Description

The present invention relates to a tile provided with distance means for shifting and adjusting tile position before adhesion, particularly used for allowing the positioning of tile during its laying on the surface to be decorated. Such tile provided with distance means allows easy alignment between the tiles before their final adhesion making it possible to provide, in an extremely practical, safe and economic way, full optimization of tiling processes in general, such as mosaic tiles, pieces cut in different materials, such as stone, wood, ceramic, among others with the purpose of decorative surfacing applications.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Tiling processes in general, in particular mosaic tiles and pieces cut in different materials are known in the state of the art, these processes being based on the application of a double-sided tape which create a few drawbacks during its application, mainly to tilers including: need for skilled labor; high costs and installation time; and especially in terms of alignment and positioning between tiles decorating surfaces.

One example of tiles comprising a surface provided with double-sided tape to be fixed to surfaces is included in the patent document BR102013032792-1 from the applicant of the present patent application, filed in 19 Dec. 2013 and titled “METHOD FOR FIXING TILES IN GENERAL”, which discloses a method for fixing tiles, more specifically mosaic tiles, which comprises a layer of resin followed by a double-sided adhesive layer so as to form rigid mosaic tiles in order to provide, in a practical, safe and economic way, full optimization of tiling processes in general.

Despite the improvements introduced in the tiling method proposed by the patent application BR102013032792-1, the applicant has proceeded with his research on the topic and observed the need for the development of distance means to make it even easier to properly shift and adjust tile position before adhering it to the surface as the tile, once positioned in a misaligned fashion, needs to be removed, which may damage and require change of adhesive layer, thus increasing the installation costs.

Following this line of action, it has become indispensable the finding of a practical tile that allows tile alignment, especially mosaic tiles, pieces cut in different materials, such as stone, wood, ceramic among others, before tile final adhesion to the surface, both for tilers and average users with no experience in tiling processes but who wish to fix tiles themselves.

Aiming to solve the abovementioned drawbacks, the present invention describes a tile provided with distance means for shifting and adjusting tile position, particularly mosaic tiles, with a different approach to meet the several requirements its use demands, that is, tile alignment before final adhesion to surface.

Advantageously, said tile provided with distance means for shifting and adjusting tile position shows great efficiency, functionality, strength, versatility and economy due to the excellent aggregated technical qualities and whose general characteristics are unlike the other shapes and models of tiles known in the existing state of the art.

Accordingly, it is an object of this present invention a tile provided with distance means for shifting and adjusting tile position, in particular mosaic tiles, pieces cut in different materials, among others wherein the distance is achieved by means of conveniently positioned deformable pieces integrated into the tile adhesion surface so as to create a temporary gap for shifting and adjusting tile until it is properly positioned for its final adhesion to the surface to be decorated.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a tile provided with distance means that allow shifting and adjusting tile position before its adhesion to surface, particularly mosaic tiles or pieces cut in different materials. The distance is achieved by deformable pieces integrated into the tile so that, after defining proper position, tile is pressed down thus inducing deformation of the deformable pieces so as to create contact between the adhesive tape and the surface to be decorated.

Schematic figures from a specific embodiment of the present invention are shown below; the sizes and proportions of which are not necessarily the actual ones because the purpose of such figures is simply to didactically present the several different aspects of the present invention and whose scope of rights is determined only from the scope of the invention in the attached claims.

FIG. 1 is a side view of a tile (1) with the deformable pieces (2) of the present invention.

FIG. 2 is a bottom view of a tile (1) with the deformable pieces (2) of the present invention.

FIG. 3 is a bottom view of a tile (1) with the deformable pieces (2) in another embodiment of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

As illustrated in the attached drawings, the present invention relates to a tile provided with distance means for shifting and adjusting tile position, particularly mosaic tiles and pieces cut in different materials, said tile being having a decorated surface (10) and an adhesion surface (11) provided with a tape (3) wherein the distance is achieved by a series of conveniently positioned deformable pieces (2) integrated into the adhesion surface (11) so as to create a temporary gap for shifting and adjusting tile (1) position before its final adhesion to surface.

Deformable pieces (2) are provided with a height which is slightly greater than that of the adhesive tape layer (3) so as to form protrusions that create the temporary gap for shifting and adjusting tile (1) position before its final adhesion to the surface.

In another embodiment of the present invention, deformable pieces (2) are directly arranged on the tape (3), being placed and integrated in predetermined spots so as to allow their alignment while being adhered to the surface to be decorated (not depicted) compared to other tiles (1) or objects taken as a reference during tile (1) shifting and positioning before final adhesion to surface.

Deformable pieces (2) help align tiles (1) before their final adhesion to surface thus providing, in an extremely practical, safe and economic way, full optimization of tiling processes in general, such as mosaic tiles or any pieces cut in different materials.

When properly positioned and integrated into the adhesive tape layer (3) on the tiles (1), deformable pieces (2) create a temporary gap thus allowing free shifting of tile (1) without any contact of adhesive tape layer (3) to the surface to be decorated (not depicted) until tile is properly positioned.

In another embodiment of the present invention, deformable pieces (2) may be placed directly on the adhesion surface (11) or on the adhesive tape layer (3), deformable components (2) being conveniently placed and integrated to its respective ends. When deformable components (2) are directly placed on the adhesion surface (11), their height is slightly greater than that of the adhesive tape layer (3) so as to create a convenient gap between the adhesive tape (3) and the surface to be decorated (not depicted), also considering a compensation for uneven spots on the surface during tile (1) shifting.

Advantageously, deformable pieces (2) are positioned on the adhesion surface (11) ends or adhesive tape layer (3) ends in order to create an even and consistent contact with the surface to be decorated as, during positioning of tile (1) these are the areas which are more strongly pressed down by tiler to promote tile (1) adherence after deformable pieces (2) having been deformed on the surface to be decorated.

After definition of tile (1) proper position, tile (1) is pressed down to induce deformation of deformable pieces (2) thus creating a contact between the adhesive tape layer (3) and the surface to be decorated (not depicted).

Accordingly, upon fixing tile (1) to the surface (not depicted), deformable pieces (2) are kept merged between the tile (1) and the surface to be decorated (not depicted), therefore not affecting tile (1) fixing on the adhesive tape layer (3).

Regarding the deformable pieces (2), it will be understood that they can be made of any pliable material such as expanded polystyrene, expanded polyurethane, rubber, silicone or the like.

Variations and modifications with respect to the embodiments shown and described in the attached drawings will readily occur to a person skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention as defined in the attached claims.
