CHILDREN'S CRAWLING AID THAT ROCKS

Abstract

A children's crawling aid that rocks may include a base having a top side, bottom side, a forward section, and a rear section. The top side may have an arcuate surface. The bottom side may have at least one section. A cushion may be attached to the top side of the base. A fabric covering may removably fasten to the cushion. The device may assist a baby in developing crawling and sitting skills.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of U.S. provisional application No. 61/806,825, filed Mar. 30, 2013, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to learning devices and, more particularly, to a belly motion device.

Children do not come out of the womb knowing how to crawl or sit up. These are learned skills that children work on developing. There is no existing product that expands beyond the phase of crawling. Current devices, because of their shape and size, do not work effectively with the size and age range of children. Most products in the marketplace are stationary while stifles crawling considerably.

As can be seen, there is a need for a children's crawling aid that allows for learning of crawling, rocking and playing.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a crawling aid for children comprises: a base having a top side, bottom side, a forward section, and a rear section, wherein the top side has an arcuate surface, wherein the bottom side comprises at least one section; and a cushion attached to the top side of the base.

In another aspect of the present invention, a method for training a child to crawl and sit comprises: placing a crawling aid for children under a chest and a belly of a baby, wherein the crawling aid for children is defined by abase having a top side, a bottom side, a forward section, and a rear section, wherein the top side has an arcuate surface, wherein the bottom side comprises at least one section; a cushion attached to the top side of the base; a fabric covering removably fastened to the cushion; and propping the baby in a crawling position.

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a crawling aid for children that may include a base having a top side, bottom side, a forward section, and a rear section. The top side may have an arcuate surface. The bottom side may have at least one section. A cushion may be attached to the top side of the base. A fabric covering may removably fasten to the cushion. The device may assist a baby in developing crawling and sitting skills.

As is illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 16, a crawling aid for children 10 is a device that may include a base 16. The base 16 may have a top side 19, a bottom side 17, a forward section 13, and a rear section 15. The top side 19 may have an arcuate surface. The bottom side 17 may have at least one section. A cushion 14 may attach to the top side 19 of the base 16. In certain embodiments, a fabric covering 12 may removably fasten to the cushion 14. In certain embodiments, the bottom section of the base 16 may include three sections. The three sections may include two arcuate surfaces and a flat surface 20 in between the arcuate surfaces. The bottom section of the base may include at least one rail 21. In certain embodiments, the bottom section of the base may include two rails 21 that form three sections along the rails 21, the three sections may include two arcuate surfaces and a flat surface 20 in between the arcuate surfaces.

In certain embodiments, the fabric covering 12 may be made from a hypoallergenic cloth material or the like which may be washable. In certain embodiments, the cushion may be made from memory foam, bean bags or other like material. The fabric covering 12 may be fastened to the cushion 14 by way of snaps 24, hook and loop fasteners, or the like. The thickness of the cushion may increase moving from the rear section 15 to the forward section 13. In certain embodiments, at least one pad 18 may be placed along the bottom side 17 of the base 16. The at least one pad 18 may be placed on the arcuate surfaces of the bottom side 17 of the base 16.

A method of using the present invention may include the following. Within a first stage, a baby 22 may be placed onto the device 10. A chest of the baby 22 may be placed towards the forward section 13 of the base. The rear section 15 of the base may fit underneath the stomach of the baby 22. The device 10 may lift the baby 22 up on all arms and legs, allowing the baby 22 to balance and become accustomed to the crawling position. The positioning may guide mobility, strengthen muscles, improve coordination, and assist with balance when learning how to crawl. The at least one pad 18 may be made from rubber or the like. A second stage may allow the baby to help foster play. The device 10 may turn into a rocking toy allowing the child to rock back and forth.

In certain embodiments, the fabric covering 12 may be of any pattern that may be used with children. The size and shape of the device 10 may confirm to children of various sizes by using materials that contour to the shape of the child.

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.

Claims

1. A crawling aid for children comprising:

a base having a top side, bottom side, a forward section, and a rear section, wherein the top side has an arcuate surface, wherein the bottom side comprises at least one section; and

a cushion attached to the top side of the base.

2. The crawling aid for children of claim 1, further comprising a fabric covering removably fastened to the cushion.

3. The crawling aid for children of claim 2, wherein the fabric covering is made from a hypoallergenic cloth material.

4. The crawling aid for children of claim 1, further comprising at least one pad attached to the at least one section of the bottom side of the base.

5. The crawling aid for children of claim 1, wherein the cushion is made from memory foam.

6. The crawling aid for children of claim 1, wherein the bottom side of the base comprises at least one rail.

7. The crawling aid for children of claim 1, wherein the at least one section of the bottom side comprise two arcuate surfaces and a flat surface in between the arcuate surfaces.

8. The crawling aid for children of claim 1, wherein the shape of the cushion comprises a thickness beginning with the rear section, increasing in thickness towards the forward section of the cushion.

9. A method for training a child to crawl and sit comprising:

placing a crawling aid for children under a chest and a belly of a baby, wherein the crawling aid for children is defined by abase having a top side, a bottom side, a forward section, and a rear section, wherein the top side has an arcuate surface, wherein the bottom side comprises at least one section; a cushion attached to the top side of the base; a fabric covering removably fastened to the cushion; and

propping the baby in a crawling position.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the at least one section of the bottom side comprise two arcuate surfaces and a flat surface in between the arcuate surfaces.
