BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates generally to footwear and accessories and in particular to socks for use with thong sandals. The thong sandal, also known as the flip-flop or strap sandal, first became popular in the United States in the 1960s and provides inexpensive foot protection at home, at the beach, and in other casual circumstances. Unfortunately, due to the presence of the Y-shaped strap between the user's toes, the wearing of conventional socks with thong sandals is impossible. Many users would prefer to wear socks for comfort, and to prevent sand, grass clippings, and other debris from accumulating between the toes when outdoors. Socks for use with thong sandals, which provide a stitched recess between the big toe and second toe to accommodate the sandal strap, would resolve this problem.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the invention is directed to socks for use with thong sandals. Each sock provides a stitched recess between the big toe and second toe to accommodate the sandal strap. The socks are provided in ankle, calf, and knee high lengths, and in a variety of colors and designs.

Additional features and advantages of the invention will be set forth in the description which follows, and will be apparent from the description, or may be learned by practice of the invention. The foregoing general description and the following detailed description are exemplary and explanatory and are intended to provide further explanation of the invention.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The accompanying drawings are included to provide a further understanding of the invention and are incorporated into and constitute a part of the specification. They illustrate one embodiment of the invention and, together with the description, serve to explain the principles of the invention.

FIG. 1 is a side perspective view of the right sock of the first exemplary embodiment, displaying the sock 10, and the recess 11.

FIG. 2 is a side perspective view of the left sock of the first exemplary embodiment, displaying the sock 10, and the recess 11.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring now to the invention in more detail, the invention is directed to socks 10 for use with thong sandals. The first exemplary embodiment provides a pair of socks 10, each of which provides a stitched recess 11 between the big toe and second toe to accommodate the sandal strap. The socks 10 are provided in ankle, calf, and knee high lengths, and in a variety of colors and designs.

To use the first exemplary embodiment, the user puts the socks 10 on the user's feet such that the recess 11 is between the user's big toe and second toe. The user may then put on a pair of thong sandals such that the strap is inserted into the recess 11.

The socks 10 are preferably manufactured from a flexible, durable fabric which is machine washable, such as cotton, wool, a cotton-rayon blend, or a cotton-polyester blend. Components, component sizes, and materials listed above are preferable, but artisans will recognize that alternate components and materials could be selected without altering the scope of the invention.

While the foregoing written description of the invention enables one of ordinary skill to make and use what is presently considered to be the best mode thereof, those of ordinary skill in the art will understand and appreciate the existence of variations, combinations, and equivalents of the specific embodiment, method, and examples herein. The invention should, therefore, not be limited by the above described embodiment, method, and examples, but by all embodiments and methods within the scope and spirit of the invention.
