Description
BACKGROUND

When a pet produces a bowel movement on a walk, at the park or in another outdoor area, the pet owner is generally required to clean it up. Failure to do so creates a messy and unsanitary space, and can result in a fine or other legal repercussion. Yet, the process of cleaning up pet waste can be highly unsanitary and difficult. The pet owner is required to bend over, which may not be easy or possible for all individuals who may also experience strong, unpleasant odors. additionally, the pet owner may also accidentally touch the waste while attempting to scoop it into a bag.

    • 1. Devices are known in the prior art that relate to dog feces collectors. Some devices provide a system for picking up pet waste and automatically sealing it within a disposable liner. The liner is installed on a hand-held scooper device by an automatic applicator.
    • 2. Other devices provide a waste collection device comprising a handle having a grip end and head assembly for attaching a bag. The bag fits in an opening formed by the head assembly, is folded over the arm supports and a portion of the blade, and is secured to the head assembly.
    • 3. These prior art devices, however fail to provide a set of claws that surrounds a unique bag, this configuration of a set of claws and a unique bag are adapted for moving and retaining pet feces within a plastic bag.
    • 4. Some pet waste devices use a set of claws similar to the MPI-Retriever, however they function in a different manor. The set of claws or held closed by a set of heavy springs, to activate the device, one needs lift up on a handle grip, that has very strong resistance, more than some women and children can operate. When releasing the handle grip, the claws will snap together with such force it could injure a persons hand. Without the plastic bag the claws are smeared with pet waste and are difficult to clean.

SOLUTION

The present invention provides a convenient and sanitary means for cleaning up pet waste. The device eliminates the need to bend over when cleaning up after an animal, thereby reducing the risk of an individual coming into contact with or smelling the animal's waste. The design of the device further enables an individual to operate the device with ease and safety.

Claims

1. A method related to collection of at least one pet waste item using at least one hand-held retriever comprising the following steps of:

a) Providing at least one disposable pet waste bag adapted to resist the passage of pet waste

2. The method according to claim 1 further comprising the steps of retrieving one pet waste item, with at least one hand-held retriever, and at least one disposable pet waste bag, substantially captures at least one pet waste item.

a) The pet waste bag is placed around the set of claws—14, place the pet waste bag handles over the hooks—15, and insert bottom of the pet waste bag between the claws—14.

3. The method according claim 1 further comprising the steps of retrieving one pet waste item, with at least one hand-held retriever.

a) The device comprises an elongated handle—12, with an actuator—13, at the proximal end, and claws—14, at the distal end. The open side of the claws face away from the handle so that the opening is on the bottom when the device is held upright. In order to pick up a pet waste item, begin by moving the actuator to position 1. The operator can then place the pet waste bag over and around the outside of the set of claws—14, now place the bag handles over the set of hooks—15, and then insert the bag upward between the pair of claws. Now place the open claws over the pet waste, then move the actuator to position 3, which closes the set of claws and captures the pet waste inside of the pet waste bag and claws. When you wish to remove the bag containing the pet waste, remove the bag handles from the set of hooks—15, move the pet waste handles down and tie them together. In order to remove the bag of pet waste from the claws, move the actuator to position 1.
