Description
REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

The present application claims priority to and the benefit of Provisional Patent Application No. 62/125,442, filed on Jan. 22, 2015.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Men who wear conventional suspenders have a recurring problem that they must deal with every day. The specific problem is that in order to drop their trousers for any reason they must remove their suspenders. Additionally, before doing that they must take time to remove any coat, sweater, or any other garment they may be wearing over the suspenders. Of course, this inconvenient and time-consuming process must be repeated in reverse when the user wants to replace his trousers, suspenders and garments. In an “ideal” world, individuals who wear suspenders should be able to drop or remove their trousers without having to remove their suspenders, and any outer garments they may be wearing.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

The present invention is a unique and user-friendly kind of suspenders that enable a person wearing these suspenders to drop their trousers without having to remove the suspenders along with any coat, sweater or outer garment they may be wearing. The suspenders of the present invention do not need to be removed, only disconnected from the trousers in order to drop them.

The suspenders of the present invention require only two connection points, rather than the three or four connection points required by conventional suspenders. The present invention in several embodiments uses two small hooks that connect directly to the user's belt, rather than trousers. The two connection points may be conveniently located on the user's belt, one point is 4 to 6 inches to the right side of the buckle, and the other point may be 4 to 6 inches to the left side of the buckle, in several embodiments. The distance between the connection points can vary depending of the girth of the user.

When an individual wearing the suspenders of the present invention wishes to drop their trousers, they simply disconnect the two hooks from their belt. Once the hooks are disconnected from the belt, the user can quickly and easily drop their trousers without removing any sweater, coat or other outer garments they may be wearing. The process is quick and easy. After putting the trousers back in place, reconnecting the hooks to the belt is equally quick and easy.

The need for the present invention is great and growing due to the large and growing population of mostly men who have gained weight and developed a slight to moderate protruding abdomen. Sooner or later, these men discover that their trousers keep slipping down over their belly, even though they are wearing a belt. The problem is that a belt” alone, is not enough to keep their trousers in place. These are the men who will appreciate, and enjoy the benefits of using the present invention.

In one embodiment the invention is a suspenders assembly for keeping trousers or the like in place, the suspenders including, a single strap having a first end and a second end, a strap length adjustment device disposed on the single strap, a first hook secured to the single strap, a second hook secured to the single strap, the strap length adjustment device is configured to adjust the usable length of the single strap, the first hook is configured to be received by a first opening in a clothing accessory, and the second hook is configured to be received by a second opening in the clothing accessory. In another embodiment, the strap length adjustment device is a slide. In another embodiment, two strap length adjustment devices are disposed on the single strap. In another embodiment, the strap length adjustment devices are each a slide. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides for suspenders that enable a person wearing them to drop their trousers without having to remove the suspenders along with any coat, sweater or outer garment they may be wearing.

These and other features and characteristics of the present invention, as well as the methods of operation and functions of the related elements of structures and the combination of parts and economies of manufacture, will become more apparent upon consideration of the following description with reference to the accompanying drawings, all of which form a part of this specification, wherein like reference numerals designate corresponding parts in the various figures. It is to be expressly understood, however, that the drawings are for the purpose of illustration and description only and are not intended as a definition of the limits of the invention. As used in the specification, the singular form of “a”, “an”, and “the” include plural referents unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.

Referring generally to FIGS. 1-5, the suspenders 10 of the present invention as shown include a strap 12 with a hook 14 secured on both the first end 16 and the second end 18. The suspenders 10 also include at least one slide 20 configured to adjust the usable length of the strap 12.

Referring more specifically to FIG. 2, the suspenders 10 can be used as shown by securing hooks 14 to holes 22 in belt 24 of user 26 to hold trousers 28 in place. To use the suspenders 10 in this way the user wears his belt 24 normally, as shown, and then loops the strap 12 around his neck 30, as shown. The user then secures the hooks 14 to his belt 24 by placing one hook 14 on the right, and the other hook 14 on the left side of his belt buckle 32.

Referring more specifically to FIG. 3, the suspenders 10 can be used as shown by securing hooks 14 to holes 22 in belt 24 of user 26 to hold trousers 28 in place. Specifically, to use the suspenders 10 in this way the user drapes the strap 12 over his right or left shoulder, and attaches the hook 14 to the belt 24 near the belt buckle 32. The other end of the strap 12 is dropped diagonally down across the user's back, as shown, and then is brought forward so that the hook 14 can be connected to the users belt 24 on the other side of the belt buckle 32.

Referring more specifically to FIG. 4, a typical leather belt can be modified to include the holes 22 described by using a leather hole punch (not shown).

Referring mores specifically to FIG. 5, one option for connecting the suspenders 10 to the belt 24 is to use a clip 34 which includes a hole 22 for receiving hook 14 and a portion 36 for receiving and retaining belt 24.

Referring more specifically to FIG. 6 and FIG. 7, another option for connecting the suspenders 10 to trousers 28 in order to keep the trouser 28 in place, is to use a suspender clip 38. The suspender clip 38 includes a first gripping member 40 and a second gripping member 42 for gripping trousers 28. A lever 44 is configured to open and close the suspender clip 38 by actuating first gripping member 40 and second gripping member 42.

Although the invention has been described in detail for the purpose of illustration based on what is currently considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments, it is to be understood that such detail is solely for that purpose and that the invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiments, but, on the contrary, is intended to cover modifications and equivalent arrangements that are within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. For example, it is to be understood that the present invention contemplates that, to the extent possible, one or more features of any embodiment can be combined with one or more features of any other embodiment.
