CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This is application claims priority to Provisional Application U.S. Ser. No. 62/081,797 filed on Nov. 19, 2014, which is herein incorporated by reference in its entirety.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention is directed to a scouring glove and more particularly to a heat rated glove or mitt having a removable scouring sleeve.

Washing and scrubbing mitts are known in the art for use in various cleaning operations. Typically, a user dons a wash mitt and grasps a steel wool-like scouring pad to clean an item such as a kitchen implement. In certain instances, abrasive cleaning surfaces are attached to gloves and mitts. While helpful, these improvements are not effective in certain situations, such as a restaurant kitchen, where pots are large and often cleaning occurs while the pot is still hot. Thus, a need exists in the art for a device that addresses these deficiencies.

An objective of the present invention is to provide a scouring mitt that is heat rated.

A further objective is to provide a scouring mitt that protects arms and hands.

These and other objectives will be apparent to others skilled in the art based upon the following written description.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A heat rated scouring glove has a hand section, an arm section and a layer of heat rated material. A sleeve, having an abrasive surface is configured to receive the hand section of the glove. A fastening member attached to an outer surface of the glove is configured to removably attach the sleeve to the glove.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a heat rated scouring glove; and

FIG. 2 is a side sectional view of a heat rated scouring glove.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS:

Referring to the Figures, a scouring glove 10 has a layer of heat rated material 12 that forms a cavity for receiving a hand and an arm. For the purpose of this description the term glove is used interchangeably with mitt without departing from the scope of the invention. Preferably, the heat rated material 12 is made of silicone or any other similar material that is rated at 450° F.

The layer of material 12 has a hand section 14 and an arm section 16 that extends at least to one's elbow. An outer surface 18 of the hand section 14 has a fastening member 20. The fastening member 20 is of any type including a hook and loop combination, a strap or tie, a snap, or a plurality of protrusions.

Fitted over the hand section 14 is a sleeve 22 having an abrasive surface. Preferably the sleeve is open at both ends.

In operation, one slips their hand and arm into the cavity formed by the layer of heat rated material 12. The sleeve 22 is then slid over the hand section 14 of the material 12 and removably attached to the hand section 14 using the fastening member 20. The fastening member assists in maintaining the position of the sleeve during cleaning. The layer of heat rated material helps to prevent burns when cleaning hot items. When finished, the sleeve 22 is removed and replaced.
