Description
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application No. 61/865,486 filed Aug. 13, 2013, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to baseball caps and, more particularly, to a baseball bill decorator and protector.

A baseball cap is a type of soft cap with a rounded crown and a stiff peak projecting in front. The bill of the baseball cap is pointing forward to shield the eyes from the sun. The cap is often seen in everyday casual wear. The bill of a hat can sometimes be plain in appearance or come with a permanent design. The bill can also become dirty from constant use.

As can be seen, there is a need for a baseball bill decorator and protector.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a method of decorating and protecting a baseball cap comprises: providing a first sticker comprising a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein the first sticker is shaped to substantially cover a bill of a baseball cap; providing the baseball cap comprising the bill, wherein the bill comprises a top surface and a bottom surface; and adhering the bottom surface of the first sticker to the top surface of the bill, thereby substantially covering the top surface of the bill.

These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

The present invention includes a removable sticker that is used to design, advertise or protect the bill of a hat. The removable sticker allows hat wearers a temporary option to enhance their hats appearance through design or advertisement. The present invention also helps protect the bill from dirt and grime and thereby keeps the bill clean in appearance. Using the present invention, hat wearers now have an option that gives them the opportunity to temporarily design, advertise or protect the bill of their hats.

Referring to FIGS. 1 through 7, the present invention includes at least a first sticker 10. The first sticker 10 may be shaped to substantially cover the bill 18 of the baseball cap 16. For example, the sticker 10 may include an inner edge and an outer edge. The inner edge may be concave in shape to conform with the rounded baseball cap 16. The outer edge may be convex in shape to conform with the rounded edge of the bill 18. Therefore, the sticker 10 of the present invention may completely cover the surface of the bill 18.

The first sticker 10 of the present invention may include a top surface and a bottom surface. The first sticker 10 may be clear and may be used to protect the baseball cap 16. However, in certain embodiments, the top surface of the first sticker 10 may include at least one of a color, a design, and a picture. The bottom surface of the first sticker 10 may include an adhesive layer 12. An adhesive cover 14 may attach to the adhesive layer 12 prior to use. When ready to use, the adhesive cover 14 may be removed, and the first sticker 10 may be placed on the top surface of the bill 18. In certain embodiments, a second sticker 10 may be adhered to the bottom surface of the bill 18.

A method of decorating and protecting a baseball cap may include the following: providing a first sticker comprising a top surface and a bottom surface, wherein the first sticker is shaped to substantially cover a bill of a baseball cap; providing the baseball cap comprising the bill, wherein the bill comprises a top surface and a bottom surface; and adhering the bottom surface of the first sticker to the top surface of the bill, thereby substantially covering the top surface of the bill. The method may further include the step of removing the adhesive cover from the bottom surface of the sticker prior to adhering the bottom surface of the sticker to the top surface of the bill. The method may further include the step of adhering the bottom surface of the second sticker to the bottom surface of the bill, thereby substantially covering the bottom surface of the bill.

The present invention may be made from an adhesive sticker material that is printable, tear/weather resistant and removable. The adhesive sticker material may first have a design, image, color, wording or advertisement printed onto the surface. Then the material is cut into one of the preselected hat bill shapes. There may be round hat bill, square hat bill, and flat hat bill options for both adult and kid sized hats.

A method of using the present invention may include the following. Hat wearers may choose one of the designs, colors or advertisements. The user may lay the hat they are applying the present invention to on a flat surface with the hat bill facing towards them. The user may then take the chosen sticker and remove the paper backing from it exposing the adhesive quality. Next, the user would then match up the shapes of the sticker and the bill of the hat as perfectly as possible starting from where the hats bill and the face/body of the hat meet. The user may then use their hand and smooth the sticker onto the hat bill surface. The present invention should now be in place. If repositioning is required the user may repeat all of the above steps to get the position as perfect as possible.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
