Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention generally relates to the field of towels used in beauty and hair care industry and more particularly relates to a salon towel comprising snap fasteners configured to hold the towel in place, around a neck of a wearer.

BACKGROUND

Towels are used commonly within beauty and hair care industries. During haircut or other related salon services such as hair coloring, trimming or shaving, it is a common practice to provide a towel which covers the person's neck and shoulders. One of the primary functions of the salon towel is to provide protection to the wearer's clothing and skin from hair clippings, oil, water, cleansing agents, dyes and other skin or hair cosmetics. In addition, salon towels are most prevalent in cosmetology, spa and other related industries.

Conventionally, salon towels comprises ordinary, rectangular absorbent towels which are wrapped around the wearer's neck to form a cape like structure covering the neck, shoulders and torso region. Wrapping of towel around the neck tends to form a bulk, unprofessional appearance and doesn't fit comfortably around the neck. Further, the wrapped towel doesn't form a smooth drape from the shoulder and unties by itself over a period of time. Alternatively, ready to wear capes made from synthetic fabric material are also employed to cover the body of wearer during salon services. The capes are bigger, expensive, non-absorbent and cumbersome to use.

Therefore, there still exists a need for an improved towel allowing easy wrapping around a neck of the wearer without causing any discomfort and the towel to be held in place for a longer period of duration.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a towel comprising an absorbent fabric material comprising four edges and four corners. The towel comprises a salon towel, used in beauty and hair care industry, wherein the towel comprises one or more fastening members placed at at least two corners of the fabric material. The fastening members are selected from a group consisting snap button, hook and loop or Velcro, button and hole, strap and magnet that are configured to hold the towel in place, around a neck of a wearer.

In an embodiment, the towel comprises a salon towel which allows any two corners of the towel to be wrapped around a neck of the wearer and secured in place using the fastening members at the corners. The salon towel covers the neck, shoulder and entire torso of the wearer, protecting from hair clippings, dyes, colors, water and cosmetics while getting a haircut or other related salon services.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 illustrates a top plan view of the towel according to an embodiment of the present invention.

FIG. 2 illustrates a top plan view of the towel according to a different embodiment.

FIG. 3 illustrates a perspective view of the towel fastened around the neck of a wearer.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DIFFERENT EMBODIMENTS

In the following description, for the purposes of explanation, specific construction details, arrangements, and materials are set forth in order to provide a more thorough understanding of the present invention. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art, however, that the present invention may be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well known manufacturing methods and structures have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the present invention unnecessarily.

Referring to FIG. 1, a top plan view of the towel 100 is shown. The towel 100 is approximately rectangular shape with four edges and four corners. An upper edge 102, a lower edge 104 and two side edges 106 and 108, upper left corner 112, lower left corner 114, upper right corner 116 and lower right corner 118. At least one fastening member 110 placed at each corner of the towel 100, allows fastening of any two adjacent corners after wrapping around the neck of the wearer. For example, the fastening members 110 at upper left corner 112 and upper right corner 116 are brought together and fastened as shown in FIG. 1. In another embodiment, the towel 100 comprising fastening members 110 at upper left corner 112 and lower left corner 114 are brought together and fastened, as shown in FIG. 2.

The fastening member 110 is selected from a group consisting of snap button or press fit button, hook and loop fastener such as Velcro straps or patches, button and hole mechanism, strings or laces that can be tied together and magnetic fasteners comprising opposite poles. The fastening members 110 are placed at four corners of the towel 100, thus allowing bringing together any two adjacent corners and fastening around the wearer's neck as shown in FIG. 3.

The towel 100 of the present invention is generally of the size of towels which are used in the beauty and hair care industry. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the exact dimensions of the towel 100 may vary without departing from the overall spirit and scope of the present invention. The salon towel covers the neck, shoulder and entire torso of the wearer, thus protecting from clothes and skin from hair clippings, dyes, colors, water and cosmetics while getting a haircut or other related salon services.

The towel 100 can be manufactured from any suitable material such as cotton. Cotton is a common and widely accepted material for towels which are used within the hair care industry. Other fabrics or materials can also be used for the towel. These other fabrics include natural materials such as wool, or synthetics such as polyester or rayon. The towel is manufactured to have a sheet-like or web construction. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the exact material chosen will vary according to the design choice of the user, and the specific application in which the towel is used.

The description of the present invention has been made with respect to specific arrangements and constructions of an improved towel. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the foregoing description is for illustrative purposes only, and that various changes and modifications can be made to the present invention without departing from the overall spirit and scope of the present invention. The full extent of the present invention is defined and limited only by the following claims.
