DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new tracking device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the tracking assembly 10 generally comprises a remote processor 12 coupled to a golf ball 14. The golf ball 14 may be a golf ball of any conventional design. The remote processor 12 is centrally positioned within an interior of the golf ball 14. The remote processor 12 may be an electronic processor of any conventional design.

A remote transceiver 16 is coupled to the golf ball 14. The remote transceiver 16 is centrally positioned within the interior of the golf ball 14. Additionally, the remote transceiver 16 is electrically coupled to the remote processor 12. The remote transceiver 16 may be an RF transceiver of any conventional design. Lastly, the remote transceiver 16 may have an operational range between 350 m and 450 m.

A base housing 18 has a front end 20 and a back end 22. The base housing 18 is elongated between the front 20 and back 22 ends. Continuing, the front end 20 of the base housing 18 is convexly curvilinear between each of a first lateral side 24 and a second lateral side 26 of the base housing 18. Additionally, each of the first 24 and second 26 lateral sides of the base housing 18 curve toward each other proximate a middle 28 of the base housing 18. The base housing 18 is carried by a user.

A base processor 30 is coupled to the base housing 18. The base processor 30 may be an electronic processor of any conventional design. A base transceiver 32 is coupled to the base housing 18. The base transceiver 32 is electrically coupled to the base processor 30. Additionally, the base transceiver 32 is in electromagnetic communication with the remote transceiver 16 so the base transceiver 32 tracks the golf ball 14. The base transceiver 16 may be an RF transceiver of any conventional design. Finally, the base transceiver 16 may have an operational range between 350 m and 450 m. A retractable antenna 66 may be coupled to the base housing 18 and operationally coupled to the base transceiver 32.

A GPS 34 is coupled to the base housing 18. The GPS 34 is electrically coupled to the base processor 30. The GPS 34 determines a location of the golf ball 14 with respect to the base housing 18. Moreover, the GPS 34 may be an electronic GPS of any conventional design.

An actuator 36 is movably coupled to a top side 38 of the base housing 18 proximate the middle 28 of the base housing 18. The actuator 36 is positionable between an on position and an off position. The actuator 36 is electrically coupled to the base processer 30. The actuator 36 actuates and de-actuates the base processor 30.

A display 40 is coupled to the top side 38 of the base housing 18 proximate the front end 20 of the base housing 18. The display 40 is visible to the user. Continuing, the display 40 is electrically coupled to the base processor 30. The display 40 displays the location of the golf ball 14 with respect to the base housing 18 so the user may track and locate the golf ball 14. The display 40 may be an LCD display of any conventional design.

A power supply 42 is coupled to the base housing 18. The power supply 42 is electrically coupled to the actuator 36. The power supply 42 comprises at least one battery 44 that may have an operational voltage between 6 VDC and 9 VDC. The power supply 42 is positioned beneath a battery cover 46. The battery cover 46 is removably coupled to a bottom side 48 of the base housing 18.

In use, the golf ball 14 is used in the convention of the game of golf. The user tracks the golf ball 14 with the base housing 18 if the golf ball 14 is hit into an area where the golf ball 14 is not visible. The user observes the display 40 so the user can move to the location of the golf ball 14. Additionally, the assembly 10 allows the user to play an entire round of golf without losing the golf ball 14.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
