Abstract

The present invention relates to a travel bag having movable casters mounted on the underside thereof, one-step and two-step support rods and a movable handle insertedly mounted on the top thereof, comprising: an auxiliary housing disposed to a given height on the top portion of one side thereof in such a manner as to be slidingly coupled to slide surfaces 12 disposed at the inside thereof; and an auxiliary storage chamber formed at the inside of the auxiliary housing when the auxiliary housing is moved up along the slide surfaces.

Description

REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This is a continuation of pending International Patent Application PCT/KR2013/002416 filed on Mar. 22, 2013, which designates the United States, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a travel bag, and more particularly, to a travel bag, wherein a variable storage chamber can be further provided, as necessary, to a normal travel bag to be pulled and moved by rolling wheels, thereby, particularly, allowing portable items of a traveler, such as a handbag, a camera, and the like to be conveniently stored when the traveler goes through immigration formalities at the airport during a trip abroad, and greatly improving conveniences during use.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Generally, a travel bag, which is used on a long journey like a trip abroad, has rolling wheels mounted on the underside thereof and a movable handle insertedly mounted on the top thereof, so that when the travel bag is kept at a given place, the movable handle is inserted into the travel bag to make the volume of the travel bag reduced, and contrarily, when the travel bag is moved to another place, the movable handle is exposed to the outside to allow the travel bag to be pulled and moved thereby.

According to the conventional travel bag, however, a traveler's portable items, such as a handbag, a camera, and the like are generally stored in a separate bag when proceeding through immigration at the airport during a trip abroad, thus making it inconvenient to carry them with the traveler. In some cases, the portable items may be lost. Accordingly, there is a need to develop a new travel bag having a variable storage chamber adapted to conveniently and easily store the portable items therein while the travel bag is being moved by casters.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems occurring in the prior art, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a travel bag having a variable storage chamber that allows portable items of a traveler, such as a handbag, a camera, and the like to be conveniently stored in the variable storage chamber when the traveler goes through immigration formalities at the airport during a trip abroad, thus greatly improving conveniences during use, providing the conveniences in the storage of the portable items, and preventing the portable items from being lost.

To accomplish the above-mentioned object, according to the present invention, there is provided a travel bag having movable casters mounted on the underside thereof, one-step and two-step support rods and a movable handle insertedly mounted on the top thereof, the travel bag including: an auxiliary housing disposed to a given height on the top portion of one side thereof in such a manner as to be slidingly coupled to slide surfaces disposed at the inside thereof; and an auxiliary storage chamber formed at the inside of the auxiliary housing when the auxiliary housing is moved up along the slide surfaces.

According to the present invention, the travel bag is configured wherein the auxiliary housing is provided to a normal travel bag to be pulled and moved by rolling wheels, that is, casters, to form the auxiliary storage chamber serving as an additional bag thereinto, so that when the traveler carries or moves the travel bag during he or she goes through immigration formalities at the airport during a trip abroad, his or her portable items, such as a handbag, a camera, and the like can be conveniently and safely stored in the auxiliary storage chamber formed in the travel bag, thus providing the conveniences in the easy storage of the portable items and preventing the portable items from being lost.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

FIGS. 1 and 2 are perspective views showing the configuration of a travel bag having a variable storage chamber according to the present invention.

A general travel bag 1 includes a cover (cap) 2 having opening means like a zipper formed on one side surface thereof, casters 11 mounted on the underside thereof, one-step and two-step support rods 4 and 41 and a movable handle 5 insertedly mounted on the top thereof, so that when the travel bag 1 is kept at a given place, the one-step and two-step support rods 4 and 41 are inserted into the travel bag 1, and when the travel bag 1 is carried or moved to another place, a locking and releasing button 51 of the movable handle 5 is pressed to release the locking state of the one-step and two-step support rods 4 and 41. Accordingly, the two-step support rods 41 are pulled out to allow the travel bag 1 to be pulled and moved by the movable handle 5. Under the general configuration of the travel bag 1, the travel bag 1 is pulled and moved by an auxiliary handle 6 in the state where the one-step and two-step support rods 4 and 41 are not pulled out.

In addition to the general parts as mentioned above, the travel bag 1 according to the present invention further includes an auxiliary housing 7 disposed on a portion at which the one-step and two-step support rods 4 and 41 are located, to form an auxiliary storage chamber 10. In more detail, the auxiliary housing 7 is disposed at the top side of the travel bag 1, that is, at the portion where the one-step support rods 4 are located, in such a manner as to be slidingly movable. Further, slide surfaces 12 are formed at the portion where the auxiliary housing 7 is disposed in such a manner as to have a smaller size than the auxiliary housing 7, and thus, stepped portions 13 are formed to have the same thickness as the auxiliary housing 7, so that when the external surfaces of the travel bag 1 are coupled to the auxiliary housing 7, they have the same plane as the auxiliary housing 7. Further, the auxiliary housing 7 is connected to the one-step support rods 4 by means of hanging loops 42, and otherwise, the auxiliary housing 7 is disposed in the state of being separated from the one-step support rods 4.

FIG. 2 shows a first example of the auxiliary housing 7 wherein the auxiliary housing 7 is connected to the one-step support rods 4 by means of the hanging loops 42, and if the one-step and two-step support rods 4 and 41 are pulled up, the auxiliary housing 7 is moved up together.

FIG. 4 shows a second example of the auxiliary housing 7 wherein the auxiliary housing 7 is independently disposed irrespective of the one-step and two-step support rods 4 and 41. In this case, desirably, the travel bag 1 further includes a hook pin 14 disposed on a body thereof so as to prevent the auxiliary housing 7 from being escaped when the auxiliary housing 7 is pulled up.

According to the present invention, the auxiliary housing 7 is slidingly disposed on the top side of the body of the travel bag 1, so that in normal cases wherein the travel bag 1 is kept at a given place, the auxiliary housing 7 is coupled to the slide surfaces 12 formed at the inner sides of the stepped portions 13 of the travel bag 1, as shown in FIG. 1. Accordingly, the auxiliary housing 7 is naturally coupled to the external surfaces of the travel bag 1, without giving any bad influences on the outer appearance of the travel bag 1.

When the travel bag 1 is moved to another place, the locking and releasing button 51 of the movable handle 5 connected to the one-step and two-step support rods 4 and 41 is pressed, and accordingly, the one-step and two-step support rods 4 and 41 are pulled out, so that the travel bag 1 is pulled by the movable handle 5 and moved by the casters 11.

According to the present invention, as shown in FIG. 2, if the one-step support rods 4 are pulled out, the auxiliary housing 7 connected to the one-step support rods 4 by means of the hanging loops 42 is moved up along the slide surfaces 12 and exposed to the outside, thus forming the auxiliary storage chamber 10, that is, an additional bag, at the interior of the auxiliary housing 7.

Accordingly, a traveler's handbag, camera, portable food, smartphone, and so on are conveniently stored in the auxiliary storage chamber 10, thus making it convenient for the traveler to go through immigration formalities at the airport during a trip abroad, and if the travel bag 1 is moved to another travel place, all kinds of portable items are safely moved together with the travel bag 1, thus greatly improving the conveniences in travelling.

According to the present invention, as shown in FIG. 4, the auxiliary housing 7 is independently disposed irrespective of the one-step and two-step support rods 4 and 41. The auxiliary housing 7 is disposed irrespective of the movable handle 5, and if necessary, the auxiliary housing 7 is pulled up by means of the traveler's hand, thus forming the auxiliary storage chamber 10.

If the use of the auxiliary storage chamber 10 is finished, the auxiliary housing 7 is pushed down by means of the traveler's hand and returned to its original position on the slide surfaces 12, so that the auxiliary housing 7 is naturally coupled to the external surfaces of the travel bag 1, without having any bad influences on the outer appearance of the travel bag 1, and it is not hindered when the travel bag 1 is normally kept at the given place.

As described above, the travel bag according to the present invention has the auxiliary housing adapted to form the auxiliary storage chamber serving as an additional bag therein, so that the traveler's portable items can be conveniently and safely moved together with the travel bag in the state of being stored in the auxiliary storage chamber of the travel bag, thus greatly improving the conveniences in use.

While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiments, it is not to be restricted by the embodiments but only by the appended claims. It is to be appreciated that those skilled in the art can change or modify the embodiments without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.

Claims

1. A travel bag having movable casters mounted on the underside thereof, one-step and two-step support rods and a movable handle insertedly mounted on the top thereof, the travel bag comprising:

an auxiliary housing disposed to a given height on the top portion of one side thereof in such a manner as to be slidingly coupled to slide surfaces disposed at the inside thereof; and

an auxiliary storage chamber formed at the inside of the auxiliary housing when the auxiliary housing is moved up along the slide surfaces.

The travel bag according to claim 1, wherein the auxiliary housing is integrally connected to the two-step support rods by means of hanging loops, so that when the two-step support rods are pulled up, the auxiliary housing is moved up together to form the auxiliary storage chamber at the interior thereof.
