EMBEDDED GLASSES HOLDER

Abstract

A placket of a shirt with an embedded eyelet piece is provided. The placket of the present invention includes a top end and a bottom end. A collar is attached to the top end of the placket. The placket further includes a front placket and a back placket. A plurality of buttons are sewn along the length of the back placket. A plurality of button holes are formed through the front placket. The present invention further includes an eyelet piece attached near or below the bottom end of the placket. The eyelet piece forms an embedded opening to receive one of a right arm and a left arm of eyewear within.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application Ser. No. 62/025,695, filed Jul. 17, 2014, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to an embedded glasses holder and, more particularly, to a concealed slot in a shirt for holding glasses.

Eyewear consists of items and accessories worn on or over the eyes, for fashion or adornment, protection against the environment, and to improve or enhance visual acuity. When not being worn on the face, it is often difficult to retain the eyewear on one's person in a way that is secure, discreet and fashionable. Placing eyewear between the buttons is not secure and often results in the eyewear falling out.

As can be seen, there is a need for an improved glasses holder.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a placket comprises: a top end and a bottom end, wherein a collar is attached at the top end; a back placket portion comprising a plurality of buttons; a front placket portion comprising a plurality of button holes; and an eyelet piece attached at the bottom end, connecting the back placket and the front placket together, the eyelet piece comprising a front fabric layer attached to a rear fabric layer forming an opening in between.

In another aspect of the present invention, a shirt comprises: a placket comprising a top end attached to a collar, a bottom end, a back placket portion comprising a plurality of buttons, and a front placket portion comprising a plurality of button holes; and an eyelet piece attached to the shirt near the bottom end, the eyelet piece comprising at least a front fabric layer comprising a first end and a second, wherein the first end and second end are secured to the shirt forming an opening in between, wherein the opening is formed along a central vertical axis of the placket.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

The present invention may include an eyelet formed at a bottom portion of the placket to hold and secure glasses. The shirt placket with a hidden eyelet built into it can secure eyewear discreetly and comfortably. The eyelet is not noticeable, is accessible when needed, and does not involve additional products or implementation.

Referring to FIGS. 1 through 5, the present invention includes a placket 20, 22 sewn to a shirt 26. The placket 20, 22 of the present invention includes a top end and a bottom end. A collar 24 is attached to the top end of the placket 20, 22. The placket 20, 22 further includes a front placket 20 and a back placket 22. A plurality of buttons 28 are sewn along the length of the back placket 20. A plurality of button holes 30 are formed through the front placket 20. Each button hole 30 corresponds to and receives a button 28. The present invention further includes an eyelet piece 10 attached near or below the bottom end of the placket 20, 22. The eyelet piece 10 forms an embedded opening 14 to receive one of the right arm 36 and the left arm 38 of eyewear 34 within.

In certain embodiments, the eyelet piece 10 may include at least a front fabric layer 11. The front fabric layer 11 may include a first end and a second. The first end and second end are secured to the shirt 26 forming an opening 14 in between. In certain embodiments, the eyelet piece 10 may include a front fabric layer 11 and a rear fabric layer 12 forming an opening 14 in between. The front fabric layer 11 and the rear fabric layer 12 may be separate pieces sewn together. In certain embodiments, the front fabric layer 11 and the rear fabric layer 12 are formed of an elongated fabric layer having ends and a bend. The bend is stitched 32 together and the ends are stitched 32 together forming the opening 14 in between the bend and the ends.

In certain embodiments, the eyelet piece 10 secures the bottom end of the front placket 20 and the bottom end of the back placket 22 together. In such embodiments, the rear fabric layer 12 may be sewn to the bottom ends of the front placket 20 and the rear placket. The front fabric layer 11 may be sewn to the first end 16 and a second end 16 of the front surface of the rear fabric layer 12, leaving a center portion open, thereby forming the embedded opening 14. The shirt 26 may be sewn to the outer edges of the eyelet piece 10.

As illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4, the present invention may include a mesh layer 18. The mesh layer 18 may be secured to an inner surface of the front fabric layer 11. The mesh layer 18 may add additional support to the eyelet piece 10. In certain embodiments, the mesh layer 18 may include a first end and a second end. The first end and the second end may be stitched 32 to the front fabric layer 11 and rear fabric layer 12 forming a narrow opening 14, in which either the right arm 36 or the left arm 38 may snuggly fit within. The front fabric layer 11 may lie flush with the front placket 20, thereby making the eyelet piece 10 discreet.

While wearing the shirt 26 a user 40 may slide an arm 36, 38 of the eyewear 34 into the opening 14 of the eyelet piece 10. The eyewear 34 is then safely secured to the user 40. If the user 40 would like to wear the eyewear 34, the user may slide the arm 36, 38 out of the opening of the eyelet piece 10 and place the eyewear 34 over their face.

The layers of the present invention may be made of natural or synthetic fabrics. For example, the layers may be made of cotton pique, polyester or a combination thereof.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.

Claims

1. A placket comprising:

a top end and a bottom end, wherein a collar is attached at the top end;

a back placket portion comprising a plurality of buttons;

a front placket portion comprising a plurality of button holes; and

an eyelet piece attached at the bottom end, connecting the back placket and the front placket together, the eyelet piece comprising a front fabric layer attached to a rear fabric layer forming an opening in between.

2. The placket of claim 1, further comprising a mesh layer attached to an inner surface of the front fabric layer.

3. The placket of claim 1, wherein the rear fabric layer is attached below and in between the back placket portion and the front placket portion

4. The placket of claim 1, wherein the opening is centered along a vertical axis of the placket.

5. The placket of claim 1, wherein the front fabric layer and the rear fabric layer are formed of an elongated fabric layer comprising ends and a bend, wherein the bend is stitched together and the ends are stitched together forming the opening in between the bend and the ends.

6. A shirt comprising:

a placket comprising a top end attached to a collar, a bottom end, a back placket portion comprising a plurality of buttons, and a front placket portion comprising a plurality of button holes; and

an eyelet piece attached to the shirt below the placket, the eyelet piece comprising at least a front fabric layer comprising a first end and a second, wherein the first end and second end are secured to the shirt forming an opening in between, wherein the opening is formed along a central vertical axis of the placket.

7. The shirt of claim 6, further comprising a mesh layer attached to an inner surface of the front fabric layer.

8. The shirt of claim 6, further comprising a rear fabric layer secured to the front fabric layer forming the opening in between, wherein the rear fabric layer is attached below and in between the back placket portion and the front placket portion

9. The shirt of claim 8, wherein the front fabric layer and the rear fabric layer are formed of an elongated fabric layer comprising ends and a bend, wherein the bend is stitched together and the ends are stitched together forming the opening in between the bend and the ends.
