Abstract

A display system for noteworthy DVDs, providing a “gold record” presentation for life's priceless memories is provided. The display system embodies a frame forming a flange recess disposed along a display opening, wherein a peripheral portion of a transparent front panel is sandwiched between the recess flange and a back panel. The back panel is pivotally connected to the frame so that the display system moves from an open configuration to a closed configuration. A DVD post is disposed along the back panel for providing a “gold record” presentation of the noteworthy DVD in the closed configuration.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application No. 61/989,684, filed 7 May 2014, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to display systems and, more particularly, to a display system for noteworthy DVDs.

Physical DVD's and CD's are typically stored in racks, while their contents are stored in computer memory, the cloud, and other storage devices for movies and non personal entertainment. However, for DVDs whose content captures life's priceless moments, such as weddings and other life-cycle events, there is no secure place to keep them while prominently and presentably displaying them. And so such priceless DVD's are stored and lost. Since their nature is unique, replacement costs can be prohibitively expensive.

As almost all videographers can attest, they routinely get calls from past clients asking for duplicates of Wedding Videos that have been lost while moving or otherwise misplaced. This begs the question, when is the last time you paid $500 for something and you don't have a place to put it?

As can be seen, there is a need for a display system for noteworthy DVDs, providing a “gold record” presentation for life's priceless memories.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a display system includes a frame forming a recess flange along a periphery of a display opening; a back panel pivotally connected to the frame, wherein the back panel is defined by a back surface and an opposing display surface; a DVD post disposed along the display surface; and a transparent front panel, wherein a peripheral portion thereof is sandwiched between the display surface and the recess flange.

In another aspect of the present invention, a display system includes a frame forming a recess flange along a periphery of a display opening; a back panel pivotally connected to the frame, wherein the back panel is defined by a back surface and an opposing display surface; a DVD post disposed along the display surface so as to be generally centered relative to the display opening; a DVD cavity disposed concentrically about the DVD post, wherein the depth of the DVD post is equal to or less than the depth of the DVD cavity; a transparent front panel, wherein a peripheral portion thereof is sandwiched between the display surface and the recess flange; a cover image and a divider panel sandwiched between the transparent front panel and the display surface so that the cover image is facing the transparent front panel; a stand disposed along the back surface, wherein the stand forms two generally perpendicular standing planes; a knob disposed along the back surface; a hanger connected to a backside of the frame; and a DVD engaged by the DVD post.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a display system for noteworthy DVDs, providing a “gold record” presentation for life's priceless memories. The display system embodies a frame forming a flange recess disposed along a display opening, wherein a peripheral portion of a transparent front panel is sandwiched between the recess flange and a back panel. The back panel is pivotally connected to the frame so that the display system moves from an open configuration to a closed configuration. A DVD post is disposed along the back panel for providing a “gold record” presentation of the noteworthy DVD in the closed configuration.

Referring to FIGS. 1 through 7, the present invention includes a display system 50 for noteworthy DVDs 30, providing a “gold record” presentation for life's priceless memories. The display system 50 may embody a frame 10 or 34 and a method of presenting memorabilia DVDs 30 tastefully on the wall, on the mantel, on a dresser, or the like.

The frame 10 or 34 may be generally rectangular or any geometric or non-geometric shape so long as the frame 10 or 34 functions in accordance with the present invention as described herein. The frame 10 or 34 may form a display opening 42 attached along a periphery of a transparent front plate 12. In certain embodiments, the frame 10 or 34 may form a plate cutout 44 that circumscribes the display opening resulting in a recess flange 20 or 36, as illustrated in FIG. 3. A portion of the transparent front plate 12 may be sandwiched between the recess flange 20 or 36 and a back panel 14.

In certain embodiments, the back panel 14 may be pivotally connected to the frame 10 or 34 by at least one hinge 16. The back panel 14 may be defined by a back surface and an opposing display surface facing the transparent front plate 12. The back panel 14 and/or its display surface may provide fanciful, tasteful, or modern backings, such as red velvet, by way of example.

A stand 26 may be disposed along the back surface. The stand 26 may form a neck-tie shape so as to provide two generally perpendicular standing planes. A first standing plane may be dimensioned and adapted so that the frame 10 or 34 may be positioned along a supporting surface in a table-top position, as illustrated in FIG. 5. A second standing plane may be dimensioned and adapted so that the frame 10 or 34 may be positioned along the supporting surface in generally perpendicular sideways position. A knob 18 may be disposed on the back surface, as illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 7.

A generally circular DVD post 24 or 32 may be disposed along the display surface. The DVD post 24 or 32 may be dimensioned and adapted to securely receive a centric opening of the DVD 30, as illustrated in FIGS. 4 and 5. The DVD post 24 or 32 may be recessed in a concentric DVD cavity 22, wherein the DVD cavity 22 is dimensioned and adapted to securely receive the DVD 30 along its periphery.

In certain embodiments, the display system 50 may include a cover image 40 and a divider panel 38, wherein the divider panel 38 sandwiches a peripheral portion of the transparent front panel 12 against the recess flange 20 or 36. The cover image 40 may be a picture or other display symbolic of the DVD 30 housed within the frame 10 or 34, as illustrated in FIG. 6. As also illustrated in FIG. 7, the DVD 30 and the back panel 14 may sandwich the divider panel 38 and the cover image 40 against the transparent front panel 12.

A hanger 28 may be disposed along the frame 10 or 34 so that the display system 50 may be hung from a wall.

A method of using the present invention may include the following. The display system 50 disclosed above may be provided. A user may hang the frame 10 or 34 on the wall by means of the hanger 28. Alternatively, the frame 10 or 34 may be placed on the supporting surface and maintained in a propped up position by means of the stand 26. The user may pivotally move the back panel 14 relative to the frame 10 or 34 from a closed configuration to an open configuration so as to secure the noteworthy DVD 30 about the DVD post 24 or 32 and/or within the DVD slot 22. Then the user may pivotally move the frame 10 or 34 relative to the back panel 14 to the closed configuration, presenting the noteworthy DVD 30 behind the transparent front panel 12, so that the important events in one's life captured on the noteworthy DVD 30 are tastefully and prominently displayed.

In an alternative embodiment, the user may place a desired cover image 40 between the back panel 14 and the transparent front cover 12 so as to conceal the memorabilia DVD 30.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.

Claims

1. A display system comprising:

a frame forming a recess flange along a periphery of a display opening;

a back panel pivotally connected to the frame, wherein the back panel is defined by a back surface and an opposing display surface;

a DVD post disposed along the display surface; and

a transparent front panel, wherein a peripheral portion thereof is sandwiched between the display surface and the recess flange.

2. The display system of claim 1, wherein the DVD post is disposed to be generally centered relative to the display opening.

3. The display system of claim 1, further comprising a DVD cavity disposed concentrically about the DVD post.

4. The display system of claim 3, wherein the depth of the DVD post is equal to or less than the depth of the DVD cavity.

5. The display system of claim 1, further comprising a stand disposed along the back surface, wherein the stand forms two generally perpendicular standing planes.

6. The display system of claim 1, further comprising a knob disposed along the back surface.

7. The display system of claim 1, further comprising a hanger connected to a backside of the frame.

8. The display system of claim 1, further comprising a cover image and a divider panel sandwiched between the transparent front panel and the display surface so that the cover image is facing the transparent front panel.

9. The display system of claim 1, further comprising a DVD engaged by the DVD post.

10. A display system comprising:

a frame forming a recess flange along a periphery of a display opening;

a back panel pivotally connected to the frame, wherein the back panel is defined by a back surface and an opposing display surface;

a DVD post disposed along the display surface so as to be generally centered relative to the display opening;

a DVD cavity disposed concentrically about the DVD post, wherein the depth of the DVD post is equal to or less than the depth of the DVD cavity;

a transparent front panel, wherein a peripheral portion thereof is sandwiched between the display surface and the recess flange;

a cover image and a divider panel sandwiched between the transparent front panel and the display surface so that the cover image is facing the transparent front panel;

a stand disposed along the back surface, wherein the stand forms two generally perpendicular standing planes;

a knob disposed along the back surface;

a hanger connected to a backside of the frame; and

a DVD engaged by the DVD post.
