Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates generally to bushing type adapter for a firearm. More specifically, it relates to a means for quickly and easily attaching a booster, muzzle brake, solvent trap or silencer to the barrel of a firearm

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Many types of firearm barrels provide exterior threads. It would be advantageous to provide an easily removable adapter for attaching additional items to the barrel of a firearm. One such attachment is known as a solvent trap. Solvent traps are used to catches any solvents that drip out the muzzle end of the barrel while cleaning the firearm. Additional uses include attachment means for muzzle boosters or recoil boosters. Such devices are used to improve the reliability of the recoil mechanism. The adapter could also be used to attach a noise suppressor to the barrel of a firearm.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The adapter provides a threaded aperture which is attachable to the end of a firearm barrel. Several sizes and thread types are necessary to match each type of firearm barrel. Adapter provides a threaded aperture for attaching accessories including noise suppressors, boosters and solvent traps, among other things.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 shows a side and back perspective view of the adapter.

FIG. 2 shows a side elevational view of the adapter.

FIG. 3 shows a cross-sectional view of the adapter.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Now referring to the drawings in detail wherein like numerals refer to like elements throughout, FIG. 2 shows a side view of one embodiment of the adapter 1. Adapter 1 is a generally toroid or donut shaped object As shown, the perimeter of the adapter 1 provides a textured or knurled circumference 11 so that the adapter 1 a can be attached to the barrel of a firearm. Adapter 1 provides a central aperture 13 designed to accommodate a cleaning device in the event of use as a solvent trap. Central aperture 13 also allows passage of a bullet or other projectile in the case of use of the adapter 1 as a silencer or booster.

Adapter 1 comprises a first end 5 and a second end 7. The interior 15 of the first end 5 of the central aperture 13 is threaded or partially threaded 17 so as to accommodate an exteriorly threaded firearm barrel. It is critical that adapter 1 aligns with the firearm barrel to avoid any misalignment issues with the use of adapter with a booster or noise suppressor.

The exterior 19 of the second end 7 of the adapter 1 has an exterior thread 21. Exterior thread 21 can be matched to any type of attachment. Among those devices suitable for use with adapter 1 are boosters, solvent traps and noise suppressors.
