DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 7 thereof, a new scaffold device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 7, the adjustable scaffold assembly 10 generally comprises a pair of vertical supports 12. Each of the vertical supports 12 includes a first leg 14 and a second leg 16. Each of the first 14 and second legs 16 is vertically oriented. A plurality of rods 18 extends between and is attached to the first 14 and second 16 legs. The rods 18 are vertically spaced from each other and horizontally oriented. Each of the first 14 and second 16 legs has a plurality of apertures 20 therein. The apertures 20 are distributed along an entire length of the first 14 and second 16 legs.

A pair of hand rails 22 is provided. Each of the hand rails 22 is telescopic and has an adjustable length. A plurality of retainers 24 is provided. Each of the first 14 and second 16 legs of each of the vertical supports 12 has one of the retainers 24 coupled thereto adjacent to an apex 26 of each of the first 14 and second 16 legs. One of the hand rails 22 is mounted on the retainers 24 coupled to the first legs 14 and another one of the hand rails 22 is mounted on the retainers 24 coupled to the second legs 16. Thus, the hand rails 22 are each coupled to and extending between the vertical supports 12. Each of the retainers 24 forms a closed loop with an associated one of the first 14 and second 16 legs.

A pair of horizontal supports 28 is provided. One of the horizontal supports 28 is attached to and extends between each of the first legs 14. The other one of the horizontal supports 28 is attached to and extends between each of the second legs 16. Each of the horizontal supports 28 is horizontally oriented. Each of the horizontal supports 28 has an adjustable length to selectively alter a distance between the vertical supports 12.

Each of the horizontal supports 28 includes a pair of arms 30 that each has a terminal end 32. Each of the terminal ends 32 terminates in a bracket 34 attached to an associated one of the first 14 or second 16 legs. The bracket 34 forms a right angle with respect to the horizontal support 28. Each of the brackets 34 is selectively positionable at a vertical height on the associated one of the first 14 or second 16 legs. The arms 30 each extend laterally away from the vertical supports 12. A support 31 extends between the bracket 34 and the arm 30.

A middle section 36 of the horizontal supports 28 is attached to and extends between each of the arms 30. The middle section 36 is removably coupled at selectable points along at least one of the arms 30 such that a distance between the terminal ends 32 is adjustable. A plurality of fasteners 38 extends into the middle section 36 and the arms 30. The fasteners 38 may comprise a nut and bolt of any conventional design.

A plurality of stops 40 is provided. Each of the brackets 34 receives at least one of the stops 40. The stops 40 are extendable into a selected one of the apertures 20. The stops 40 retain the horizontal supports 28 at the selected vertical height on the first 14 and second 16 legs.

A walkway 42 is mounted on and extends between the vertical supports 12. The walkway 42 may support a person between the vertical supports 12. The walkway 42 includes a frame 44. The frame 44 includes a pair of lateral supports 46 that are laterally spaced from each other and oriented parallel to each other.

Each of the lateral supports 46 has a free end 48. Each of the lateral supports 46 is telescopic and selectively adjustable. Each of the free ends 48 comprises a coupler 50 to releasably engage a selected one of the rods 18. The lateral supports 46 are vertically positioned to match the vertical position of the horizontal supports 28. Each of the lateral supports 46 includes a first section 51 slidably coupled to a second section 53. The lateral supports 46 each have an adjustable length.

A platform 52 is positioned on the frame 44 and extends between the lateral supports 46. The platform 52 has a selectively adjustable length. The platform 52 has a pair of lateral edges 54. Each of the lateral edges 54 extends beyond an adjacent one of the lateral supports 46 and over one of the horizontal supports 28. Thus, the platform 52 is supported by the frame 44 and the horizontal supports 28.

A plurality of wheels 56 is provided. Each of the vertical supports 12 has a bottom end 58. The wheels 56 are rotatably coupled to the bottom ends 58 to facilitate movement of the vertical supports 12. The wheels 56 may be locked to retain the vertical supports 12 at a selected point on a support surface 60. The support surface 60 may be a floor.

In use, the vertical supports 12 are spaced a selected distance apart. The middle section 36 is installed to retain the vertical supports 12 at the selected distance. The walkway 42 is coupled to the vertical supports 12. The assembly 10 is utilized in the convention of scaffolding.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
