is a completely different cartridge. Unlike the 358 Hoosier which requires a custom rifle, the 358 L. E. is designed to fire out of any off the shelf rifle chambered in a 35 Remmington.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

This cartridge is a wildcat of the 35 Remmington that has been adjusted to for today's needs. It allows the use of a higher powered rifle for deer hunting in the state of Indiana where previously a hunter was only allowed to use deer slugs or limited cartridges in a rifle that had legal hand gun specifications. Contrary to other 358 wildcat cartridge designs, the 358 L. E. does not require the modification of the rifle, simply the decrease in case length from 1.920 to 1.80 inches. This new case length meets the requirements for Indiana hunting laws.
