Non-slip belt

A non-slip belt including a belt strap having a silicone gel material imprinted on the inside of the belt strap in a non-continuous design. An interlocking belt buckle for joining the two ends of the belt strap together is constructed of two identically shaped halves. A notch is provided in each half for threadably receiving the notch of the other for interlocking the two halves together. Each half further includes a semi-circular front member and a semi-circular back member joined to the front half in an offset relation. When the notches of each half are threaded together and the front member of each half is rotated toward the rear member of the other half, the front member of each half nests against the back member of the other half forming a circular shaped interlocking belt buckle when the two halves are joined together.

Description

This application claims the benefit of provisional application Ser. No. 61/963,628 filed Dec. 9, 2013.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

The present invention relates to a belt having a belt strap with a non-slip gel imprinted on the inside surface of the belt for preventing the belt from slipping when worn by a user. The present invention also includes a buckle having two interlocking halves each of which are connected to a respective free end of the belt strap. The two halves are easily connected together for buckling the free ends of the belt strap together.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

A non-slip belt according to the present invention includes a belt strap having a silicone gel material imprinted on the inside of the belt strap in a non-continuous design. An interlocking belt buckle is provided for joining the two ends of the belt strap together. The interlocking belt buckle is constructed of two identically shaped halves.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

In order that the invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into effect, a preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a belt according to the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a front view of a buckle according to the present invention.

FIG. 3 is a rear view of the buckle shown in FIG. 2;

FIG. 4 is a front view of the buckle shown in FIG. 2 with two halves of the buckle separated from one another;

FIG. 5 is a rear view of the buckle shown in FIG. 4;

FIG. 6 is a perspective view of the two halves of the buckle shown in FIG. 1 being joined together; and

FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line 7-7 in FIG. 1.

DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

A belt 10 according to the present invention is shown in FIG. 1. The belt 10 includes a belt strap 12 the free ends of which are connected together with a belt buckle 14.

In a preferred embodiment, the belt strap 12 is constructed of a resilient polyester material. A silicone gel 16 is imprinted on the inside surface of the belt strap 12 in a non-continuous design for improved gripping. In a preferred embodiment as shown in FIG. 1, the word JELT constructed of the silicone gel 16 is repeated on the inside surface of the belt strap 12. The silicone gel 16 provides a non-slip surface which tends to prevent the belt strap 12 from slipping around the waist of a user when the belt 10 is worn.

An interlocking belt buckle 14 is shown in FIGS. 2-6. The belt buckle 14 is constructed of two halves, 14A and 14B, as shown in FIGS. 4-6. Each half 14A and 14B are of identical construction and the same element numbers will be used for each. The description below will relate to the belt buckle half 14A but the same element numbers will apply to belt buckle half 14B. The belt buckle half 14A includes a semi-circular front member 18 which is adjoined to a semi-circular back member 20 in an offset relation as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5. The back member 20 has a cutout portion forming a slot 22 as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5. The front member 18 has a lug 24 provided on the back surface thereof and the back member 20 has an opening 26 extending there through and sized to receive the lug 24 of the other half belt buckle as will be subsequently described.

The back member 20 has an attachment ring 28 through which a free end of the belt 12 is threaded and then sewn on to itself as shown in FIG. 6 at 30. As shown in FIG. 5 the notch 22 of half 14A is disposed downwardly and the notch 22 of half 14B is disposed upwardly.

To join the two buckle halves 14A and 14B together, the slots 22 are aligned as shown in FIG. 6 and the belt buckle halves 14A and 14B are threadably slid together. Next, the front members 18 are rotated downwardly with respect to the back member 20 of the other belt buckle half so that the lugs 24 are inserted in the openings 26 as shown in FIG. 3. In a preferred embodiment the openings 26 are sized to frictionally receive the lugs 24 to hold the two belt buckle halves 14A and 14B together. In this manner, the free ends of the belt strap 12 are buckled together.

While the fundamental novel features of the invention have been shown and described, it should be understood that various substitutions, modifications, and variations may be made by those skilled in the arts, without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention. Accordingly, all such modifications or variations are included in the scope of the invention as defined by the following claims:

Claims

1. A non-slip belt comprising:

a belt strap having a pair of free ends and an inside surface adapted to rest against the waist of a user;
a silicone gel material imprinted on the inside surface of the belt strap in a non-continuous design;
an interlocking belt buckle constructed of first and second identical halves;
the first half of the belt buckle having a first longitudinal notch and the second half of the belt buckle having a second longitudinal notch for threadably receiving the first notch for interlocking the two halves together;
the first half of the belt buckle is secured to a free end of the belt strap with the first notch extending upwardly and the second half of the buckle secured to the other free end of the belt strap with the second notch extending downwardly.

2. The non-slip belt according to claim 1 wherein the first and second halves of the interlocking belt buckle each further include a semi-circular front member adjoined to a semi-circular back member in an offset relation and wherein the first notch is provided in the back member of the first half and the second notch is provided in the back member of the second half, whereby when the first notch is threadably received by the second notch and the front member of each half is rotated toward the back member of the other half, the front member of each half nests against the respective back members of the other half forming a circular shaped interlocking belt buckle when the first and second halves are joined together.

3. The non-slip belt according to claim 1 wherein the silicone gel material is imprinted on the inside of the belt strap in a series of letters.
