Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to hair clips for arranging the hair, and more particularly to a hair clip assembly, which comprises a hair clip body comprising upper and lower clamping arms pivotally connected together with a pivot pin, and a substantially V-shaped spring device set between the rear ends of the upper and lower clamping arms adjacent to the pivot connection lugs to hold the hair clip body constantly in a close position.

2. Description of the Related Art

Commercial hair clips commonly comprise two clamping arms pivotally connected together with a pivot pin, and a torsion spring mounted around the pivot pin and stopped between the two clamping arms to impart a pressure to the clamping arms, holding them in a closed condition. However, during application of a hair clip of this design, the hairs can be tangled up with the torsion spring, destructing the sense of beauty of the arranged hair style. Further, these torsion spring-based commercial hair clips are complicated to assemble, increasing the cost.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Referring to FIGS. 1-5, a hair clip assembly in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention is shown. The hair clip assembly comprises a hair clip body (1) and a spring device (3).

The hair clip body (1) comprises an upper clamping arm (11), a lower clamping arm (12), and a pivot pin (13). The upper and lower clamping arms (11) (12) each comprise a pair of pivot connection lugs (111) (121) symmetrically located at one end, namely, the rear end thereof. The pivot pin (13) is fastened to the pivot connection lugs (111) (121) to pivotally connect the upper and lower clamping arms (11) (12) together.

The spring device (3) is set between the rear ends of the upper and lower clamping arms (11) (12) adjacent to the pivot connection lugs (111) (121). Further, the spring device (3) is a substantially V-shaped spring member made from resilient metal or plastics, comprising two main spring arms (31) obliquely connected to each other, two supplementary spring arms (311) respectively obliquely extended from respective distal ends of the two main spring arms (31) toward to and abutted against each other, and a locating groove (32) transversely located at the connection area between the two main spring arms (31). After insertion of the spring device (3) in between the upper and lower clamping arms (11) (12), the rear ends of the upper and lower clamping arms (11) (12) are respectively supported on the main spring arms (31) of the spring device (3). At this time, the main spring arms (31) and supplementary spring arms (311) of the spring device (3) impart a pressure to the hair clip body (1) to open the rear ends of the upper and lower clamping arm (11) (12), holding the hair clip body (1) in a close position, and thus, the hair can be secured to the hair clip body (1). The upper and lower clamping arms (11) (12) each further comprise a border flange (112) (122) perpendicularly extended along the border of the border thereof for stopping the spring device (3) in between the rear ends of the upper and lower clamping arm (11) (12). Further, the upper clamping arm (11) comprises two serrated portions (113) symmetrically and longitudinally extended along two opposite lateral sides thereof, enhancing hair-clamping strength and preventing slips. Further, after installation of the spring device (3) between the rear ends of the upper and lower clamping arms (11) (12), the locating groove (32) is forced into engagement with the pivot pin (13), enhancing positioning stability. The spring device (3) can be directly made of a resilient metal sheet using a stamping technique, forming the main spring arms (31) and the supplementary spring arm (312) in integrity. Thus, the hair clip assembly is easy and inexpensive to manufacture.

Referring to FIGS. 6-9, a hair clip assembly in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention is shown. This second embodiment is substantially similar to the aforesaid first embodiment with the exception that the two supplementary spring arms (312) of the spring device (3) are respectively formed of a respective middle part of the two main spring arms (31).

Referring to FIGS. 10-13, a hair clip assembly in accordance with a third embodiment of the present invention is shown. The hair clip assembly in this third embodiment simply comprises a hair clip body (2) without the aforesaid spring device (3). The hair clip body (2) comprises an upper clamping arm (21), a lower clamping arm (22), and a pivot pin (13). The upper and lower clamping arms (21) (22) each comprise a pair of pivot connection lugs (211) (221) symmetrically located at one end, namely, the rear end thereof. The pivot pin (13) is fastened to the pivot connection lugs (211) (221) to pivotally connect the upper and lower clamping arms (21) (22) together. The upper and lower clamping arms (21) (22) each further comprise a border flange (212) (222) perpendicularly extended along the border of the border thereof. Further, the upper clamping arm (21) comprises two serrated portions (213) symmetrically and longitudinally extended along two opposite lateral sides thereof, enhancing hair-clamping strength and preventing slips. The lower clamping arm (22) further comprises a spring arm (223) formed of a part of the rear end thereof using a stamping technique. The spring arm (223) obliquely upwardly extended from the rear end of the lower clamping arm (22) and abutted against the rear end of the upper clamping arm (21), holding the hair clip body (1) in a close position.

Referring to FIGS. 14 and 15, a hair clip assembly in accordance with a fourth embodiment of the present invention is shown. This fourth embodiment is substantially similar to the aforesaid third embodiment with the exception that the upper and lower clamping arms (21) (22) each have a spring arm (214) (223) respectively obliquely extended from the rear end thereof and respectively abutted against the rear end of the opposing clamping arm, holding the hair clip body (1) in a close position.

Although particular embodiments of the invention have been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
