DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL EMBODIMENTS

The detailed description set forth below is intended as a description of presently preferred embodiments of the invention and does not represent the only forms in which the present device may be construed and/or utilized. The description sets forth the functions and the sequence of the steps for producing the device. However, it is to be understood that the same or equivalent functions and sequences may be accomplished by different embodiments also intended to be encompassed within the scope of the invention.

FIGS. 1-2 illustrates a front and back perspective views of the present device in its fully assembled state. The present device includes various interchangeable parts that when connected encompass the fully assembled state of the device.

In one embodiment, a cosmetic device 10 is disclosed, wherein the cosmetic device 2 preferably comprises a curler section 4, a color well section 6, and a brush section 8.

FIGS. 3A-3B illustrates a perspective view of the present device in a fully disassembled state. In a preferred embodiment the curler section 4, color well section 6, and the brush section 8 may be removably attached to each other by a series of snap fits (see discussion below). In one embodiment, the curler section 4 is preferably attached to a first end 10A of the color well section 6, and the brush section 8 is preferably attached to a second end 10B of the color well section.

Furthermore, the curler section 4 comprises a first cavity 22, wherein the first cavity may be considered a female attachment end as known in the art. In one embodiment, the first cavity 22 located on the curler section 4 is disposed to receive a first snap fit plug 24 located on the first end 10A of the color well section 6; the first snap fit plug 24 may also be referred to as a male attachment end as known in the art. Thus, in one embodiment, once the first snap fit plug 24 of the color well section 6 is introduced into the first cavity 22 of the curler section, a snap fit is achieved securing the curler section 4 to the color well section 8. Similarly, the color well section 6 comprises a second cavity 26 located on the second end 10B of the color well section 6. The second cavity 26 is disposed to receive a second snap fit plug 28 located on the brush section 8. When the second snap fit plug 28 is introduced into the second cavity 26 on the color well section 6, a snap fit is achieved securing the color well section 6 to the brush section 8. In other embodiments various attachment means may be utilized to secure the various sections of the cosmetic device 2 to each, including, but not limited to a threaded attachment, a latch mechanism, or other attachments allowing the user to detach the sections of the cosmetic device 2.

In a preferred embodiment the curler section 4 of the cosmetic device 2 further comprises a curling mechanism 16 located at a distal end 17 of the curler section; the first cavity 22 of the curler section 4 is located at a proximal end 19 opposite the curling mechanism 16. In one embodiment, the curling mechanism 16 preferably comprises a pair of concave jaws; an upper curler jaw 18 and a lower curler jaw 20. Preferably, the upper curler jaw 18 is stationary and affixed by a plurality of rods 23, wherein the plurality of rods 23 protrude and extend substantially perpendicular to a bottom edge 30 of the upper curler jaw 18. In one embodiment, each individual rod of the plurality of rods 23 is preferably positioned near an outer edge 25 of the bottom edge 30. Additionally, the lower curler jaw 20 is slideably affixed to the plurality of rods 23, wherein the plurality of rods 23 extend through the lower curler jaw 20 allowing the lower curling jaw to travel along a length of the plurality of rods 23. In a resting position the lower curler jaw 20 is in contact with the upper curler jaw 18; the lower curler jaw 20 provides the force necessary to curl an eyelash. In one embodiment, when a quality of force is applied to the lower curler jaw 20, the lower curler jaw 20 may slide along the plurality of rods 23 until it meets the upper curler jaw 18, which resists the force. In this embodiment, an eyelash (not shown) of the user of the cosmetic device 2 will become trapped between the two opposing forces of the lower curler jaw 20 and the upper curler jaw 18 to generate the desired curling affect.

Moreover, in one embodiment, the curling section 4 further comprises a thumb lever 36, wherein the thumb lever 36 enables movement of the lower curler jaw 20 during use and from a resting position; during the resting state the thumb lever 36 is not depressed and thereby not engaged. At the resting state the lower curler jaw 20 is open and therefore not in contact with the upper curler jaw 18 as shown in FIG. 3. The void created between the upper curler jaw 18 and the lower curler jaw 20 allows for an eyelash to be received and eventually curled by the curling mechanism 16. When the thumb lever 36 is depressed downward, the lower curler jaw 20 moves closing the void between the lower curler jaw 20 and the upper curler jaw 18.

In a preferred embodiment the color well section 6 joins the curler section 4 and the brush section 8, while additionally including a mascara well within the color well section. The color well section 6 is removably affixed to both the curler section 4 and the brush section 8 to allow for interchangeability of mascara wells. This configuration of the cosmetic device 2 allows for a user the option to easily replace or change the mascara. In this embodiment the second cavity 26 includes a mascara well as well as the female end of the couple between the brush section 8 and the color well section 6. In the preferred embodiment the second cavity 26 diameter is greater than the diameter of the second snap fit plug 28 as well as the diameter of a brush 40 (discussed below). The smaller diameter of the second snap fit plug 28 and the brush 30 allow for the second snap fit plug 28 and the brush 40 to fit entirely within the second cavity 26. When the brush is inside of the second cavity 26 the brush 40 may be immersed in the mascara thereby allowing for use of the mascara. When the second snap fit plug 28 is fitted inside the second cavity 26 a coupling is created.

In another preferred embodiment the brush section 8 is comprises an end cap 32, a second snap fit plug 28, a brush stem 34, and a brush 40. The end cap 32 is made to an outer diameter equal to that of the color well section 6. This allows for the end cap 32 to sit flush with the color well section 6 when the second snap fit plug 28 and second cavity 26 are coupled. The second snap fit plug 28 protrudes from a center of the end cap 32. The second snap fit plugs 28 diameter is substantially similar to that of the second cavity 26 allowing for a snap fit to be created. In alternate embodiments the second snap fit plug 28 and the second cavity 26 may be threaded to allow for a screw fit. The brush stem 34 protrudes from the second snap fit plug 28; the brush stem 34 may be of a diameter substantially smaller than the diameter of the second snap fit plug 28. The brush 40 is affixed to the end of the brush stem 34; the brush 40 is used for application of the mascara. In the preferred embodiment the material of the brush 40 is selected to allow for retention of mascara on the brush without absorption of the mascara into the brush.

FIGS. 4 and 5A illustrate additional viewpoints of the cosmetic device 2 from a side view and a front view showing the curler section 4, the color well section 6 and the brush section 8. FIG. 5B illustrates a cross-sectional view along line A-A shown in FIG. 5A displaying the interior of the thumb lever 36.

FIGS. 6A-6B illustrate an additional front view and corresponding cross-sectional view of the cosmetic device 2, wherein the brush 40 is positioned within a color well 42 during non-use of the cosmetic device 2. As can be seen from this embodiment, the brush 40 is secured within the color well 42 when the second snap fit plug 28 and second cavity 26 are coupled.

In conclusion, herein is presented a cosmetic device. The invention is illustrated by example in the flow diagrams and figures, and throughout the written description. It should be understood that numerous variations are possible, while adhering to the inventive concept. Such variations are contemplated as being a part of the present invention.
